Ive been seeing a lot of feedback from players saying that Ignition doesnt seem to be working, or that they can't tell when it is. Many people say its simply underwhelming. I did some testing the last couple of days to figure it out. I included a brief video that shows when an Ignition occurs, as well as the enhanced burn damage from accumulating too many stacks.
-Scorch works the same as Slow with Stasis. It stacks up to x100 before triggering an Ignition, similar to how Slow x100 triggers Freeze. in most cases, this Ignition is a death sentence just like Volatile.
-As Scorch Stacks pass a certain threshold (either x75 or x90, further testing required) a small flame appears over the enemy's head and the burn damage will begin to tick as yellow numbers at about 120% strength in PvE, similar to how Thorn's poison damage ticks yellow while Soul Devourer is active. As the description says: Scorch ticks higher the more stacks an enemy has.
-When an Ignition occurs, the target explodes similar to a Fusion grenade, or the old combustion-on-kill effects that Warlock used to have for Attunement of Flame
-Ember of Ashes boosts Scorch buildup by 50%
-As far as we can tell, only 2 weapons can apply Scorch to enemies by themselves: Prometheus Lens and Polaris Lance's Perfect Fifth incendiary round.
-Scorch ticks don't seem to be capable of killing in PvP. They will only reduce you as low as 1HP.
-Ignition deals 120 damage in PvP. This generally means death for anybody who is not in a Super with moderate damage mitigation (which is most roaming Supers, Ward, and Well) but the chances of you actually triggering an Ignition in PvP are low.
-As far as I can see, there's only 3 ways to reliably trigger an Ignition on PvP: Consecration (both slams must hit), Tossing a Solar Grenade into a bubble, or tossing a Solar Grenade onto a Well. Everything else will probably just die from the raw damage before even accumulating enough stacks to Ignite anyway. Ignition in PvP is basically overkill on single targets, but it's deadly if enemies are grouped up.
-Incendiary Grenades can instantly generate 90 stacks of Scorch with Ember of Ashes equipped. This is the fastest Scorch generation of all grenades. Solar Grenades can generate 100 stacks easily, however in PvP most players will die from the grenade itself before even reaching 60 stacks
-Probably the fastest way to trigger an Ignition in PvP is to use Incendiary Grenade with Consecration. Damage-wise, this is overkill on single targets, but has incredible multi-kill potential if enemies are grouped up.
-A Warlock using Touch of Flame, Solar Grenade, and Ember of Ashes can kill a Titan inside of their Ward of Dawn, due to the grenade, lava pools, Scorch, and Ignition damage.
Titans: don't let a Warlock toss the sun into your bubble.

Warlocks: toss the sun into their bubble. Sunbracers will help a lot too.
-Honorable mention: while the lava pools on a Touch of Flame Solar Grenade do not generate stacks, they hurt a lot. 50 damage in PvP per hit means that 4 hits is a kill. If you get a ToF Solar Grenade thrown directly onto you, chances are you're going to die.
If anyone has any questions I will do my best to answer them. This has been a fun experiment to test out.

Bumping this in the hopes that it catches more eyes. I'm hoping that this information might help change some minds about Solar 3.0 being "bad" because personally I think it's GREAT.

1 ReplyBrilliant thanks for this. This is how it should of been explained instead of the repeated 100 stacks and ignition and thats it.
