Already seen this said, but to add.. theres a lot that is very underwhelming. I think i can break all of it down piece by piece.
First and foremost, pheonix dive is completely and utterly useless compared to the rifts. Great idea, but has WAY less utility it feels having it on a class cooldown when rifts can do so much better.
The aspects are downright sad. Touch of flame is fine, but heat rises and icarus dash being the other two? They REALLY needed to be combined. You're essentially just forcing every single dawnblade to fight mid air. AT LEAST COMBINE THEM AND TAKE AWAY A FRAGMENT SLOT.
Benevolent dawn is straight up.... gone? Really? Would have been the easiest thing in the world to make an aspect, but, okay? (Apparently its a fragment now as I've been told, but its literally worse than it was before)
Scorch/ignition seems like a cool idea, but in most content I dont see how useful it'll be seeing as everything dies if you sneeze on it. This one goes for all subclasses, but like.. you guys knew you hit a home run with volatile rounds... you couldnt incorporate scorch in a similar way?
At first i didnt think the well nerf was that big of a deal, but jeez, having seen gameplay I've seen people get absolutely melted in wells now.

1 ReplyAbout what I read here I can mostly agree. For a Warlock that enjoys all classes quite a lot i can say that the top tree dawn implementation is phenominal and hasn't been better before, i feel. But lower dawn? Feels like it was just cut from the game since Bungo thought it didn't mean anything anymore. And what enrages me the most is middle tree. I love having a build to both support teammates, heal them, buff them and still do alot of cc on my own, but all of that is gone now. Well got a lot worse, the empowering melee is down to a 10% buff. 10%!!! And benevolent dawn also get reduced so much that the healing synergy with Lumina and Boots of the Assembler are way to small, to have a significant Payoff and insentive to heal, aswell as the healing grenade. Not only can we not donannormal grenade anymore, it is literal dogwater of a healing pool. Why didnt they do this in the fragment of the grenades to make it at least viable. Im just gonna run void now with Lumina to support my mates. TL;DR: Upper tree dawn feels amazing, down tree dawn is non existent and well is useless when not having competent teams and even then its nit nearly good enough.
-
Only viable play-style for Dawnblade Warlocks in PvP now is a full healing subclass setup or a full airborne one. The fire part of Solar is practically non existent and the changes to airborne and flinch have really contributed to a pitiful 3.0 update.
-
6 RepliesSo I think "Benevolent Dawn" has essentially been replaced by "Radiant" but seeing as that is available to all classes, it's a de facto nerf for Warlocks.
-
1 ReplyYeah tried it for a bit seems void will continue to be the predominate subclass.
-
What about the fact that if I want to have a healing grenade I have to now remove the opportunity to proc ANY damage perk related to grenades. I guess if I want to heal I can't use adrenaline junkie guns to their fullest. Also the synergy just isn't there. Maybe the synergy will come later, once I figure out how new solar works, but I'm so disappointed I don't even want to play. Feels like a pretty big loss
-
Isn’t benevolent dawn a fragment?
-
1 ReplyI haven't even checked warlocks out yet, but they took away the stability buff from Knock 'Em Down for hunters which makes me not want to play Solar 3.0 at all on my hunter anymore. Let alone Warlocks or Titans
-
5 RepliesEdited by DarkMoonWolf666: 5/25/2022 7:50:21 AMScorch doesn't seem to do much while ignite never happens Also massive nerf on dawnchorus
-
Ya if they made Dash only be usable WHILE Heat Risers was proced, it would have to be a triple dash then a 4 sec cooldown. Dive should've probably been the Aspect instead of Dash. They claim Locks are best healers so if you now have the rift and the Dive then ok. But now you have to choose only one AND IT USES AN ABILITY CHARGE. Seems dumb. Make Dive a 5 second cooldown and make it a Passive Perk. Long press.

2 RepliesEdited by Primey, Kell of Kaboom: 5/25/2022 2:08:39 PMI do agree with you on couple points. Heat roses and Icarus dash should’ve been the same thing, as I found really hard to choose Icarus over touch of flame 🥵😍. Yea they may be forcing us to fight in mid air for dawnblade, but isn’t that the point? Angels of death and all? I’m just saying, I’m having a real fun time flinging death balls from above with sunbracers now, with an elemental well build and getting my melee back quickly for rinse and repeat. Finally, yea, disappointed to not see scorch rounds or something on this season’s artifact. Would’ve been op, but very fun to use.

