can someone please help me understand bungies obsession with not allowing matchmaking for these types of activities? legend nightfalls, vox obscura, the list goes on. . . why bungie why?

I think Bungie should have the option available in-game for almost everything but if matchmaking with random blueberries is too frustrating then there's always LFG as an alternative. Personally I've seen some incredible players in the areas of the game that use Bungie matchmaking and seen clueless ones in LFG. I'm sure players will figure it out soon enough where they need to lean more into LFG matchmaking.

28 RepliesThe "hardcore" players need something to feel good about. It's just gatekeeping to keep the general public from running the activity without being forced into using the third-party App. Same reason matchmaking is not available for every mode in this game as an option for players who want to accept the challenges that random pugs bring with it. All comes down to the elitist community needing validation that they can do modes that the "casuals" can't because they have the clan or bought into the forced App need smoke screen.
-
3 RepliesThe fact that the BDF is here in full force simply demonstrates that there are players that will defend absolutely anything Bungie does even if it does not even affect them. Pathetic.
-
Because the player base is bad. They won’t run mods or run the map correctly. See corrupted/gambit/quickplay/ib for the sorts of folks that you will match with on average Maybe legendary could be mm if people are a certain light level… just because you can nuke champions without mods if you team shoot them with heavies but it will still go poorly 85 percent of the time. For master and grandmaster hard pass on the mm with the arc striders running blue side arms and no mods The whining and screams for nerfing content that would follow from additional mm is not worth it
-
Totally should have matchmaking and just have a minimum level requirement to join a group.
-
7 RepliesThey need to add an in-game LFG process if they are going to continue to have activities that require a pre-made fireteam. A robust LFG system would be ideal, but even some additional step in the current matchmaking system could also work. You start matchmaking. As players are found they load into the HELM. Once in the HELM they can start to adjust their loadouts. Once a full team is found AND a "checklist" of required equipment (Champion mods, weapon elements for shield types, etc) is met then the activity can be launched. Yeah, there is the Find Fireteam feature in the Companion App and on Bungie.net, but not everyone has a smartphone or has a computer next to their console.

2 RepliesPeople can’t even properly stun champions after over two years, same train of thought can be applied to why matchmaking will never surpass vanguard strikes caliber
-
6 RepliesBungie doesn’t trust the playerbase. They only believe in the elitists.
-
11 RepliesBox obscure is because all of those missions are like that. There are triumphs even for soloing them. As for the others it’s because they’re harder than they seem. Due to match game and the prevalence of champions you can’t just throw three randoms into one. They’ll never finish it. It requires some coordination between those in the activity.
-
2 RepliesI blame Bungie and also the playerbase. Bungie could add to the lockout system to have to have mods equipped to complete the encounters. The playerbase could learn to read the recommendations for said encounters and curtail to the needs of them.
-
12 RepliesConsidering the one fireteam I COULD find to do this activity with, one of the teammates didn't even load barrier mods on....I think that's why. People who don't put mods on in activities where champions are present infuriate the hell out of me.
-
2 RepliesEdited by NVMYGT: 3/23/2022 4:03:34 PMBecause there are players that don't do objectives. There are players that won't equip champion mods and will just run ahead and either die a dozen times or cause champions to despawn, go AFK and expect to be carried, will attempt to put a round peg into a square hole, that refuse to do the objectives to make a public event go heroic. Do the Corrupted Strike about 50 times, you will see how bad matchmaking can be. You want them to be dropped in your team?

Edited by [[BIG SHOT]]: 3/24/2022 4:47:04 PMI don’t have an issue with using lfg this is seriously a non issue. Most of the activities you named can be done with no communication. Just say no mic in your post and I guarantee someone will join for a run.
-
Because these activity need a minimum of effort While some player don't think they are difficult ..lots of player would be absolute deadweight in them And would use the matchmaking as a carry When people can barely pull thought regular strike ....yea its a good thing legend is locked that way
-
They probably expect you to find friends using the current matchmaking to make friends for the hard content.... Maybe join a clan?
-
Guardian, Archon Of LightArchon Priest Of House Light - old
But for strikes , which is arguably the easiest activity in the game , matchmaking is mandatory -

7 RepliesLegendary is what's considered high end, end game content. Seeing as Destiny is a community, social game that works best with a fireteam of coordinated people for difficult modes, it only makes sense. Hence why clans are so popular. If that's not agreeable with you, Destiny isn't the game for you
-
10 RepliesProbably because it’s harder content. I’d rather use an lfg and form my own fireteam then get blueberries with no thumbs or mods.
-
3 RepliesMaybe because it requires teams to discuss loadouts beforehand? A lot of people can't even function in the normal version and you want them on your fireteam in harder content? Nah.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Artemis Luna: 3/23/2022 11:39:17 AMThis is precisely why I made this thread... In order to make Legend difficulty more challenging they always add the Match-Game modifier which would be fine on its own, but the issue is that they always PAIR IT with the other modifier Locked-Loadout, which inherently makes Matchmaking not viable since you HAVE to plan your loadouts with your fireteam before the activity starts. If Legend difficulty ONLY had Match-Game but NOT Locked-Loadout then matchmaking would work just fine because each individual player would be capable of changing their own build mid-activity to deal with a particular obstacle, but as long as bungie insist of pairing both modifiers together Locked-loadout will always necessitate assembling a fireteam ahead of time.

1 ReplyBecause bungie are idio**. Lfg is the same ad matchmaking but worse because it takes so much time. Played psi ops legend. Joined a group no talking. How is this different from matchmaking bungie?
-
2 RepliesAt this point LFG should be a thing in the game, not outside of the game, it's fracking ridiculous as long as this game has been out that it isn't.

5 RepliesEdited by PVP SUX: 3/23/2022 8:16:10 AMBecause People are considered dumb and do not want nor can learn the mechanics of this simply rotten thing called a game! I play chess IRL and some think i can not solve a puzzle in a raid nor "mechanics" that look like a five year old has put together! The only thing that is annoying is this difficulty scaling. Im not a sweatlord, but i have completed Sekiro, Dark souls series and other considered "Difficult" GAMES. And i seem not be able to progress in this game without glitching or have to cheat to get there! That to me is a FAILURE in game design! Just look at the streamers playing this game, only a select few of them manages to do it with the loadouts at hand without cheating the game! Put on Match making for everything, it's up to the players, it's their time and money!

1 ReplyThis is a prime example where some design/development growth from the Bungie team SHOULD of been on full display. I’m talking about an “optional matchmaking” option. The games been out 7+yrs it should be improving from a QoL standpoint over time and not remain stagnant. Optional for those willing to roll the dice with randos and those wishing to partake with a premade squad can do so as well. At the end of the day. Everybody wins.

Because they know it will be a -blam!- show. Hell regular mode has a lot of players that have no clue what they are doing.
