Because otherwise it really doesn't feel worth it. Not everyone has such high amounts of legendary shards that the costs are irrelevant, and for those that do it's not like these high costs are gonna drain their reserves.
All this serves to do is hurt the people without high shard reserves.
Edit: Yes, I know about the legendary shard farm glitch, but that's irrelevant because we all know bungie is eventually gonna patch it and then this is gonna go right back to being a problem.

Edited by Skim Jong-milk: 6/7/2022 8:54:52 PMIron Banner focusing is probably this expensive because bungie wants there to be a way for rich veterans to spend all of their legendary shards. Think about how many shards players are willing to dump for focusing, even though other similar weapons exist. It's just their way of balancing the economy.

The real kick in the teeth is the 27 opulent umbral energy it takes to focus a weapon at the Helm after you unlock that perk. You get so few from a containment activity... you have to run like 5-7 of them just to get enough to focus 1 weapon.
-
1 ReplyRelax, you don't haver those Legendary Shards now, but one day you will. Iron Banner doesn't haver great weapons, so you shouldn't care. Convert tour engrams without focusin them.
-
1 ReplyYou can also take them to Raul and decrypt them free of charge. You can do the same in Trials.
-
2 RepliesHard agree, even though I find 90% of the IB loot to be pretty bad. Isn’t it like 250 shards to get another adept from Saint? Pretty ridiculous. Only reason I have shards is from the farm that’s out now.
-
For reference if you bought the season pass and leveled up enough to get the legendary shard boost from dismantling, you would need to dismantle 25~ legendaries to focus one weapon. Without the boost you would need to dismantle 33+ Legendary items Side note: I went free to play for a while and honestly this seems like another way to push people to buy the season pass. Not only do you level up a lot slower so your much less likely to finish the pass, but you loose out on so many resources from the paid side. you also have fewer legendary drops to dismantle since you as the pass increases the drop chances for the season pass weapons if you buy it and level up
-
34 Repliesstop complaining theres a glitch where you can get unlimited legendary shards using a pieace of garbage starter armor trick.
-
Agree. If the weapons were better, the cost would be justified. As it is, not so much.

2 RepliesLegendary Shards are infinite tho. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/261172996?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

2 Repliesa game design choice that actually makes the community happy? Your heads in the clouds that's not bungies style.
-
Not gonna happen. Legit request but would have a negative impact on playtime.
-
2 Replies25 wouldn’t be unreasonable. 100 is a price tag for veterans exclusively or those who play insane amounts everyday. That being said, there’s a pretty easy shard farm if it hasn’t been patched yet
-
2 RepliesWth is worth focusing at Saladin anyway? Lol
-
3 RepliesJust do the shard farm.

I 2nd this

2 RepliesEdited by Haters: 6/5/2022 4:38:46 PMGot my incandescent/ unrelenting mini. And I’m Never focusing haunted items again. Trash system that demands you grind an unfun event for a shot at the wheel of randomness.

2 RepliesI still haven't gotten a single firefight with red border. I've gotten I think 3 out of the many I've done...BUT HERE'S YOUR SHOTGUN/ARMOR PIECE.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 6/6/2022 2:51:19 AMI gave up on getting the Peacebond I really wanted and just ended up masterworking the only only one with Headstone I ever rolled. Between the IB weapon focusing cost and all other focusing costs I went through several thousand shards this week and got basically nothing I really wanted. I now have under 1k shards for the first time I can remember since…. I don’t even know. The combination of this and the return to low drop rates and horrible RNG have already made this season leave a bad taste. Not a single weapon drop with Incandescent yet. Calus mini hasn’t dropped once yet. I get SO much armor and very few weapons from Duality. Haven’t seen Fixed Odds once yet and I’ve only seen the other weapons once each and not a single one of them was even close to the roll I’d want. The odds feel so stacked against me it makes me not really want to try for anything right now.

5 RepliesI haven't had the opportunity to spend 100 shards yet. Can't wait. Got another three weeks of grind to get to that particular pleasure. Bungie has no idea how to run a currency system. Never has. The Crown of Sorrow upgrades. You need Darkness things of some sort. Lots of them. How to get them? Do countless bounties and patrols and a few Tierr IIIs, and gradually level up, and you can get ONE of these things every 10 levels. Oh, and ONE a week, when you plough through Eris's never Sever Quest. I've given it a fair shot, but this Weapon Crafting is a Crock! Bungie designed it as a Crock, and for once they're successful. It's not possible to craft a weapon that is better then a possible random roll. There are no extras. I've crafted a weapon, only to have the exact same perks drop as random. Wheeee!!! And as far as the little, tiny, weeny bit of extra with those flash perks, keep em! I got interested in that Scout Rifle, Tears of Contrition. OK, to start it off, I need five Red Borders. Where do they come from? The Leviathan. (Of course!) After more then 20 Tier III completions, I have the grand total of TWO (count 'em) TWO, TofC, and neither is a Red Border! I'm convinced Bungie is conning us all. All thisw crap is for Streamer who work at it all day. I've finally read a suggestion why this is so. New Players! Yes, a new player watches this crap, and thinks he/she can do the same thing after a few minutes playing the game. Then, when they find out they have to play for 500 hours to get anywhere, they abandon the whole thing. Bungie doesn't care, they have the players money, and they don't have to fund their playing. I don't like being conned, but at least I now know I'm being conned.

9 RepliesEdited by Scratch: 6/5/2022 11:03:36 PMWeapon crafting was toted as a way to relieve the strain on our vault, except it does no such thing. If Bungie really wanted to accomplish this, multiple perks on crafted weapons would be the way. If instead of having to vault one gun with perks AB, one with perks CB, one with perks AD, one with perks CD, we could craft one gun with selectable perks A/B and C/D, for all intents and purposes our game would remain the same AND relieve the strain on our vaults AND we get to use perks we may not normally use. We'd only have to store that one gun instead of four. There's a lot of interesting perks that I simply will never use because if I'm only going to keep one copy of a weapon, it's going to be the one with the 'go to' perks. If we could unlock multiple selectable perks then there would be a chance of my trying those other perks, but as it stands, I'm never going to use them because the gold standard perks will always take precedence. Shame, really. All these cool perks but only the best of the best are keepers

1 ReplyBetter to just turn the engrams in to Craptarch Rafool and pray to R N Geebus.
-
2 RepliesI have gotten so many peace bonds this season and last season and not a single one with subsistence and headstone and it’s just to have a little fun in PVE, not even for a serious end game build.
-
3 RepliesAll of them except trials should be 20-25 shards. I have a lot but stopped focusing after a week or so last season outside of the guaranteed deepsight focus This season is even worse with how many weapons are in each loot pool.
-
I have over 41k shards and I don't even want to use 100 to focus an engram. That's not even taking in to account the Opulent Umbral Energy farming. Maybe if they were guaranteed Deepsight modification or something, but still, the cost is too high.
