I'm expecting so much flack from this but serious, all you pvp try hards, since you are the only ones saying it bad, tell me why its bad.
And I don't want to hear anything about "!!!Oh GeT GoOd NoOb!!!" Try to actually give a -blam!- reason.

It’s not, you’ll hear “but connections “ and all that “ matching people across, yada yada “ it’s bologna. All I know is the content creators in call of duty that cried about sbmm on YouTube, they literally can’t get views now

1 ReplyThere needs to be more SBMM to sort out lobby balancing as stated by dmg04 (community manager) without any it is driving the average player away, which is the majority of the playerbase if you like it or not and it doesn’t protect any low skill players. Control should have some SBMM and keep Iron Banner and Rumble without, the most accessible playlist should benefit the average player the most for overall game health, even if they’re vocal about it or not. For high skill SBMM Control queues, should have a time out that distributes them into lower skill brackets if matchmatching does conclude within an allocated time.

4 RepliesEdited by FluffyBunnyFeet: 4/14/2022 4:06:26 PMBecause those with higher skill levels would actually have to try against people of similar skill rather than being able to mindlessly farm players beneath them. Everything else is just fluffed excuses to cover this fact imo. Sweat already infests "quickplay". Just not by those with a high skill level, only those trying to keep their head above water against them. Totally fair. I'm not saying SBMM is the be all, end all answer in any regard. I am saying that matchmaking in its current form is a complete joke, and SOMETHING needs to be rectified in this regard.

2 RepliesEdited by Justlce Ieague: 4/14/2022 7:30:20 AMTon of bad things -Turns what are intended to be causal game modes upside down -Is a type of mm intended for ranked play, comp is already sbmm - 6vs6 is where you go to find the opposite of that. -Adds lag to higher and lower tier lobbies outside the middle average -Adds extended mm timer to higher and lower tier lobbies -Completely removes all incentive to improve and encourages stagnation or worse smurfing/tanking stats What are the benefits of sbmm? To give bottom tier players a safe space from good ones? So ineptitude should be pandered towards? I don't get it....in my day if you were bad an were unhappy with your performance you worked on your skills, you didn't blame who you matched and expected the game to hold your hand and guarantee you don't match anyone good... Tl;dr: there's a reason sbmm fails for any game that tries it and has its population tank. There's a reason it was removed 3 times for d2 and there's a reason every pro-sbmm post is downvoted into oblivion.

2 RepliesSBMM is Terrible for Casual Modes. As a High Ranking Player, I want to have Modes that I can Casually Play, and modes that I can sweat in. I DON'T want to Sweat in every Mode. CBMM makes up a Majority of the Modes, which are Causal Modes.(Control) SBMM makes up the Minority of Modes.(Survival) You can't just Thrush players into SWEATY matches in Every Mode. Just awhile ago Players from both Fortnite & COD want Casual Modes, and SBMM Removed. They bring out a good point also. In Fortnite there's 1vAll/2v2/3v3/4v4, then there's the Ranked Set, that leads into Cash Cups. Players want SBMM Removed in the Regular playlist set. The Regular set offers Zero Avenue to Cash Cups. Same thing for Survival. Survival is the Front Door of Trials. Control is not. I could keep going, but that's my Take, and my Reason. Aka, SBMM has a Place, just not Everywhere.

2 RepliesEdited by BANZAI GEXX: 4/14/2022 3:41:21 PMGet rid of KD tracking in quick play. Problem solved or… Make a ranked playlist. You play against your equals. This way people can show off their skill with special ranked emblems. As of now players are just stacking to inflate their fake KD’s in quick play.

40 RepliesBad connections Bad connections Long queue Bad connections It doesn’t actually help the fodder to improve … terrible play goes unpunished so they don’t learn what they are doing wrong then they go into trials and get absolutely destroyed Terrible connections Iits something only the very worst players want and the barely play…

Extreme, constant, desync way beyond anything you see now... Even in crossplay lobbies. That's the main issue. High skill players do have a point about QP being sweaty all the time though. You shouldn't minimize that since it's just as valid of a complaint as people constantly getting stomped right now. Bungie need to find a way to balance both issues.

When there’s a variety of skill levels on the enemy team, there’s no one on my team that’s having a modifiable experience. It also helps pvp to be less boring and repetitive. Imo, freelance IB should have SBMM and normal should be CBMM.

