It really feels like it was meant to be a 30 second cooldown twilight garrison, but they chose to roll it back and made it grounded, which is totally fine imo. However, the way it is now, it kinda just feels klunky and slow, and just acts as a worse hunter dodge, or a much more expensive warlock dash. I should also preface this saying that I am very much a pve player.
My initial impression was that it’d be a much shorter cooldown, and would me meant to synergize with the new aspect, giving an overshield for fast paced gameplay. However, it’s cooldown is only 2 seconds shorter than rally barricade, making it kinda hard to justify using just for the cooldown.
Additionally, as a movement tool, it feels quite bad. I find myself wanting to chain it with my other movement abilities, trying to slide, into a shoulder charge, into a dash. However, the dash’s animation puts you at a complete stop for a moment after you use it, making it difficult to chain it into a slide, or to sprint away, or anything that would allow you to get out of a tough spot, which is what the ability seems to be meant for. In this case, it would be nice if it carried the user even just a bit farther, propelling the user a distance akin to a shoulder charge or behemoth punch would be really fun. I think that as far as fluid movement goes, it would be fun if shoulder charge and jest thrusters could animation cancel one another, allowing more options for quickly traversing the map.
As it sits now, it is just a worse hunter dodge. It would be nice if the titan’s dodge in turn had some secondary effect in line with hunters. Hunter dodge can make teammates radiant, restore a melee charge, or reload your weapons. I personally think it would be nice for it to give some sort of enhanced mobility, possibly granting the speed boost effect instantly, allowing you to get the buff outside of combat, and without needing to sprint, doing nothing for 3 seconds. Or maybe it could give some sort of ability regen, possibly producing a trace, or giving a bump akin to wellspring. Arc titans run off of melee charges, so if melee hunters can run their build off their dodge, it’s not overpowered for titans to get s little bump.
If any of these things would be too strong for pvp, it could be pretty easily balanced by only activating while amplified.
I think the jet thruster ability has the potential to be really cool, but as it is, it kinda just isn’t doing it for me.
