crafting should not require 5 weapons from rng sources.

we can focus at crown but the 2 dungeon weapons need 5 deepsight and they cannot be focused, purely rng.

  • I play quite a bit. It's really my main thing I do in my free time and I just NOW today have ONE weapon pattern unlocked for the season. It's a bit excessive indeed. There are several still at 0 or 1 so like. I get it you don't want everyone to craft god rolls in a week and move on to a new game or whatever but like... Dear Lord man. I would hate to see my progress if I was a once a week player or something. I feel like 3 is the sweet spot. At worst its 3 weeks per weapon from the guaranteed red box you can purchase. So even if you just want like 2 or 3 weapons that method alone with 3 will take the whole season. Idk. The way it is now is a bit much. Plus it completely devalues anything not redboxed for the most part. Get a decent roll on something but could use maybe a better mag or scope? Why keep it forever when I can craft one to my specifications? I don't know the exact fix I'm not an expert but I don't like the way this works so far. If you just want to hit me with "casuals want everything handed to them" spare me. Trying to have an actual constructive conversation on ways to IMPROVE this system. Not HANDOUTS.

    • That opulent chest chance must be low because that -blam!- never works each week for me im just better off focusing but getting opulent energy kinda sucks wish we can increase the amount we can carry.

        • yup… spent over 3 hours at the castellum the other day and only got 1 red border. my world drop calus mini tool already has 5k kills on it, at this point what’s the incentive to craft a slightly better gun after i’ve already been using the one i have in master content without any trouble?

          • You know, it could be 10 or 15 or any number and I would't care. The problem is the actual drop rate of the deepsight versions. If you could force these guns to drop as a deepsight version by, let's say, killing Gahlran under a certain ammount of time, I would be fine with it.

          • I'm off of this hamster wheel. The Leviathan is the most boring activity possible and they expect us to mindlessly farm chests for hours, praying that we get a red-bordered weapon to then complete. It's so braindead and no wonder why they waited until the last second to post this season's trailer. Total waste of hard drive space and time.

            • What would be nice is if there was a mechanic where every 3 normal versions of a weapon could be traded in for a red bar and after you have your crafted version you can infuse with additional versions for quick levels on your gun. Keep random drops relevant and make every weapon found relevant to the crafting chase.

              • I don’t understand . Why should it or shouldn’t it . This is a brand new system to destiny . How can you say it shouldn’t when you didn’t developer it .why do you need to blast through content . Just to make another post saying there’s no content . No grind.

                • [quote]we can focus at crown but the 2 dungeon weapons need 5 deepsight and they cannot be focused, purely rng.[/quote] I wouldn’t mind as much if ALLLL weapons could be crafted with the exception of Adept and timelost and such but all other weapons need to be craftable idc if I have to get five or even 40 to unlock the crafted weapon I don’t want 30 copies of one gun in my vault while I go through each one and decide which one I like most all while being over loaded with new guns when I still haven’t sorted out the first gun then new copies of that gun drop and I have to see if it’s better and that could take hours just trying to clean my stuff up just to be back to over loaded the next day if all guns were crafted I would only need one of each gun after it was crafted and I could delete everything else and just use vault for armor rolls

                      Agreed. Should get the pattern off the first red box you get. Every red box after(of the same weapon) should be broken down to unlock a perk/perk slot. Should then have to grind weapon use to upgrade those perks from “normal” to “enhanced”. Maybe have different levels of enhancement like in d1. No need for any currency. Keep it simple bungie..

                      • I think all guns need 3 deepsights and maybe exotics and raid gun need 3 and also add more direct ways to get gun exp or another QOL update would be at what levels you unlock enhanced perks for a gun

                        • Honestly I think 5 is fine for the regular season activities but I will agree on drops for the dungeon. The other night me and a couple clan mates were farming for stormchaser and 2 of us got armor 5 times in a row. Couldn't imagine trying to grind out for the 2 craftables.

                            It is interesting that they add bad luck protection to wellspring, just to turn around and bring back rng that is arguably even more demanding than how wellspring started, pre-changes Wellspring probably changed because of its blocking us from exotics, but it is still quite a lot to (today with the new gear) ask for 5 weapon patterns in rng that is probably quantitatively harder to beat than wellspring was.

                          • These drops rates and requirements are so bad that I am leaning heavily towards not buying the new 10 dollar "event pass" if they are not fixed. They have, as of yet, refused to comment, which often means they do not care at all and will not address it. These are [u]seasonal[/u] weapons that unlock [u]seasonal[/u] triumphs that you should be able to complete easily within a season. I have only been able to complete three so far, as I have gotten almost nothing but mini-tools from opulent chests.

                          • 1. Really not that bad with multiple guaranteed drops each week plus usually seeing some more from opulent chests. 2. Also remember this content is here until end of Y5, you don't need to mow through everything. We're not even halfway done with this season. 3. Then how should we do it? If you are going to say something lets actually provide an idea of a solution. On that note, here's an idea for a change: Crafting pattern is unlocked by doing various things with only 1 deepsighted version of the gun but that deepsighted version is not easy to get nor something you get right away but isn't RNG either. So lets just say crafting was a thing back in Season 13 and you wanted to craft a Extraordinary Rendition. To get the deepsight of the weapon you'd have to do some extra secret stuff on the Glykon. Beat the mission, ok there's your deepsight for it, now to unlock the pattern. -Dismantling other gear to strengthen it (something we do constantly in the background) -Killing say 500 enemies or 75 guardians with the weapon (pretty quick, just a few strikes or 5 minutes at Altars or like 2-5 games of PvP) -Clearing a Legend+ activity -And then they could have a few different quest missions for crafting that are based on the weapon types that you go do that definitely are no walk in the park and serve as the hardest part. In between a legend and master lost sector in difficulty while incorporating unique elements the likes we saw in the Last Word quest but for the respective weapon types. Then boom there's your blueprint, now go craft the gun. This way its not trivializing things and giving more reason for Bungie to improve some of the enhanced perks quite a bit while removing RNG without an overly crazy grind but asks you to at least understand how to play the game so not everyone and their mother has busted stuff for free. If this were the case, I'd argue make max level for weapons 30 rather than 16 so enhanced perks can maybe even be a bit stronger while maybe allowing for some other upgrades/mechanics to the crafted weapons that rather than just XP come from activities like dungeons and raids and so forth. This is the direction I'd go if I were in charge of the weapon crafting. Make it somewhat difficult but still very accessible with no RNG but then ask for some serious work on the weapon itself. However, I'd also reward that work with a powerful weapon that has its place.
