A great idea, I wish we had it for life. I hate it when someone comes up to me and says Hi and I'm all like "Hey.... you!"
I did a LOT of random raiding in D1 and unintentionally picked up tons of strays. Then yeah a week or 2 later and I'd get that message "Hey wanna do a raid/Nightfall/Trials?" like we're besties, when I've done 20+ raids since I met them. No chance of remembering who they are.
But honestly its something Xbox/PS/Steam should implement themselves. I doubt Bungie will (or even can) do it themselves.

I had about 10 different lists made that i put random people I played with in so I knew where I met them. It is now longer an option. Steam does allow placing your friends in a category

Exactly. I do give players I add in World of Warcraft always a note, otherwise I am soon like "who tf is that even and why is he/she in my friendlist?"

Simple tags could work, although to be honest I'd only need 2: OK and C***
