Does bungie care to address the abysmal load times for equipment, shaders, and everything else? You cant say that it's a server issue since bungie said, "our servers adequately meet the needs of our gaming community."
And it's not just during activities, its -blam!- slow at the tower and orbit...and it's not the PS hdd as destiny is almost the smallest that it's ever been. 74.79GB. Also, it could be a huge security risk storing equipment on external devices rather than bungie.
Once again, the Nine ask, do you dare to answer? All we want is clarity and know that this issue is important to you as well.

Edited by Lord Magris: 5/12/2022 9:19:01 AMThe issue is likely tied to the reason everything else has seemed so glitchy lately. And lots of players are thinking it's an old gen thing, but I doubt it. They're supposed to be cycling content out to mitigate limitations, but things aren't getting any faster and I still see UI loading glitches. I was just in an Iron Banner match and the Zone B icon disappeared for me for the whole match. If it is an old gen thing somehow, then I just want Bungie to say when old gen is getting discontinued support. I am on old gen Xbox One, but it's just becoming too much. I'll update if I have to. Otherwise I'm saving money.

Edited by Accola: 5/13/2022 11:29:19 PM"the PS HDD" That's why the load times are high. HDDs can only load content so fast, it's quite literally a hardware issue. Well CPU as well. Noticed a massive difference in menu load time when I switched destiny from my HDD to my NVME, noticed another massive difference in load time when I went from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 5 5600x.

Load times becoming an issue? I guess bungie is about to sunset some content! lol.
-
There’s a Forbes article about how bad it is. Also the enemy teleport problem.
-
The only thing I find slow is tower load in, and selecting weapons. Slow down and teleporting enemies sometimes. I'm on base ps4 lol 😆 Menus are slow 🐌 I agree
-
I’m sure Bungie is intentionally doing their best to keep slow load times. Lmfao.
-
After upgrading from Xbox one to new series s it was honestly the first big difference I noticed. Menus load waaaaay faster.
-
I'm on PS4 Pro with an external (faster) SSD, and it's faster load in times but still terrible load times for the menus. It's been a thing again since the 30th Anniversary dropped. Before that they had fixed it. So it's either poor coding or another system resource squeeze

1 ReplyEdited by SirHeadPoppington: 5/12/2022 11:26:05 AMDoes Bungie care? Is Bungie aware? For how long must we despair? These load times are so unfair

1 ReplySSD. Its 100% SSD. If you don’t have a SSD get one. Saves years. Amazon.com/SSD

4 RepliesPut your game on a SSD. I'm not having issues at all.

4 RepliesThe load time is a problem on your end. I'm betting that you're using an old PS4...and the fact that they've trimmed down the size of the game is part of the reason that machine is still able to run the game. People complain about the DCV and Bungie "Removing content from the game". You're seeing WHY they've done this. The game would eventually stop running on your machine if they hadn't done this.

1 ReplyOthers brought it up but what system are you playing on, Op? My pc loads within a minute so i dont really understand, but I do remember my old xbox one taking forever to load due to hardware limitations.

15 RepliesMy last few times going to the tower it has taken 5-10 minutes.

18 RepliesEdited by MattTheBelieber: 5/11/2022 9:27:16 PMThere is a reason for this. Yes. The game is small compared to other games. But it is too big for the engine that they use. When Bungie and Activision signed the contract, Activision stated Bungie MUST use their own engine and never use a different companies engine (like Unreal)[Google and look hard for the real contract. It's there]. Activision did this cause use of another engine usually costs 12%-30% of overall sales and Activision was too greedy for such a thing. Panicked with 2014 being so close. Bungie pulled out there 2004 Halo engine. Seriously. Having read real ex employees reviews, one of the biggest complaints, beside favoritism and unfair treatment, is the tools and engine are notthing like they seen in the industry. It is so old and useless. One employee described it like this: "If I want to just move a pillar 2 metres, I have to leave the map loading overnight when I go home and pray to God it is not frozen once again when I come to work in the morning". That is why they vaulted Gambit and so many Crucible maps. Disagree? Explain to me why they had to vault PVP maps? Cause their engine couldnt handle it. Of course they lied saying "it was so the game doesn't get too big". But Red Dead Redemption, Warzone, so many games are TWICE the size. There is no reason to slim down a game that is 80gb other than the engine and tools can't handle working with the game and everything in it. That's why the menus are so slow. The menus used to be snappy and now they can't even load as the game is bigger than it used to be (though nothing compared to other games). People saying it is your hardware are hilarious. A) It is the exact same slow loading times on Series X and PS5 B) Why does every other game on your hardware load fast? GTA isn't slow loading menus. Fortnite. Warzone. Etc are fine.

1 ReplyDoesn't make them money, doesn't affect them monetarily, isn't something that benefits the playerbase/community So no, they won't
-
1 ReplyYou think these load times are slow? I’m still opening a heavy ammo synth on 360 Since 2017! 😄
-
1 ReplyI'm on PC and load times are pretty fast, but I only have Samsung SSD's for storage in my PC. Loading into the tower takes ~30 seconds, max, loading into activities takes around the same amount of time and menu load times are pretty much instant. If you're on last-gen console, then that's probably a big contributing factor to your long load times.
-
That's not the game, that's a hardware problem. Good gaming PCs and next gen consoles have pretty fast load times.
-
Bungie likely does care, but they can’t magically make your hardware better. From what I can tell decent PCs and current gen consoles have pretty fast load times.
-
You must be on previous gen where load times are slow. On current gen and PC load times are in the half second ranges for most things in the inventory
-
2 RepliesAlso, file size doesn't dictate speed, unless you're talking about the actual download, which you're not. Replacing an HDD with an SSD will improve performance in computers and consoles alike. Buying a new console will also achieve this.
-
3 RepliesPs5 here, no issues at all. Was pleasantly surprised how quickly things load.
-
Edited by LiftAnEye: 5/11/2022 7:02:41 PMI don't miss my Ps4 Ps5
-
The load times have gone up. Only new consoles keep up with it but these are slow AF. Also, bungie vaulted stuff to make the game fast but that was probably sales pitch for resale.
-
1 ReplyMaybe get a ps5 instead of the trash original ps4.
