This doesnt make sense. Hand cannons out flinch, out damage scout rifles all the time in crucible. Fix?
-
2 RepliesNo? Play outside of ~35 meter ranges and you will own every handcannon player if you can aim. Stop using long range scout rifles in close range and expect to win. If your playstyle is not sitting back at long ranges, scouts are not for you. We aren't complaining that snipers are stronger than shotguns at 50 meters next, are we?
-
Short answer. Those would be "Bungie Ballistics".
-
Also if you want to outgun a hand cannon stop using skyburners and jade rabbit
-
Scouts suck but they are fine the way they are
-
2 RepliesIf hand cannons were meta in PvE, they would get nerfed.. they are here to stay
-
2 RepliesThe real problem with this is that just about everyone is using handcannons and it's even worse when adaptive frames being the most forgiving of handcannon types. Because of their high aim assist and high flinch resistance, a HC would still get three headshots on someone using an AR or PR even under heavy flinch while these two under the same amount of flinch would not. This has resulted less variety among the primary weapon types. In a game that was suppose to be more toward the casual side, the HC/SG meta negatively affected pvp that no matter how many nerfs have been applied have not been enough to deter players from using them season by season, which results every season getting sweatier and sweatier. I don't know how large the upcoming changes will affect the game, but I hope it will be enough to make a significant difference.
-
They are too forgiving. They have way too many benefits and no real negatives that matter.
-
It’s due to the small maps. Most maps tend to work well with Handcannon range.
-
The main problem is that the maps are small and cramped with a few exceptions. Widows court is an ok one for scouts and the vaulted nine map had lots of big open spaces and scouts really shined there.
-
Maps are just too small in d2 for scouts to really shine.. especially after they gave them hella flinch. In D1 scouts were amazing lol

5 RepliesEdited by eternal_napalm: 5/3/2022 11:02:49 AMIt's to appease the Influencers. Without an OP Hunter hand cannon and shotty meta, the Influencers get steaming mad. Hunter Shotty Hand Cannon In that specific order.
-
16 RepliesHand cannon damage ttk needs to greatly increase in pvp.
-
They're not... You're clearly still within range
-
Uhhh what do you consider at range? If you are on an actually long range map(of which there are few) hand cannons cant duel you at proper engagement range. Also, if you mean damage, the slowest firing scouts are 150 rpm(except dmt at 120), meanwhile hand cannons ate 140 and 120(except Sunshot at 150, and 180s suck anyway).

2 RepliesI was just reading the replies, it’s fantastic that the forum attracts so many intelligent well thought out responses….. from idiots. “Get Good” - that must have taken a lot of thought “Never post after losing” is a regular comment on here The reason PVP in Destiny is acknowledged in the game industry as the worst multiplayer ever is because Bungie put no effort into making it work. They don’t balance weapons or abilities, they invest no time in the maps, They drop everything into the mix and let people loose. They have promised for years to the groundwork and sort PVP but won’t invest the time or don’t have the expertise to make a good PVP. If you look at the best multiplayer combat games - the development is normally handled by a specialist PVP outfit - Bungie won’t do that plus the game engine that powers Destiny is years old and desperate for a refresh so can’t really be developed to support a top notch PVP. If you want to play a decent PVP then you have to go elsewhere

11 RepliesRemember kids, don't post after losing in crucible
-
How come SMG's may have better range than let say a Auto rifle or even a Scout?
-
I played a bunch of Rumble yesterday and on Widow's Court somebody was destroying everyone else with MIDA Multi-Tool. I was using Ace of Spades and he outgunned me pretty much every time I engaged him at those longer ranges. It's not that Scout Rifles lose in their dominant range to Hand Cannons, it's that most maps don't have enough space for them to be effective.
-
scouts havent been good since destiny 2 Vanilla.. the OG best version of destiny ever...
-
Good question
-
2 RepliesThey absolutely are not. You’re just misjudging “range” bc most encounters are mid range at best. The maps are small
-
They aren't stronger at range. You just can't bring a Jade Rabbit onto a map like Jav 4 and engage hand cannons at 25-30 meters and expect to be successful. Adhere to your weapon's optimal engagement space.
-
Because you’re using the scout rifle at mid range
-
6 RepliesEdited by Jet2Holiday: 5/2/2022 7:35:13 PMHCs do not outrange Scouts. Like, not even close... The maps are small and Scouts are sluggish AF. They need a Handling buff overall.
-
Because most maps are CQC maps. Go into a private match with a friend on eternity and have him try to duel you with a HC on the other side of the long lane, see who wins.

7 RepliesPeople will say map design but that's the people who use 140s are refuse to acknowledge that they have all the advantages with no draw backs like other weapons. Sure larger maps would help but because Bungie aren't going to create larger maps with enough volume to make a difference they needs to address 140s range. 140s should not hit as hard as they do at their max ranges. Palindrome, ace of spades, Hawkmoon, fate bringer, eyas luna, for example, all hit like trucks from max range with their flinch, they peek shoot and have the best in air accuracy with zero drawbacks. Something has to change. They should be no better than autos or pulse rifles but they are. Autos can't peek shoot. They have bad in air accuracy. Don't flinch as hard. Pulses have bad in air accuracy, don't flinch as hard. 140s have it all with no drawbacks. They should be on even footing with autos and pulses at best. Not a better choice in every way. 140 defenders will say anyone can do just as well with a pulse or auto but there's a reason people flock to 140s and it's not because "they're just cool" it's because they are consistently the best choice for mid range because of all their advantages with less / no drawbacks.
