Can we not move this game on to Unreal Engine?

No more DCV or Fps issues for majority of players. The game seems to be running with one hand behind it's back and not being able to live to it's full potential due to current Engine limitations, so why not getting rid of them, bring back all DCV back which would bring more players, and everyone could finally do whatever they want in game, not being fed crumbs because of DCV every few months.

  • I don't think you get how hard switching engines is. Think of it as switching out the engine in a car to an engine from a differend brand, 10 years newer compared to the old engine. None of the mechanics would line up, you'd have to painfully look at electrical diagrams and fabricate adapters to make it work. After that it's days of testing and spending money to re-train all people that need to make things for the car. Think that but about 1000 times more complexity. Without exaggerating that could take in the absolute best, practically imaginary, case about 3,744 million man hours which would cost bungie (very conservatively) about 116775000 USD without having made any content.

  • Porting game engines, especially scripting and physics, is so annoyingly difficult that it would literally be easier to just make D3

      • To everyone saying it would take forever. Not exactly true. All maps etc could be exported as .obj files and textures could easily be moved over. Most of the work would be transferring code. That could be really easy IF they use similar code, or dang near impossible if not. Anyone know what Bungo uses to code their stuff?

          • They could. Its literally just a case of copy/paste to UE I suspect it would take a while for all the files to copy over but I would be OK with a day of downtime.

              • Things would be a lot better if next gen consoles weren’t in such low supply. The Xbone and PS4 probably would’ve been separated with Witch Queen by now like what happened with Rise of Iron or TTK (I forget when it happened)

              • Sadly; bungie said as of april 2020, that they'll never change or create a new engine for destiny. The "new" engine "tiger" is an updated version from 2014. Which sadly enough is an upgraded version of the engine from Halo4. "Matter" may be on a completely new engine, but more than likely not. The only hope is that game manufacturers start using these new products and resources to enhance the games across the board. We have had a lot of absolute failures recently, and players are growing more apprehensive when it comes to trusting these game producers and publishers.

                • Thinking about it maybe but at the same time would we still be in the same situation anyway? Dcv, sunsetting same mechanics used through the game etc.

                • The nicest thing I can say is that this is unrealistic. It would require them to: A spend years remaking stuff they've already made B scrap everything currently in development for the future and start over C after spending months or years learning and or developing new tools For basically no return other than something looks a bit shinier. It also would do nothing for the vaulted content. The vault exists not because of storage space, but because there is not enough time or people to test new guns or abilities on someplace like Mercury where barely anyone went. If I'm not mistaken, the game engine is basically a very heavily modified version of the one used for Halo Reach. You don't just swap it out like you're buying new curtains.

                  • Even just leaving behind old gen like we did when rise of iron came around would probably allow Bungie to do at least a little more of higher quality content

                    • impossible, this will take too long , and with how they optimize pc unreal engine will have even more problems, UE is terrible if bad optimized

                    • How nice it would be if they were able to port it to a better engine, able to merge D1 and D2 and have 0 bugs and wouldnt need to perform tweaks and updates etc... That would be the day. Its unrealistic right now though.

                    • They'll never do that probably. I've kinda wished it myself. I developed for UE many years ago and Bungie is super into making their own crappy engine instead of using something that's vastly superior. Been this way for about 20 years. I suppose it's possible, but very unlikely.

Sure, Armchair-Developer. Lets Bungie waste 3 years to re-code Destiny 2 1:1 on Unreal Engine instead of developing more content on a working engine. Good idea /s

Yea but I think "the final shape" will be the last dlc period for destiny 2 on legendary console for Xbox and PS4 after that the sequel will be current gen only hopefully with a complete overhaul with the engine I honestly wish it have the same gameplay but with more visual improvement along with Anthem Open world type of maps

They still use the same garbage tiger engine that they used for halo... It's like 20 years old now... 😂😂

                          • Would rather dedicated servers but maybe. I honestly think after D2 Final Shape we may get a D3 or a massive overhaul period. I’m not sure but I wouldn’t blame Bungie if they’ve been using labs, DCV to better aim at building a more F2P MMO RPG Looter Shooter perfected game through the ups and downs of this current game.

                          • Soon as bungie lost a court case against aim junkies who has all their codeing. makeing destiny 3 should of been on the top of bungies prioritys to make sure aswel to use a different engine that's up to date

                            • If you don't know what you're doing in UE, there are definitely going to be FPS issues. Even if you do though, Bungie's engine does aim sensitivity so much better. Just compare D2 with Borderlands 3 on console, it's not even close after Bungie added seperate sensitivity setting for ADS and turning.

I took a break before Witch Queen came out. I played Final Fantasy 14. People playing music in one of the main cities and 30 people dancing and chilling. The quests. The characters. A lot of it is fun. I had someone give me a free mount and minion. Someone did a performance of magic skills in front of me. Now I'm Max level on one class. It's a game that actually rewards you for your time rather than praying for good RNG. There still is RNG but you get a currency that allows you to buy the gear you need for the next expansion. As well as daily bonuses for XP and MONEY. I recommend taking a break from destiny and finding another game. It will definitely help. I was in your position too. But once I finally bought FFXIV, I was excited to play the game rather than say "sigh.... Alright. Guess I have to do this."
