This would motivate (even bad) people to play. There would still be an incentive to get mementos and a high volume of adept weapons from the flawless chest, but this would allow for a better matchmaking environment and the removal of the dreaded flawless and non flawless pools.
Just a thought.
Edit: I am not a trash can. I go flawless pretty much every week. Before you reply something about handouts, that’s not what this is about. I want Trials numbers to increase.
-
As long as the rewards are tied to wins, people like me who hate the Crucible have zero incentive to go in there, thus reducing the population size and making it more sweaty.
-
1 ReplyTrials need to be more rewarding that's for sure, better weapons and maybe even some spoils from flawless chest
-
Trials isn’t competitive and people should stop pretending that it is
-
I'll be honest with you. Most people who arent playing right now arent going to play enough trials to reset their rank. The overall experience is just terrible for those players.
-
Every time a player loads into the tower they should be given every single available piece of loot in the game.
-
I actually played trials yesterday a bunch, since they had freelance and double points. Was able to reset my trials rank for the first time. Having better loot and double rank points more often might help encourage the lower tiered players, like myself to play more often. Especially when combined with freelance, for mostly solo players. On a side note, got my complete set of monkey armor! 😁🐒

9 RepliesA Vanguard Rank Reset should award an adept weapon This would motivate (even bad) people to play. There would still be an incentive to get gilded conqueror and a high volume of adept weapons from grandmasters, but this would allow for a better matchmaking environment and the removal of the dreaded Grandmaster lfg pool. Just a thought.

2 RepliesI responded the other day, but here is some more food for thought. Trials is considered and endgame activity, so it's rewards should be worthy of being one. Currently its simply not rewarding unless you can reach 7-wins and continue to win after that. Even Iron Banner is more rewarding than Trials. Trials needs post match drops regardless of win/loss just like all other PvP modes. The drops could be non-trials gear and masterworking materials. As you rack up wins on your card your gear drops have increased chances to be Trials gear and get better/more masterworking materials (ie 0-wins drop enhancement cores or legendary shards, 7-wins drop Prisms or Ascendent Shards/Alloys). Wins could reward more/better masterworking materials than losses. Wins with a 7-win card would be as it is today, so chances at high end masterworking materials and Trials Engrams. A loss with a 7-win card would have chances at lower end masterworking materials and a Trials gear drop (not an engram). I think this would help considering it takes forever to rank up to get a single engram, especially once you get to the higher ranks. Even mid tier players can spend an entire afternoon playing and end up with 2-3 engrams. Whats the point of banging your head against the wall for that? It's not.

IMHO, have the Adept tied to 7 wins, having the mods and more cosmetic stuff from the Lighthouse. That way Flawless Pool has no reason to exist, and the population won't be in almost constant free fall. You could also add SBMM to it, and probably honestly permanent Freelance. Because it's better for the mode to have someone go 7-31 than it is to have them go, even say 10-0
-
It's kinda silly, but I'm not against it. But all Adept weapons should come with the mementos already on them. Not just crafted weapons, that I never understood.
-
I want free handouts. But I also think this tarnishes the “prestige” of Trials adept weapons. Certainly an interesting idea though, maybe a different reward that isn’t an adept weapon?
-
no it must be earned and plus non flawless pool will have more sweats cause there farming for a trials adept
-
11 RepliesMy thought is there's already enough participation trophies in the game as it is.
-
2 RepliesAbsolutely not lmao. I want a Adept Silicone Neuroma, but I don’t feel like playing PvE so I don’t deserve one.
-
Not a good idea, you could keep losing every game almost until your rank finally resets. So you get Adept for just keeping playing?
-
Edited by SaTzu: 8/12/2022 1:41:19 PMEdit: LMAO I mentioned this to my clan, and one even better counter-example was brought up. If you decide to push through with this, A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL JUST USE MACROS TO INTENTIONALLY LOSE TRIALS TO GET EXP. Because why win when I'm gonna get an adept weapon at the end anyway. And if this was your intention, then you're worse than what I assumed you are. If you're a casual player, then go to casual crucible and get casual loot. Trials is end-game PVP. If the population is small, then that's normal. You don't see casual players doing GMs/Raids (especially Master Raids).
-
10 RepliesIf you want trials numbers to increase, encourage players to get better and practice more. Instead of playing 3 games a week for pinnacles and then complaining about getting spanked.
-
Absolutely not. That's what we call a participation trophy.
-
Edited by Illuminary: 8/12/2022 11:44:46 AMNo it wouldn't, maybe some, but not all. Takes too long to reset, I'm not going to sit in 25 to 50 matches getting pounded to oblivion by try hards. I can easily get my adepts from GMs. Game is way too repetitive and boring to continuously play that much in one activity for possibly mediocre weapons. You want more people to play match making and lobby balancing needs to be corrected first, the loot pool needs to be worth it in all facets of the game, and Bungaroni shouldn't pick and choose their buffs/nerfs based on a sample of the population crying something is killing them.

23 RepliesEdited by Ferus Lux: 8/11/2022 11:31:16 AMAlso, put Adept weapons from Grandmasters as reset rewards and seasonal challenge rewards and create Adept gambit weapons rewarded from resets for anyone still playing that mode.
-
I do like the idea buyt something I kinda miss and someone mentioned it a few daze back...curated rolls. What if instead of Adept, all playlist/trials awarded demi-god-"god" tier curated weapons. Every reset offered a different weapon. This could keep Adepts exclusive but create incentive. I'm a PvE main that only does PvP I'd "needed". I do however like certain things to stand out...

Decent idea, there certainly has to be something figured out with trials. Player numbers are declining badly. I’m one of them. It’s a slog to play that mode. I stopped really trying to play it consistently because the intensity of the sweats is a bit much. I’m generally above average but I’m also not trying to play a video game and become more annoyed/stressed because of it. trials is a unique situation where if player numbers fall, the game mode suffers greatly. I’m not sure what the answer is but I really enjoyed trials in D1 and the matchmaking felt more balanced back then.

how about no scott adept weapons are to easy to get as it is
-
Then if you want trials numbers to increase give good rewards. Some bad players will be happy to get their useless shinny adept weapon from time to time. But in reality most trials weapons arent interesting and adept doesnt really help

2 RepliesSo long as it wasn’t a completely random roll that becomes nothing more than gunsmith rank and a few shards. Let it be random but desirable Let flawless runs (should they keep that) be highly desirable rolls with other cosmetics and loot.
