Cross Save Characters and Reverting original account to free account or removal of account
Hi,
I started playing Destiny on my PS4. I built a gaming PC and configured Cross Save so I can access the same characters on the PC. I exclusively play now on the PC.
My question is, what would happen to my characters if I drop the Playstation Network yearly fee and just move it to a free account with Playstation? What would happen if I deleted the playstation account all together? Would they still be associated with my Bungie account and accessible via PC?

Edited by ADragonWithin: 4/18/2022 3:14:58 PMYou do not have to continue to pay Playstation Plus, as it has no effect when playing on Steam or the Microsoft Store platforms. PS+ is only used when playing on the Playstation. [b][u]Do not delete your Playstation account[/u][/b] or forget the login credentials, as you must be able to authenticate to it in order to make changes to Cross-Save or to make changes to your Clan, since your Playstation save data is your active save data. If you delete your Playstation account, you will be unable to authenticate to it, and will be unable to make any changes in the future should you wish to.

I would highly encourage you to [u][b]not[/b][/u] delete the PSN account as this could lead to the issue where the Cross Save system prevents you from unlinking any other platform accounts because all accounts need to be authenticated in order to deactivate Cross Save (deleted accounts cannot be authenticated). Cross Save works to [i]access[/i] existing Destiny 2 progress/characters to other platforms, this action is not permanent. The PSN account [b]must[/b] be linked and still exist in order for you keep using Cross Save so you can use these characters on PC/Steam. As for PlayStation's yearly fee, I don't believe it has an affect on Cross Save whether you have it or not. Edit: Remove incorrect information.
