Constructive Criticism As A Hunter Main.

To Whoever Reads this, I want to say I appreciate you giving me this post the time of day. I want to go state first and foremost that I’m trying to go into this as unbiased as possible, and that I respect everyone at bungie for their hard work and dedication to the game and community. There have been many nerfs that have come out, reasonably so, for the hunter and while I think that is a great thing, I want to make a small list of the things I’ve noticed: • Hunter supers are very unreliable at this stage in the game, which makes PvE and PvP Gameplay feel lacking from time to time. I Say this because as it stands, Tether and Bottom Tree Golden Gun (with Celestial NightHawk), feel like the only Viable Supers at this point in the game. We Have Yet to see what Solar and Arc 3.0 look like, so fingers crossed that this shakes things up, but as of now, I really only feel like I can count on those whenever it comes to endgame content. Arc supers for the hunters feel like a copy and paste for all three branches, which I would love to see change. Solar used to be great, but I feel like Way of A thousand cuts could Definitely use a buff. •On the topic of Exotics: I love some of the exotic hunter designs, I truly do. With that being said, I feel as though I can speak for most hunters when I say that we have very few to choose from that feel very rewarding at this point. Blight Ranger for example. It is such a niche exotic, that essentially provides no support in PvE, and only rarely makes PvP fun, considering most tend to run away from supers instead of engage, not to mention in both modes there are more viable supers to choose from in the first place. Please, we would enjoy if you gave us exotics that enhance utility and weapon or ability usage in a much broader way, as well as giving us balanced exotics off the bat, instead of giving us exotics that can break the game essentially, but get nerfed a week later to the point that it just doesn’t feel viable anymore (I speak of Radiant Dance Machines, Rest in Piece my Beloved). •Seasonal Mods: It does get to a point where it feels bad looking at the mods and realizing that your super, which back in the day, helped carry through raids has been compressed into a Debuff mod. What’s the point in using a tether debuff when I can achieve that same effect with a grenade, or the season prior, with a fusion rifle? There’s no point In playing hunter, because in endgame content the only time I feel like I contribute now is when I go invis, to resurrect my allies in a grandmaster. Or tether, to shut down a super in trials. Goldie maybe in raids. There has to be utility in the class, something that makes it unique. What’s a warlock without their rift? or a Titan without their barricade? Well? Ward of Dawn? Give a hunter the ability to perform those abilities, and it would make the point of a class system useless. There needs to be utility that stays class specific, and makes playing your class feel viable, no matter what you main. The Future is bright for the Destiny franchise, anyone can see that, and I can’t wait to see what we have in store for us. I think every class needs changes, and to say “only work on hunters” would be selfish. I want every class to have their fair share, considering I play every class! I just wanted to state my perspective as a hunter main, the things I enjoy and/or would like to see change, and to give a structured argument to the best of my ability. If you’ve reached the end, congrats! Thanks for reading this stupidly long post! I wish you all the best, and I ask only for your support if you agree, or criticism if it’s constructive. Peace Out, oh Guardian Mine.

  • This is just another post from a hunter crying & wanting a game that's already catered to them to be even more so.

      • At least you have 2 viable supers. The only decent super with any power a titan has , is the titan crash with fallen star chest plate. Titan void 3.0? Pretty much the same with the exception of the grenade lasting longer but then again all 3 have that. While a hunter can now not only go invisible but also go blind to the radar, they pretty much pop out of no where. Warlock, well, they have that devour ball thing that socks the life out of the person they shoot out. What's a titan got? Oh yeah a 5 second health shield if they cast a abracadabra oh but o ly even then if they give up a box and have only 3. So when a titan can go invisible almost constant and blind to a radar at the same time then you can come back

        • You can’t use blight ranger to say that there’s not that many exotics to choose from. Yeah, it’s dog -blam!-, but there’s dozens of other amazing exotics.

          • You don’t know how to play Hunter if you think void Hunter doesn’t have utility. Best dps super and add clear in the game, can remain invis for eternity, smoke bomb is a micro tether & disorients. On top of all the well mods this class has alot to offer. Sounds like you just need to play titan or warlock since you disagree.

