Sudden High CPU usage

After installing latest NVIDIA driver update (V 516.94) on 8/14/2022, Destiny 2 now is occupying up to 70-80% CPU usage pinning the CPU at 100% which is causing thermal throttling with noticeable FPS drops. This was not happening before the update. System information: Processor: Intel i5-9500 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3000 Mhz Installed Physical Memory: 32.0 GB GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

Hello I apologize in advance, English is not my first language. Try this: - Find the game's executable (%steam folder% \steamapps\common\Destiny 2) and in the Compatibility tab, make sure "Disable fullscreen optimization" is unchecked (more on this below*) - Install the drivers using DDU; (yep, 516.94 is a good one) - Clear video driver shader cache; - Clear DirectX shader cache; *Also in the TWAB before WQ (Jan 27, 2022) Bungie mentioned, that with release of The Witch Queen Destiny 2, on Windows 10 (and up), will be using 'dxgi flip model' feature, which means, that D2 became a DirectX 12 title; The thing with this flip model is, that Windowed Fullscreen should provide the same (or better) performance compared to exclusive Fullscreen. (How this DirectX feature works is explained in the yt video ”DirectX 12: Presentation Modes In Windows 10”) Try it out and let us know
