Molten Overload Requires Ignition To Stun Overload Champions

Molten Overload disrupts combatants but it doesn't stun Overload Champions... unless you Ignite them: In the following clips, I'm on Warlock using Dawnblade with Empowering Rift, Incinerator Snap, Fusion Grenades, and Touch of Flame. I'm using Starfire Protocol to get two Fusion Grenades off and to quickly charge a third. I'm in the Master Lost Sector K1 Logistics which is 1590 and I'm at 1566, or 24 under, a good reference point for Grandmaster's. Solar Grenades (particularly with Sunbracers) function similarly, and may apply scorch better, but Starfire illustrates my point efficiently. For clarity, the Molten Overload mod reads "Solar grenades cause disruption, delaying ability regeneration and lowering combatant damage output. Strong against Overload Champions." All previous iterations like this (The void overload grenades from last season for example) procced on impact, so the requirement for ignitions seems unintended. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/play/media/F7L9WMVH https://www.xbox.com/en-US/play/media/M4M48C3T In the first clip, I hit the Overload Captain with three Fusion Grenades (first one didn't stick, but they were hit by the follow up explosion). They glowed red, stopped regenerating health, and stopped teleporting - that shows that they were successfully overloaded; just not stunned (which is dangerous if you saw how low my health was). In the second clip however, I hit them with a Fusion Grenade and an Incinerator Snap, and the Snap is far more effective at applying Scorch, and thereby Ignition. The Overload Captain was [i]immediately[/i] stunned. I threw an extra grenade not expecting the stun so fast, and dumped some rockets to end them quickly. TL;DR: Molten Overload applies Overload but requires Ignition to stun Overload Champions. Is this intended or a bug? P.S: Sorry about the poor video quality btw. Wanted to get this out quickly and not break out the elgato. P.P.S: Perhaps a quicker third Fusion Grenade would have stunned the Overload Captain in the first clip but...really?

  • So, they swapped the disfunctional status of the Overload SMG/AR mod from last season over to this season’s Molten Overload grenade mod. Nice, how sporting of them. 🤯

  • wow that actually makes a pretty big deal thx for testing this I know now im just only going to stun overloads with trace rifles
