So Many Perks are Still Dissappointing

Just looked at the new smg on light.gg. I don't see a single roll that seemed interesting or exciting that you can't get on other weapons. More importantly, looking at the rolls really opened my eyes again at just how... [i]bad[/i] most of the perks are in this game. Most of them give a bonus so minor that you can't even feel. There are just way too many "trash perks" in the game right now that warrant an auto-delete when seen. I believe in a perfect sandbox, every perk would have a noticeable weight. The difference between a "god roll" and a "bad roll" would become hard to tell, but also feel very different. That feels like the opposite of what it is now, in my opinion. It's easy to tell what perks and perk combinations are good and what ones are bad, yet in the heat of the moment, you can easily forget what perks your gun has. I've literally had several instances that I've had to navigate through the slow menus to check my gun because I had forgotten what perks it had because I couldn't tell just by using it.

  • I was doing the chests on "The Last Wish Raid" and got the scout with Kill clip and Rampage. I forgot that was even a thing. 🤣

      • Yeah I was dissapointed in the perk choices for the title as well. With an origin trait like "classy contender" which has so much potential synnergy with other perks I was really hoping it could roll with demolotionist or wellspring (or even both, like ogma!) to double down on the ability-regen idea. Swing and a miss on the random perk selection IMO- but I will say I REALLY like the direction they went with the origin trait- it just needs better perks to go with it to bring out its true potential.

        I don’t think that it’s the perks that are disappointing in terms of their viability, most perks fulfill a niche well and get used. It’s just that many standard guns come with very standard rolls that are just extremely replaceable. When most guns in the game have basically the same god rolls it’s just boring. Most guns boil down to reload + damage perk and that’s it. The guns I get most excited for are when good utility perks or a damage perk are put in the left slot (demolitionist, wellspring, unrelenting, explosive payload, etc.) They break the monotony of reload + damage and are cornerstone weapons in most players’ builds.

        Even though im not a fan of Compulsive Reloader, i found an absolute gem of a fusion rifle, i think i wanna do a build revolving around it later on. Got myself a Snorri, Compulsive Reloader + Reservoir Burst + Omolon Fuild Dynamics with a Charge Time MW. Its actually pretty fun in PvE. I think perk combinations and synergy should be prevalent on weapons, its always nice to see a perk you usually go 'meh' to... And then see it combine with another and go 'oh, wait hold up'.

      • Stats4All/Perpetual and One For All make it a solid choice for Void subclasses. Especially since kills regen class ability. Combined with a volatile rounds and devour build, it sounds actually quite nice. I definitely prefer the utility over something like Funnelweb that's just more DPS based. Have they fixed the drop yet? I'm not trying till they at least try to confirm its fixed.

        • If it had wellspring, it would’ve been really cool. The perk choices just seem pretty tame, and the gun feels pretty meh on console compared to some of the other Agg frames.

        • Try stats for all + one for all, it is a beast combo on seasonal auto rifle and it will be even better on smg, because they are just better in general

          • I was really disappointed there wasn't demolitionist or wellspring, that would have been sweet for builds with the origin trait.

          • I don't mind all the different perks if we had more in each tree to choose from. There should be a minimal of three in each column to pick from.

          • Really? I think its a solid choice for pvp. Easier to get a God roll too since the only other 750 rpms have been removed from world drops and Borrowed time has a herendous amount of perks.

            Stats for all is going to really help this SMG, and your pick of focused fury and one for all will probably feel pretty good. Perpetual motion can be your PvP "win now" perk, and I can see its stability bump and reload helping out a good bit. Will it feel better than any funnel web you already have? Honestly probably not, but that's just how 750s have been historically.
