Destiny 2 crashing on startup, completely freezes/yields
the lfg discord collectively operates on five neurons at most
can't make it past the character select screen + no error code/message
did a fresh reinstall of my video drivers, and on latest patch of destiny 2
not trying to eliminate all possibilities but i only encountered this issue ever since i updated my drivers

GeForce driver version 516.40

rivatuner, discord, spotify, browser DIM/light.gg/youtube

I had the same issue, then i noticed some game peripheral app was recording FPS.... D2 Spiked up to 439 FPS on my GPU. I capped the frame rate at 120, hasn't crashed since. So yeah its some interplay between game and GPU.

Can confirm, it just stops mostly on loading into a zone when i got it so far, else at character selection. Started after updating to 516.40

The problem is latest nvidia driver 516.40. Rollback to 512.95.
