Our guardian helped give people back their memories but who is our guardian
Why did they die? Who did they sacrifice for? Do they have any living relatives in the city?
Our guardian is watching everyone around them recollect their treasured memories and find peace in who they are and we’re supposed to believe that our guardian isnt feeling a little left out?
A side-mission where we play as one of the vanguard in order to save our personal guardian from themselves by reminding them of who they were would be neat
Definitely dont care to know more about obscure enemy figure heads that were evil until 3.5 seconds before Bungie decided to give them another convoluted backstory

2 RepliesDeepsight should be the answer to finding out about our past
-
Here’s the thing. The guardian(yes, that’s the canon name) has a past life, but the thing about that is that us as the guardian is unique completely. Our past has no meaning and thus, the memories are better left in the future.

1 ReplyMy guardian died because when he met the fallen he thought they were some drunk Russians on halloween night trying to pick a fight but little did he know…..
-
We died in the middle of an old Russian highway, likely several years ago. Anything there that would help Identify ourselves probably decomposed or ended up getting looted by the fallen

What part of create your character and your backstory being your own do you not understand? Do you really think Bungie is gonna make a single origin for countless players who are either exo, human, or awoken and haven't all been to the same places?

2 RepliesEdited by Seraph: 6/23/2022 7:47:00 AMSame reason why Bungie is reluctant to make the Guardian speak alot. A lot of players want to role play that 'they' are the Guardian, or at the very least have creative control over their Guardian's personality and background. Bungie works very hard to keep the Guardian a blank canvas for the player.

2 RepliesI was hoping we would have a nightmare for the story Maybe something to explain why our character stopped talking after statues came to life in black garden

4 RepliesMine died in traffic jam long ago all I want to know

who cares

1 ReplyYour gaurdian is supposed to be you. So make up your own story.
-
Well, we know are Guardian was in the cosmodrome, and if human, likely escaping the collapse. As an exo, we came from DSC, and were probably fighting back against Hive/Fallen etc. (Although in that one cutscene when Ghost revives you it's a skeleton even if ur an exo.) As an Awoken, some of the Techeun and corsairs recognized you, so you were probably pretty involved with the Reef
-
They probably left it that way so you can insert your headcanon. If they fed me a story, I may not like it. Like the last couple years of the destiny story. Soggy butt cheeks.
-
I just want our guardian to talk to the other characters during in game activities instead of our ghost. Our guardian only talks during cutscenes and when they do it’s the most bland bull crap that literally anyone could have said better. Like remember when Crow accidentally killed the psion and asked us what we think? Why did my -blam!- just stand there like a big dolt being completely mute??

From our conversation with the witness at the end of Shadowkeep, we know that our Nightmare is ourselves. Our greatest fear is what we could become should we ever fall to temptation in the pursuit of greater power. The tragedy of Rezzyl Azir is simply a cautionary tale.

11 RepliesIt's supposed to be up to interpretation. As in...you write your own backstory. Maybe try being creative once in a while?

1 ReplyEdited by ]Prophet[: 6/19/2022 8:57:06 PMYou want to be like Zavala? Having nightmares, regrets, questioning your own existence? I'd love to know more about the Guardians as a whole and how it all started and happened from the reason they actually exists. Im trying to watch as much about D1/D2 as I can, but its a lot to take in and stay in touch with the lore right now. I just wish Cadye would some how be resurrected later on! I only play a Warlock and LOVE Ikora, but Cadye's story-line was epic to me. Reminds me of Gambit from the early X-men days.

Pretty sure it's canon that our Guardian was a Bungie QA tester in their previous life. We thought we had no Nightmare this season...but the bugs have been here the whole time...

2 RepliesWhile there currently isn’t really any lore on who we were, there is lore that implies there is something very different about our guardian, to the degree that even though ghosts have neural links to their guardians (which allows them to know what we think and feel), our ghost can not see into us at all. That same reason might be why none of the nightmares are directly linked to us.

1 ReplyUsing the alter of reflection, we should be able to see our past if we found and item that was on us at the time of revival. Most likely though, our guardian was one of the many trying to flee Earth, durning the Collapse, on board the exodus ships. It's possible we were on the the ship that fell over which is why our guardian was revived outside the city wall.

our guardians are unique and individuals, if bungie gave a (the same) back story to all players it would take away from the individuality. they would probably also have to come up with a few different backstories depending on if your guardian is human, awoken, exo, male or female.
-
Nah, I fully believe my character died overdosing on crayola and was resurrected as a titan to withstand the drawbacks of my meal of choice.
-
Our guardian isnt the main character in Destiny. We're the mcGuffin

I've been able to make up lore for all my Guardians so I can kinda look past that. What I do wonder is why the Savior of the City doesn't get to have at least a small apartment so we have somewhere to live. Not like we're sleeping sitting down in our ships for 8+ years, where do we hang out when not on duty?
-
The answer to those questions is very different from what I think about my guardian and yours. "The guardain" is left very vague like reach's noble six as to let you fill in what you want.
-
Because it doesnt matter who you were before the colapse. See, the "everyone" you are speaking of is crow, which is the exception of the exception. The only other one that come as close to know their past is ana bray, and even then, she only knows what she can find, while he knows everything. Besides, its supposed to be a blank slate for you to create. Make your own.
