It's mostly people who've been padding their stats for years who the game now thinks are "Good" who are now being put in matches against players who actually are good that are leaving. They're facing the consequences of their own ego.
People leaving matches has been an issue for years, those same people who left were often times the same ones padding their stats.
While this isn't the ONLY reason for people leaving, its a very foundational issue that's been a growing problem within PvP for years
I'm not advocating for or against SBMM but blaming people for leaving early is NOT a direct result of SBMM on any significant level.
Connections can and probably will be an issue, that Bungie needs to address, BUT this issue has been just as prevalent in CBMM due in large part to Crossplay not giving a stable connection between Xbox and PlayStation players.
I have friends on both sides of the console wars, who have voiced to me that they rarely have issues with players on the same console as them but often find players on the opposing console lag.
I myself have had this issue in private matches many a time. It's oftentimes not the direct fault of either player, simply that CrossPlay doesn't give the connections we should expect. This is an issue that NEEDS to be addressed either way.
Another core issue is quite frankly that a LOT of "sweatlords" do want nothing more than to win and will often do anything to achieve it. Sometimes when these players then face an opponent they can't beat they simply leave to look for a weaker opponent they can beat ( you can often tell these sorts of players apart because they'll bag )
I don't have an opinion of SBMM vs CBMM as of yet, it's not even been a week yet but blaming SBMM for people leaving isn't whats really going on here.

Oh really and I thought it was because my blueberries were useless agains the enemy team or it was because there was a blinking titan in the enemy team or because half my team left.

Sbmm is directly related to how laggy these games are. IT IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO AHY PEOPLE QUIT GAMES EARLY.
-
3 RepliesLeaving a match early preserves kd. Fix this, fix the issue.

Edited by Bluebairy: 8/27/2022 3:10:03 AMSbmm has everything to do with why people are leaving pvp early. It happened in one of the early d2 seasons and a lot of people said it would happen again this season and they were correct. People leaving matches early the one season sbmm arrived isnt a coincidence its crazy how your in complete denial of it.

I leave matches bc 1. Either my team is leaving and I can’t win a single engagement bc it’s team shooting left n right, so that’s no fun. 2. Bc the opposite team has completely left and since I’m here to have fun, not to win I leave bc running left n right for 10 minutes trying to get one kill is not amusing to me

Can the game either drop players or turn your shot registration off but not both please.

You bet.

People been leaving early since the entire cheese fest was introduced with 3.0. Supposedly the devs wanted to cut down on special and ability spam but it's worse than ever. No one wants to deal with cheese and probably stacks. Bullsh!t bows, now 150 scouts, broken abilities, that's why people were and are still leaving. Lag is the same, queues are the same. The only difference now; the minority population gets to suffer like the others did when they kd farmed.

4 RepliesOf course sbmm is the reason. There is no other factor that’s new this season to explain the 1000% increase in players abandoning games.

Post seems pretty biased against a group. Some perspective. It feels very good in life and in games to see skill or knowledge be rewarded. An example, I’m in chemical engineering and there’s a lot of physics and chemistry so the basics of both of these are a cakewalk and when someone asks a basic chemistry question I get to answer it and sound smart and that feels good. Gaming is exactly the same, you spend ages improving and grinding for the best gear and you want to feel like the lobby badass. But that desire isn’t exclusive to any skill range.

1 ReplyThank you for putting this into words

Leaving a a game should add 10 deaths to your stats.
-
9 RepliesI will leave for one of 3 reasons 1-a stack that makes up 2/3+ of a team is present 2- last word or jotuun or chaperone are being used 3-if I hate the map. Any other match I’ll stick out to the end
-
16 RepliesNah everyone running stacks is what’s killing pvp. Seriously never seen so many people in 3-6 man teams. And that will kill pvp quicker than cbmm or sbmm
-
1 ReplyI leave if I’m solo queuing and matched against a 6 stack or a team that that multiple fire teams. It’s not fun to play against players who have the advantage of communication while my team is all solo players. I’m getting the sneaking suspicion that try hards are exploiting the matchmaking somehow.

16 RepliesEdited by Wes: 8/26/2022 8:11:30 PMWell, let's see here. In the higher brackets of SBMM, you're more likely to run into stacked teams, simply because teams have inflated stats. And with lobby balancing the way it is, the best player in the lobby still gets the worst 5 players on their team. SBMM didnt change that. It narrowed the skill variance, but it did not eliminate it. In the same bracket, you also have to run more meta relevant loadouts. You're gonna get punished if you don't. So...how exactly would those things NOT result on people leaving? Strict meta loadouts when you want to chill. Six stack after six stack. Constant 1v3s and 1v4s. I mean I just saw a video where the author posted screenshots and recordings of match after match where as many as ELEVEN players left in one match. On one game, they were entirely solo. Lost that game, and then loaded into a match where a six stack was deliberately ignoring the zones to farm kills and stats. This just did not happen to them under CBMM. Ever. That's what SBMM brought them. SBMM does not generate the same game quality for people at the extreme vs at the average. That is an absolute fact. To say SBMM and people leaving are entirely unrelated is just not true. When I read the patch notes for SBMM, Bungie said they would be tuning it server side as the season went on. Here's to hoping they make good on that. Maybe not remove it, but it certainly should be loosened a bit. Also it had no business shipping without team based matchmaking. Just consolidating all the six stacks to the top 10% of the playerbase doesn't make their opponents want to keep playing.

Edited by Big_EviL932: 8/27/2022 2:07:38 PMI've left hundreds of times. "Attention, contacting destiny servers" is responsible for 100% of them. That's why you don't get a penalty for it. Now joining a gambit match that's almost over and the team is way to far gone to win? I'm outee faster than you can say please help. Oddly enough I get penalized over that.

1 ReplyThe connections between crossplay are horrid at best. Bungie needs to stop it in pvp until they can get a better grip on connections. It more frustrating than fun to play. I know it’s not like wave a magic wand but you’d think they would have the know how by now to stabilize the connections
-
Nah, if they take the kd stat away it would change nothing.
-
2 RepliesStacks everywhere in control today going hard with cheese weapons just killing it ..
-
SBMM is responsible for finding their opponents so yes, SBMM is the reason why they’re quitting more than they used to. Why do you think they are vehemently opposed to SBMM? Don’t forget, it’s all about the connections 😂😂
-
2 RepliesI didn't read this post fully, but I agree. Stats are a problem. Imo Bungie should just disable all stat tracking from the game, both internally and on 3rd party apps/websites, so people can't do stuff like "looking for K/D 3.0+" and such in LFG.

Edited by hate n payne: 8/27/2022 12:07:09 AMI always said that teams need to face other teams before changing CBMM to SBMM. Now that we have SBMM, that focus still needs to be addressed. This is why normal Trials is bad because it allows solos versus stacks which is one of the quickest ways to have a horrific experience. Yes you can beat pre-designed teams but if they are players who are always playing together, their strategies and experiences are already established. The easiest way to pad stats, win or become successful in your activities for the most part is to make a pre designed team and this can easily be proved via any content in the game currently.
-
I quit because all my team are quitting and it’s rarely a 6v6 game. The connections are horrible and PvP is currently the least fun it’s ever been for mw.
-
It’s funny why those leave matches just because of stats I mean literally who cares lmao Connections are certainly worse, but it could be because of start of season. I was kicked back to orbit twice in a row in survival and got banned