            • Blade barrage, spectral, arcstaff are the only bad hunter supers. While this constitutes a lot of them, they can be fixed fairly easily with a buff. Exotics are fine, for a majority. New helmet is worthless in pve, and a meme in pvp. A majority of them have their uses, some don’t, but welcome to all classes and their exotics. Seasonal mods rotate in and out - this is a non factor. Additionally, tether gives a much higher debuff than the weaken effect from the grenade mod.

            • I don’t even use a Super or an exotic armor piece anymore on my hunter. Volatile rounds and deathbringer/gjallarhorn are 2-3x as effective as killing enemies as anything else I could possibly use. Very very boring season

            • So I wanna go through your points in order because I agree with you in some places, and disagree entirely in others. 1. Hunter supers are very, very powerful. Yes, mobius quiver and golden gun are your boss-killers, but they’re deadly and can be used at any range. Titans only have one impactful boss-killer right now, and we have to put ourselves in stomp range. You also have shadow-shot deadfall for support/cc, silence and squall for long duration add clear, and honestly blade barrage was a completely valid damage dealer against atheon too. Goldie also gives you a beast pvp version that heavily rewards a good pvp player. I’ll give you the arc hunter though… the arc supers need love and a general rework. 2. Every class has a mix of niche and powerful exotics, hunters included. I don’t think it’s fair to use a new and incredibly bad exotic as an example, especially when in the same breath hunters got renewal grasps which are AMAZING. Hunters have a bevy of beast exotics (Orpheus rigs, omniculus, celestial nighthawk, the revised lucky pants, mask of bakris, wormhusk crown, stompees etc. so yes, blight ranger sucks, but that’s not to say hunters don’t get amazing exotics. 3. This I will generally agree with: artifact mods that turned weapons into weakeners like breach and clear and particle deconstruction gutted the hunter class’ PvE viability last expansion. So far, so good (suppressive darkness isn’t nearly as usable as those other mods were), but I completely agree the weakener mods kill shadowshot hunters.

              • Blight Ranger has 1 use and its PvE and that 1 specific scenario is against Goliath Tanks and hitting their main shell back at them. Most Hunter Exotics revolve around their class ability especially recently is that the Players fault? No its bungies it would be nice to see some boost maybe melee abilities or something

Also shot a titan in pvp with a full clip of funnelweb volitile and he gained shield. That has to stop.

                • Well "The future is bright for Destiny" is another lie by the Vidoc team that they literally use every single year. And to me, the future always looks way darker than before. D2 had it's peak in 2018 with Forsaken. Now it's just a glorified hamster wheel grind cash cow. But hey to each their own. I understand that people who didn't play year 2 will believe their marketing phrases and eat it up but the future definitely objectively is not bright for this game.

                  • As a hunter main I think you did a solid job. Especially our exotic choices and supers. Like I want to see bones brought back on hunter. That would be great for what we have. Radiant dance machines need a rework. They should make strafe speed faster. That's it. Like those melee exotics should be reworked. Like the one is identical to grave robber. Like that one should be like grant an over shield instead of reload the mag. Same as one eyed basically. I think hunter supers should be made more useful but give titans and warlocks more movement if that makes sense

                  • You’re pretty much right about the exotics, but I’d say void hunter is the best PvE class overall rn

                  • Stasis is great on hunters, especially with the new gloves (even better in pve). I’ll give you the fact that tether has pretty much had it’s identity removed (with seasonal mods, tractor canon, etc), but that’s why Bungie made it kinda a nuke this season.
Running the legendary campaign with friends, I always relied on my hunter friend to do big chunk damage and weaken the boss.
• Arc needs a HUGE buff for hunters the only subclass that feels uneeded currently in any mode. Solar is in need of a buff too but not as badly. This is coming from a Warlock main.

                    • meh always done just fine with arcstaff, granted i don’t play pve. It’s not great but it’s not terrible, can’t just be popping it in the open. Same with stompess don’t really need anything else, character moves like -blam!- without them.
