Exactly 24 hours ago a severe thunderstorm rolled in and lightning obliterated a pole less than 200 from me. Took power company 3 hours to restore, and let me give you a bit of background, the utility in question is FPL (Florida Power & Light) and they normally have things up in 40 minutes or less. Took my ISP and phone provider 16 HOURS just to get a dial tone. Router came back, tried multiple resets and eventually we discovered all the Ethernet ports were fried. I have only my nearly 10yo ps4 and a doorstop pc attached to it. Got a new router, PCs… fine… for something slower than 1996 model anything… but the PS4 no longer registers a LAN cable. My new model has great WiFi, excellent for streaming. But we know where this is heading, don’t we? It’s WiFi. Games like D2 will flat out ban you for unstable connection. I have tried nearly everything. I’m going to get a new Ethernet cable tomorrow, but the PC connects and I tried its cable already. I think my enet port in my PS4 is gone. It’s well past warranty, I’m broke as hell. I’m glad this current season is so abysmal and dull, because I think I’m eating the verbal bullet here. And before you go ‘git ps5!’ yeah been there, tried that when I HAD money. Which I no longer do. I guess I’d like to hear from anyone who’s dealt with this problem. Did a lot of searching, and so far no solutions that work. Until then… we’ll, I can at least watch Stranger Things S4 part II Friday. Also, -blam!- you, nature. Don’t mess with my stuff.