6 RepliesBungie hate warlocks, was always going to happen. They have to cater to their love child hunters. 🙄
-
It just feels like all synergy has gone from the class now. Ruined it completely
-
2 RepliesEdited by Spawn Of Apathy: 5/25/2022 1:01:30 PMMy biggest complaint so far is the distance an enemy needs to be for from you to do the charges melee Snap instead of lunging and slapping an enemy needs tuning. It’s feels as bad or worse than trying to get the stasis charges melee off. Maybe I missed it, is there a non-ranged melee option now? In the past to do charges solar melee challenges and bounties we couldn’t use celestial fire. Do warlocks have a charged melee option that will even count towards bounty/quest/challenge progress now?
-
I agree with the healing grenade it literally just became kind of useless now too because it can't be stationary and now it just tracks, I mean in my opinion healing nades are just bad now because now your foced to using healing and cant switch between damage and healing nade in PVP. Also, the Icarus dash and heat rises were a bad idea to make separate and they don't give us enough benefits for either of them. ALSO, BENEVOLENT DAWN GOT NERFED as it got turned into a FRAGMENT, should just be automatic with well. This is my first time typing one of these comments but just hurts me to see just a grenade change that makes warlock worse to healing effectiveness in PVP. Just warlocks seem a loss to me, honestly, they put more work into titans of course. But this is just my opinion yall can prove me wrong.
-
Yeah, I had really high hopes for Warlock's solar 3.0 and it just feels like they gutted it. Everything that was fun before has been nerfed. They ruined healing nade both by nerfing the effect (requiring an aspect to make it decent but still not as good as pre-3.0) and by eliminating the flexibility to throw a damaging nade. Benevolent Dawn has been replaced by a fragment that has nowhere near the potency and even comes with -10 Discipline- WHY? Heat Rises and Icarus Dash on separate aspects? How did Bungo think this would be a good idea? Void 3.0 at least introduced something new with Child of the Old Gods; the least they could have done was make something similar for Solar. Anything new would have been better than what we got. Phoenix Dive replacing Rift? Seriously? This has been a tremendous let down. :(
-
Solar 3.0 in general blows. I was very excited for this after stasis & void 3.0 were so good.
-
Having practically all the lower tree cut down was terrible. Having 2 aspects geared towards movement, which practically only serve PVP was a bad decision. They could unite these two aspects in just one , and of course include Dive there. This leaves room for a burn/explosion Aspect. The healing grenade should only be used per charge when using the grenade aspect.... That way you wouldn't run out of offensive option when choosing the healing grenade.

7 RepliesNobody is going to mention how the well no longer grants overshield....?
-
11 RepliesEdited by WulfPak666: 5/25/2022 8:02:11 AMSince you need to waste like 3 of the 4 fragments to give the Dawnblade super all the crap it used to have by default can it like not be a tier 1 super anymore? Also, why the heck are 2 of our 3 Aspects focused around mobility? Heat Rises and Icarus Dash should be the same Aspect. What even is this 3.0 rework? New solar Warlock feels worse than the old one.
-
Edited by Vortex: 5/26/2022 2:21:55 PM
AT LEAST COMBINE THEM AND TAKE AWAY A FRAGMENT SLOT.
Don't, we don't want another nerf, keep the slots. I prefer to stay the way it is if they will remove a slot, hunters can reach 5 and titans 4, why 3 for us?
-
Agreed, when this came out I was hoping to see at least a change to the melee, like come on, it’s the exact same!! Like void 3.0, you now shoot out a some void ball from your melee, and titans well, you throw shield. But this solar… it all feels the exact same if not worse. A nerf too with us, is just bad. And having Icarus dashes as an aspect. I don’t know how I feel with that.
-
2 RepliesSolar chain reactions are gone, that honestly makes me sad. Scorch takes forever to ignite targets. In pvp, its actually impossible to reach 100 stacks of scorch so enemies will never ignite. What a spit in the face, all this BS hype and they actually made warlocks worse. Don’t even get me started on the phoenix dive and its ridiculous cooldown.
-
11 RepliesI disagree…. I’ve got 2 builds so far that are insane: sunbracers with snap where u proc sunbracers and can stack ignite, does amazing dps. use fragments for ignite and melee/grenade regen and use aspect that makes solar grenades better claws of ahamkara and snap, doing it in air with Phoenix dive instantly regens powered melee, making snap melee effectively infinite. Use this to proc ignite also. Explain to me how these builds are disappointing? And keep in mind we still have to experiment with last column perks in seasonal artifact that make ignite and grenades even stronger

7 RepliesTop tree and middle tree dawn have been the best pvp and pve subclass nodes across the whole game since they were introduced if you thought they where gunna get better your crazy personaly I wish they leaned Into well more instead of top tree dawn but either way this is them reigning the class in Thb with the tools they have they will likely still be the top performing pvp class your still the fastest class with the best healing options in the game your newexotic will make icarus dodge give you reload and potential for bonus damage with a veeeeeeeeery nice cooldown makes the hunter dodge look downright weak across all there subclasses And as for pve well will still be well it's always gunna needed or wanted in high end content and damage phases it just won't be easy mode anymore I mean it makes you invincible and boost your damage it trivializes almost all content in the game The subclass still feels effective just not better than everything else in the game it's prob still top 3 if not still number 1 but I feel for you man It sucks losing content especially when it makes the game feel worse for you sorry my dude

Scorch/Ignition is actually very powerful if you build into it. I threw together a Sunbracers Burn build and it's stupidly fun to just float in the air dropping suns on enemies. If I get low on HP I just Phoenix Dive and go back to floating. The amount of burns I'm dishing out can get me a dive back in like 10 seconds. Also we are still missing the 2 most powerful Embers. One will make Ignitions spread Scorch , the other makes Precision Kills while Radiant Ignite enemies. Both will be very powerful. Don't lose faith. It's only the first day. Take some time to test stuff out! On the other end, maybe they'll make some adjustments to things later on. I personally like the feel so far.

I'm really not impressed with it across the board. Also on hunter it feels like somethings just don't work. Void 3.0 was -blam!- hot, solar 3.0 is better than solar 2.no but it isn't anything to write home about. Like scorch doesn't really feel like it does much, okay you stack enough and something catches fire? Maybe? Not that I've ever noticed. It would be one thing if there was a fragment that applied scorch to solar rounds fired so that as you fire you apply more and mores scorch... Meh. void 3.0 I was in love the first time I played. Solar 3.0 is... meh.