3 Repliesbad connection, and tryhard every single lobby , imagine asking sbmm in casual modes, that's why last 3 cods are dead
-
Couple things 1) Destiny is not a competitive game. Why do you keep trying to pretend it is. 2) Destiny uses peer to peer, which is a hilariously outdated connection system. 3) Lobby balancing is already done heavily, which already sorts teams by skill. 4) Load times are already long and the population is already dwindling 5) Even if Destiny was a competitive game, it doesn't have a real ranking system. Glory is the closest thing but how is something a real ranking system when it gets boosted every few weeks by the dev. Glory is just another exp based progression system that has some weighting on w/l.

Simple, casuals will likely not play as much, they will go in for pinnacles and call it a day. It leaves the sweats having to deal with sbmm. Majority of these posts are “ I’m a casual” so be a casual and play your 3 matches for the week and gtfo.

6 RepliesEdited by Ghostfire239: 4/14/2022 11:47:30 AMThe way I see it, Quickplay isn’t supposed to be a competitive mode, so why should it have SBMM? We’ve already done this before a few times in Destiny’s lifespan and it got reverted back to CBMM for a reason. I understand why some players may want SBMM in Quickplay but I’m just not interested other players having longer queue times, more lag in their matches, and facing constant sweat as they improve to the point where you can’t even play Quickplay. I’m not the best PvP player (I’m not bad, but I’m no frostbolt) so SBMM wouldn’t affect me in a catastrophic way but it was definitely giving me an incentive to not try to get better in PvP. I personally think that SBMM belong in modes that are meant to be about skill and Quickplay doesn’t really fit that. Things like Trials and IB should have SBMM.
-
The only issue I have with it is lag - but crucible is a laggy mess already. So who cares Players say I don’t want to sweat every match - but they don’t really change their play style or loadout when they go up against worse players. They just walk away with a better kd I’m all for sbmm at this point

25 RepliesWorse connections, longer queue times, discourages personal improvement.

In this game SBMM won't make a difference, just play Elim or Comp and you'll see for yourself. I hate pvp so I don't take it remotely serious and even with a 1 k/d I'm facing way better players with way higher k/d in Elim. I know there are other players my caliber out there so what's the deal with match making and lobby balancing. That's what needs to be fixed; in team scorched I'm paired with people less than 1.5 k/d; where is the balance with the 2+ players? All the bad players on one team and all the good players on another? Something's wrong with that but Bungaroo doesn't care at all otherwise there wouldn't be any buzz. Aside from the sweats don't want to play sweats; they want easy claps, high elo, high k/d that's why there isn't true SBMM.
-
if i want to play with my bad friends they will be put against better players, do horrible, force me to never have a chill game, and still we would probably lose thats how it works in comp if you want sbmm go play the competetive mode maybe?

Edited by ZyloWolfBane: 4/14/2022 9:17:22 AMThe problem isn't that SBMM is bad, it's that we need dedicated servers before they actually give it to us. Otherwise it doesn't really mean much. Realistically they just need to stop matching full stacks against randos, period. There should never be an algorithm that can't handle letting the 6 random players wait a few extra seconds to not be paired against a stack, the stack should wait longer. Or make freelance permanent, across all modes. The playerbase is already split, the playlists aren't unified in the first place. Or chop it all down to freelance PvP (All modes in one playlist) and one for groups. Done.
-
Matchmaking in general with destiny will be trash because of the peer to peer connection BS. All they need to do is add a bracket system in game and get dedicated servers. The amount of times I play a PS kid ice skating is ridiculous. They should’ve addressed this before cross play tbh. They are with Sony now they have the money to fix -blam!- they’re just lazy asf and guided by garbage like dmg.

8 RepliesMakes every game a sweat fest. I don’t want to stomp on bad players. But I don’t want to try hard every game either . I’m hoping for a balance where sometimes I get good players sometimes I don’t . Connection based is better in that sense

3 RepliesThere is actually multiple reasons as to why it's bad for not just the "good players" but to also those who are bad or inexperienced. You have to sweat every game and use meta non stop, meaning even if your bad and you want to try something new it will actually be a bad idea because you'll loose and get stomped and have no fun using new builds and weapons. That goes same to the "good players" Sbmm usually makes every lobby even worse and laggy, like you thought the connections are bad rn well sorry to break it to you sbmm will make these connections look like the best. Now this is mainly my own opinion, but I don't think sbmm actually helps you improve in pvp if that's what your chasing for. I started playing pvp heavily while cbmm was involved and that's how I improved to the point some people will say I'm "a good player". Now after I've listed two points and my own opinion on sbmm within game, I do want to say yes.... Yes matchmaking needs to change and be improved but just having it sbmm or cbmm isn't it. They both have pros and cons. So we need to actually find a middle ground within sbmm and cbmm.
