This was shown in D1 with us and then Savathun when Ikora said “the Hidden will secure the remains.” Which seems to imply a Light-Bearer cannot be revived unless there’s some form of physical body left.
However, Guardians get disintegrated and blown up into dust all the time. So... can Immaru revive Savathun anywhere? Or does he really need the remains?

Maybe the Guardian’s DNA is saved inside the Ghost. Also the Ghost keeps A copy of the Guardian’s mind stored in real time. So when revived the Guardian is A Copy with up to date Memories. Time travel has to many chances of A paradox or a Conundrum to occur. If you want to involve the remains the Ghost only really needs a molecule to make a clone.

1 ReplyI like to think that the energy field they create is actually them reversing the idea of time within the boundaries of the energy to bring back a dead guardian moments before they originally die, however being pulled into a future would cause damage to the memory of said creature/humanoids brain. We already have time traveling aliens and a spicy exo alongside the fact we haven't yet gotten the full reason behind the Traveller's Existence and what lays in the core of it. There's even a possibility that the Darkness is the true ally to Humanity whilst the god the Fallen and Humanity praise might be the cause of the all the loss and death, for example we know that the Witness and Rhulk have been creating Alliances with Calus and the 5 Worms but we don't know why, why does the Darkness need allies when their fleet can easily conquer systems.

I’m going to assume it has something to do with the traveler teleporting away and (maybe?) taking Immaru with it. Just speculation however.

3 RepliesEdited by Yojimbo: 3/22/2022 7:34:53 PMsafe to say that anything is possible since mara and her crew were annihilated by the dreadnought in the taken king expansion and she is supposedly back and still remains ghostless. ghosts aren't limited by monogamy either, as evidenced with jaren wards ghost finding shin malphur (by finding its implied resonating with someone, anyone, who meets the criteria ~ complimentary resonance frequencies). in otherwords, savathun may be dead but someone like savathun could be either revived and/or blessed/cursed by immaru.

1 ReplyI've wondered this myself. Even Calus brought this up during the menagerie. To me, this is a small lore oversight on bungie's end. Just like when they touched on the topic of killing ghosts in forsaken. In D1 anything could kill a ghost, but post forsaken only darkness infused objects like a thorn dagger could kill a ghost.

Ghost revivals always seem to happen within proximity of the death. Whether we’re talking lore or gameplay. I don’t think there’s any statement of a ghost just going a million miles away to get a safe rez for their guardian.

katabasis died of starvation in a closet somewhere and gilgamesh revived him in a room full of scorn

Edited by Knightlight: 3/23/2022 6:05:00 AMWhen we die to a fusion rifle it doesn't actually destroy our atoms (as by normal laws matter cannot be created or destroyed). It just spreads it them around and the Ghost collectects them all in an instant for the revival process to take place. If an enemy of paracasual power had the ability to truly destroy our molecules rather then spread them into microscopic peices, then yes revival might be impossible. But that's just my guess. Edit: If the ghost can't find the body or molecules then revival is impossible.

Ikora has Savathûn contained as much as Mara had Savathûn contained. The fact that it's happening twice is hilarious being that it isn't even Savathûn that's there again! 🤭

Need to be relatively close to where you were when you died. Taking the remains means Immaru can’t get close.

4 RepliesMy theory - since matter cannot be destroyed, only displaced...as long as there is a singular cell remaining, any ghost should be able to do its job. Now, since Ikora is making the mistake of "securing the remains" as opposed to launching her into the sun, there's bound to be something where Immaru sneaks in, revives her, and that's when we make a pact with Savathun much in the way we do with Cai'ital.

Edited by Centaur-1: 3/22/2022 10:46:12 PMThey use the same body every time and have to stay with the corpse until you respawn, even if the Ghost has to recollect your atoms and piece you back together. At least that’s how I see it. Ghosts can also transmat our bodies to somewhere safe which is why you usually spawn on the other side of the map and spend half the mission trying to get back to where you died. Some Ghosts theorize that they take another you from another timeline where you didn’t die and basically replace you with that… other you. Personally, I’m not a fan of that and it has yet to be officially proven.
