Ran prob 15 or so games of wellspring yesterday trying to get 3 deep sight fel taradiddle and pretty sure out of the 90 people in there I saw 1 exotic pattern drop. Bungie seems to think those glaives are hot stuff considering drop rate despite me never seeing anyone use one of them and apparently friend felt same because when I used the Titans glaive he didn’t even know what it was despite playing consistently since witch queen launch. Drop rate for barely used exotics shouldn’t be so low when exclusively dropped from specific content. Needs to have drop rate roughly equal to 1/3 of the deepsight weapons ie you get exotic pattern around same time you would get the relevant legendary pattern. This would likely in practice still take longer than the legendary bases on probability.

Idk how many runs you have tried to do. But the drop rates are just fine. It might take a little bit or it might be instant. That's part of rng. If you are expecting to get 2 of 2 on one of the patterns instantly then I am sorry. Just keep at it & you will get it.

IMO The reason the RNG is set so low for a purpose. That purpose being to pad their player numbers to show their investors that they still have a large player base. What they don't show their investors is that all of these players are just running in circles. Bungie inflicts the FOMO idea so that most of its players will continue to play so that Bungie can show its investors and so ad infinitum. What needs to happen is a complete strike of ALL players from the game for a period of 30 days. Unfortunately this won't work as there are to many Bungie loyalists out there. The story is great but that is all that is worth ATM. The potential is there, but Bungie cares more for their pocketbook than its player base.

Problem is not only dropping weapon patterns, but also the pattern which the Player wants. Dropping weapon pattern with RNG just make things worse.

That's why I hardly even bother trying to get them. I don't need that kind of job. A mind numbing chore on a processing line. No wonder the player pool is getting lower. It's meant to be enjoy able. Didn't even know about it until friend asking about how to get the other patterns. When they first completed quest no information given at the end of quest or on other characters how to get pattern. How poorly designed is that. What are we mind readers. Had to go to YouTube. Should not have go to third party's. Then you find out it has a poor drop rate. From the YouTube posts. Hello......Bungie..." That is a good reason why people give up.

I might be in the minority here, but, I actually quite enjoy Wellspring. I dipped in and out depending on the weapon available, and, without going crazy, managed to get all weapon patterns done. I also run the War Table missions, which enables me to get my choice of those red-border weapons, once I’ve unlocked the appropriate perk. So, was able to unlock most of those weapons and get crafting… The only weapon patterns I don’t have - from WellSpring runs, are the other two exotic glaives (H / T); and I’m not chasing those, so, nay bother! So, both of the a/m activities are very similar: one is a MM 3-man activity, and t’other is a MM 6-man activity; each with a predictable pathway, each with a reasonable rewarding outcome. At least, that’s how it was for me! But, I don’t play ‘crazily’ by doing 50+ straight runs and get burned, and burnout. 👈 Just like I don’t bother doing any activity that has no appeal, eg, the Raid’s rigged, roulette (hamster) wheel.
