Crashing on launch, sometimes not even launching
Just what the title says. Played Beyond Light, game ran just fine. Bought Witch Queen, now it's literally unplayable. Furthest I've managed to go is to the Bungie logo on the startup screen. After uninstalling and reinstalling, I can't even make it that far. The game "launches" according to Steam, but no splash screen or actual application opens in any processes, it reserves the RAM for the game but immediately dumps it and I never actually leave the desktop.
Google is, as usual, totally useless on this, and literally every forum/Reddit/Twitter/whatever thread I've found on anything like this either goes unanswered and there's no help, or it's the same canned "check your drivers and launch as administrator" response that every tech support bot gives you. I can't even refund Witch Queen because Steam doesn't allow refunds for DLC, so thus far for about 3 weeks I've just burned $40 for a game that I can now literally not play, or even look at.
Some actual assistance or at least a "we are listening" from somebody at Bungie would be neat and not total silence. I apologize if I sound bitter, it's because I am. Again, 3 weeks of trying various fixes to somehow only worse results.

7 RepliesEdited by TEKnowledgy: 4/3/2022 10:43:52 AMi wonder if you and all others have tried deleting the settings file yet? might need a options reset. but if you saved your file on server and not your pc there maybe an issue but hey nothing to lose so why not try and see? You'll have reset everything up if it works but im sure just getting it to work would make you all happy? Give you advice on this if you pay attention, that way if it dont work you can still have your old settings backed up. First press windows key+r then copy/paste this make sure to use your username for windows account where i put USERNAME ok. C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs press enter that will take you to settings files. Now make a new folder call it "Backups" no quotations. Now take the 2 files 1 called cvars.xml and other cvars.old (if got extension view off they both just say cvars) highlight select both then right click cut. Then go in the "Backups" folder you made and right click paste. Now try running game if this does work please let me know. If it don't work please let me know aswell because I might have a few more tricks up my sleeve we can try by editing the cvars. take care and get back to me on the results! ps if by chance these files dont exists, we'll make them exist by creating your own. But 1st I'll wait before we travel together on the next path.
