I'm legitimately scared to use Shadowshot in PvP

I don't know how, but Void 3.0 has made Shadowshot even more inconsistent. So inconsistent in fact that I am straight up scared to use the super at all. There are so many things that have passed QA such as: - Two of the three arrows are needed to kill a Guardian - Mobius Quiver not tracking and flying past guardians less than 9 meters away - The time it takes to knock the next mobius quiver volley is longer than most TTKs - People able to use supers while marked and tethered. - Deadfall arrow not damaging on direct hit - The arrows of the mobius quiver colliding with each other in mid-air. - When one of the three mobius quiver tethers is deployed it will block and deploy the other two remaining arrows from the initial volley as well as the additional three from the second volley without damaging a guardian leaving them with a sliver of health. - Super Armor so low or straight up missing that you are killed either immediately after shooting Deadfall or in the middle of knocking your next mobius shot. It may just be me but I feel like Shadowshot is now even worse and It breaks my heart because I love the concept of a void bow, but currently, in practice, it feels awful to play and look at a full super bar and go "I can maybe win a 1v1 with this thing... hopefully."

          • As a panic super it’s is still extremely reliable in shutting down any roaming super that isn’t super mobile (dawnblade can be tricky). Sure fix all these bugs but if you panic tether the trade off should be you have no super armor, it’s not a roaming super you should die by any source that does 200+ normal damage aka a hammer, another tether, a single hit from a dawnblade, a single swing from spectral or arc staff, a melee hit from a striker, it goes on.. You guys don’t deserve any super armor that lingers with especially moebius (??) quiver that resets super armor per shadowshot volley

            • I agree I used to be very consistent with deadfall OHK even kill other supers before but now it will hit next to the foot of the target and not even direct hit anymore. Adapted to more trap style but still devo I can’t be as aggressive

The dynamic between neutral game and super game is a balancing act; if one is really strong, the other has to be inconsistent and/or hard to master to compensate. Nightstalkers have some of the strongest neutral game, so the supers have to compensate by being a bit awkward to use. Spectral Blades is definitely the exception of the three available to Nightstalkers but the 10 minute cooldown keeps it balanced imo if it were any less the Crucible would crash and burn even more than it does now

The super is fantastic idk what fear you have going on. Sure 2 out of 3 needs to hit their targets but the arrows literally have tracking. Its a free kill bruh and anyone that was nearby gets tethered, my suggestion for using the super is to always have a dodge available in case everyone starts shooting at you before the tether activates. That way by the time the dodge animation ends, the enemy will get tethered and their reticle will jump to another server. That will allow you to get an easy team wipe, the only time you wont really need a dodge is if you have allies nearby. As for the collision issue, its a bug bruh. Thats something bungie has to fix, the scatter grenades with warlocks does the same thing and bungie claimed to have fixed it.

Shadowshot has always been Hunter's weakest PvP Super because of exactly the things you mentioned. Void 3.0 kinda improved it, since Mobius actually gives you some form of tracking now (though not as good tracking as a Sentinel Super shield throw it feels like, always getting backstabbed by those even after evading the initial throw). But the problem with Mobius Tracking is the same problem that Tracking Rocket Launchers had: Horrible connection and latency. While you may have hit the target on your screen, the game decided that the enemy wasn't there and you do little to no damage. Additionally, because Mobius requires a direct hit to get a kill and has a travel time (unlike Golden Gun), it's going to be much more inconsistent. Sure, you can tether the enemy and maybe suppress them, but it really doesn't take much to break out of that tether and like you mentioned, Hunters are at their most vulnerable while firing Mobius because they are immobile with no resistance between shots, making them very easy to pick off. Deadfall has always been a meme Super in PvP. Yeah, it has a large suppression area and is good for locking areas down, but it lacks the very thing that make Supers so strong: Kill potential. You have to hit a target dead on with Deadfall to get a kill with it. Take all the Mobius Quiver drawbacks and add slow activation time and how laughably easy it is to destroy a Deadfall tether (it's harder to break a Titan Barricade than a Deadfall tether) and you're just setting yourself up for failure. In fact, I'd argue that Void 3.0 effectively neutered Deadfall in PvP because all of the benefits the subclass provided (Evade invis) can now be accessed regardless of which Super you're running. There is literally no reason to run Deadfall. Some might argue that it's great for shutting down Supers (and to be fair, it can be fun to meme in Mayhem by roleplaying the Fun Police and just shutting the enemy team down) but here's the rub: By using Deadfall to shut down a Super, you are effectively trading Supers. And yours has almost no kill potential. If you're going to trade Supers, why not use a Super that doesn't just end when you fire it? Pop that enemy Super with a Golden Gun, use mid tree Arcstrider and Omnomnom all the Nova Bombs, flash freeze them with a Frosty Tornado that actually lingers after cast. Don't just fire a purple dot and call it a day. If you're gonna run Void in Crucible, use Spectrals. Much more reliable while giving both True Sight and invis, but remember to use Heavy attacks on Overshielded targets, since they can survive a light attack.

                    • Big bump to you. Good post. This is probably the most frustrating thing about using void 3.0. We’ve been complaining about how inconsistent tether is and not doing instant tether and damage and I think they did fix it a bit right before void 3.0 but now it’s right back to being very risky super in pvp for the reasons you stated

                    • Shadow shot is -blam!- in pvp. You put in on the ground and it still takes time to tether. And the tether is shaky at best. Seen ice titan and derpy void blade hunters skate right through it. Best way to use it, is call your psychic advisor, ask them where there bad guys will be, and when, and fire it 5 seconds before you need it.

Wished there was at the very least an aspect(or fragment? Whichever the smaller one is) that said casting your void super gave a small over shield. On top of that all tethers should slowly suck health away from those tethered at the very least. the fact this isn’t a thing but Warlocks got it blows my mind.

                    • I disagree with a lot of what you said. Also, the thing about armor being low is a lie. You can tank a nova warp explosion if you’re in the shadowshot animation, and the nova warp will never get a second shot off. Yet bungie somehow has a mediocre super like nova warp, with an insanely long cool down. For the record, I have used my hunter a good amount since witch queen.

                    • Bungie leaned in to the AoE weaken and suppression design of tether. Deadfall still kinda sucks but mobius quiver is exactly what they designed it to be, a blanket of suppressing and weakening tethers.

Give up on tether for PvP. It quite literally has never been good in PvP, ever. It came into this franchise as a trash PvP super and it’ll leave this franchise as a garbage PvP super, dammit.

                        • I only use quiver in trials as far as PvP goes because if I play particularly well I can get it before the enemy have supers (accept bubble). Otherwise I'm all about spectral for 6v6 I've just always liked it since forsaken although I really do wish they'd work on the hit detection

                          • Its definitely not just you. Every single thing you listed happens to me too to the point where I really don't use it if I'm trying to win. You just never really know what its going to do. Most supers have something that you can be confident you can use them for but its really hard to say that about shadowshot.
