No inspect option to see what the shader will look like on a weapon before reshaping it. Cannot be refunded once put in a crafted weapon. Can only store one at a time. Cannot see the title when inspecting another player's gun which has a memento slotted, when slotted on your own weapon it's hardly noticeable.
This is really disappointing on top of the already disappointing crafting system as a whole (mainly enhanced traits don't feel worth the grind for extra materials). There needs to be some sort of inspect option before you lock it into the weapon for how rare these things are, otherwise you may not like the look of it and feel you wasted a memento. The title should be noticeable and not only visible for the player who crafted it on the bottom right next to the craft date. What if you wanted to compare the mementos on your favorite crafted weapon but don't want to lose the current memento you have slotted? Tough luck, you just have to get lucky with getting another one again if you don't like replacing the Nightfall memento with the Trials one.
Seriously, how was this not thought of when we can preview transmogged gear before using a Synthweave and those are easily obtainable? Don't get me wrong, the shaders look nice but are way too costly for the rarity due to the fact that they cannot be previewed. Before you ask, no these cannot be previewed from the collections as they are not universal shaders.

Also, can I have one gambit, GM, and Trials momento in my inventory at the same time?

What did you expect? This whole DLC seems to be about parity and tedium. They apparently spent their entire wad on the campaign itself and thought that would keep people playing afterwards. Literally EVERY video game has a campaign better than Witch Queen (though this one was good, just short comparitively), but people play Destiny for the replayable content. Replayable content is as bad as it gets right now. They seem to think crafting will keep people around all by itself.

I think they're fine aside from only being able to hold one, and being unable to preview the shader Trials one is neat, excited to see what other ones might do with the shader

6 RepliesI laughed out loud when I logged onto youtube after work and every single "content creator" had a video that was basically titled "Momentos Are Insane" and it's just a gold shader lol ... stuff like this is why I completely disregard almost everything they and Bungie say about everything.

I slapped my Trials memento on my level 31 crafted Thoughtless sniper, i mean the shader looks amazing but overall the memento itself is a little... Underwhelming. Idk what i expected but the weapon Title is pretty cool alongside the Shader i guess... Yeah. But anyways, i agree would be nice to see what we could earn which would in turn give us a personal option of persuing that specific reward. Shame we cant put Trials Memento's on to their respective weapons in relation to the game mode, like at least the latest Adept weapons should be able to hold a Trials Memento. Likewise for when GM's come out... Thats just my opinion.

I honestly don’t really care. All I wanted was a vanity item, all I needed was a vanity item, and what I got was a vanity item. There’s other things I think Bungie should focus on instead of making mementos more than a neat shader and tracker, because that’s all they need to be.

Allow you to change the frame. Allow you to change your sights. An option to rotate your shader. Double your drop rates for content in activities when using the weapon. It could have been anything. Just another lazy concept that only matter to the players who don’t want to see the potential in this game reached. Don’t get me wrong, I am all game for the shader but the other stuff just isn’t worth it and I have a Gambit memento.

I actually quite like the shaders you get from them, put the gambit one on my smg and I think it looks great. It would be cool if it was more noticeable outside of the shader, but I don’t care much. I think my main issue is how they are DELETED if you take it off of a weapon. I mainly put a memento on my smg because it was my only crafted weapon at a high enough level to make use of the effects, and now I can’t take it off unless I want to regrind another one. I think it’s a really stupid decision, and we should be able to reuse mementos.
