From March 17, i’ve been getting “baboon” over and over, as well as “contacting destiny 2 servers.” Tested internet connection, everything is good. Troubleshooted every possible thing on my end but no improvement. Anyone else experiencing this? Bungie plz help!
UPDATE 3/20/2022: using a vpn does seem to work to get back into the game. But without a vpn, i cannot get into anything whatsoever. I am also on telus fibre like a few people have also mentioned, but friend of mine with a different provider also had similar connection issues. Also located in BC.
Seems like something’s up with the BC/West Coast region being unable to connect to bungie servers since all of us have no issue with our internet outside of trying to access D2~
UPDATE 3/22/2022: still can’t get into the game. Can’t even make it to character select without getting ‘baboon’ ‘weasel’ or ‘centipede’. Seeing a lot more chatter about this on reddit and twitter though, so im hoping soon bungie will look into this :(
UPDATE 3/23/2022: game seems to be working ok now

I am in MN, USA and have been experiencing this issue since a mid March update. I am constantly seeing contacting destiny 2 servers and often am getting kicked from activities. I have replaced my modem, tried multiple configurations for DNS and MTU on the router, my NAT is open and nothing seems to improve it. Other games run fine. Would really like this fixed as it has been weeks now with no resolve.

1 ReplyEdited by noguffay: 3/26/2022 12:35:12 AMSo it's over? as of 3/23/2022, no more issues with D2 servers? And no insight as to what it was, from Telus nor Bungie?
-
1 ReplyI didn't read through every single thread reply here, but is everyone using a PC/Steam/D2 install? or is it happening to all platforms of D2? What is the IP address that D2 server for the west coast is using, better yet that these Telus ISP users are connecting to?

1 ReplyEdited by sergeantjamjams: 3/19/2022 4:49:05 AMMORE INFO: Issues started late on march 16th. random disconnects, getting kicked from all activities including just being at the tower, and constant "contacting destiny 2 servers" message after character select. also slow-loading inventory/subclass swaps. happening on PC (steam). 5 RepliesEdited by Turbanator: 3/20/2022 3:08:09 AMCan any Bungie Help Devs respond? This isn't a one-off thing. Everyone of my friends (west-coast players) are ALL having the same problem, and it all started March 17. PLEASE HELP!

I've been having the same issues since at least last reset, and same, west coast BC. Loads of stuttering lag and desyncing, babooning at least once every other match, telus internet seems fine outside of playing D2. Is there a forum to report the issue to Bungie, or is this somehow a western canada telus specific issue?
-
1 ReplyThis is happening to multiple people in my clan in the BC region. Easily repeatable on login in, every time 'Contacting Destiny 2 Servers' when entering the game. During game, dismantling or other actions can cause the message to happen, or at least an extreme delay (noticable with bounty turn ins). Baboon and Weasel errors are frequent. I'd really enjoy not getting a ban because either the local internet infrastructure or Bungie's routing policy is having severe issues. This started after the Tuesday reset.

1 ReplyEdited by Turbanator: 3/21/2022 3:46:12 AMUPDATE 3/20/2022. It has come to my knowledge that RUNESCAPE is also experiencing a similar problem. My brother notified me of this today. And again, using a VPN seems to resolve his issues. So it seems like it is a Telus issue possibly. It looks like most of the people in this forum are using Telus (or one of their subsidiaries). This may be a wider issue involving Telus's network. Any ideas would be great, because I honestly don't know where to start with getting a hold of Telus. I assume phoning them will only go as far as getting in contact with a tech rep whose basic instructions are to tell you to restart your router.

Thought it was only me lol. I'm in Van BC

I'm also on the west-coast and experiencing these connection issues, especially "Baboon". Bungie please see this and do something about it.
-
Also having these issues just started a few days ago, Okanagan BC Canada. I've tried everything, Different Router, Reinstalled game, Port forwarding, set telus router to bridge mode (which opened my NAT type) I am hardwired in and still constant error codes and contacting destiny servers.
-
Same issue it is not our end. I have done everything on the troubleshooting help page and the baboons are still at large. Actually just got glory suspended because of one. This isn’t on our ends bungi!!!!

1 ReplyI'm in Vancouver BC, on Telus Fibre, and this is happening to me as well. I made a reddit thread as well. So if you all want another platform to let Bungie know this bullshit is unacceptable, feel free to comment over there too. The more people aware of the problem, the better. I bet there are a lot of people on Telus getting these problems who haven't checked these forums. https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/tka9vj/destiny_2_is_borderline_unplayable_for_many_in/

I’m in Ontario and same thing, cleared cache, reset router, open NAT, checked everything, with Rogers and yet still constant baboon, anteater and contact Destiny 2 servers. Almost every other activity I get kicked. Frustrating when it’s been like this since the big “maintenance” 2 weeks ago.

3 RepliesThis error can be due to packet loss or disconnections between your home network and Bungie (such as ISP saturation or general internet congestion). It can even be caused by certain WiFi setups, or mobile hotspots that may have experienced a blip or loss of connection.

Yeah my friend on the east coast of Canada has been getting it non stop for about a week and a half. This is to the point that I’m so bummed out about his situation that I’m posting on here. It’s very annoying when raiding
-
I’m also located in Vancouver, BC and on PC. I’m glad I found this post though because I thought I was the only one having this issue.
-
I’ve been having the exact same issue, and have done everything possible trouble shooting wise. I’m am also located in BC Canada and have fiber internet as well. Hopefully we can get a response from bungie
-
Been having the same problem for the last week or so, and it's gotten worse over the last couple of days. I'm not on the west coast, but I've tried everything possible on my end and believe it's a bungie problem.

Edited by SeasonsInsanity: 3/20/2022 8:34:19 AMRepost: Since 17/03/22 when I try to join or invite players to a fireteam, after an extended delay I'm given an error message that says 'This cannot be completed due to a network issue' no error code is included. No team is found when I enter anything that uses matchmaking, I just end up in playlist activities like strikes and psiops solo, even in 'overland' locations and instances like the tower, EDZ, europa etc I see no other players. I'm in the UK on Xbox. 20/3/22: Still no other players, ANYWHERE.

I've been getting a lot of "Contacting Destiny 2 Servers" with intermittent Error Code: baboons. I'm also on the west coast (Canada). I've tested my internet connection, tried most of the troubleshooting recommendations, and I'm not having connection issues with any other games/Netflix/Youtube/etc.

3 RepliesYep, me and my friends are experiencing the same thing. Started on March 17. Right on launch after selecting character we get the "Contacting Destiny 2 Servers" notification on the bottom. And it takes awhile to load in. Then we have been getting a lot of "Baboon" error codes while in Activities. Also our inventory loads slow (i.e., switching weapons, unlocking/locking items). We are on PC and none of these problems have occurred up until yesterday.
-
Just commenting to say this is all also happening to myself, starting March 17th, I live 5 hours outside of Vancouver BC. Baboon errors, then to bat code with a full send to the menu screen.
-
Also getting the same issue - Telus network provider, Vancouver region. I thought I was going crazy. Hoping we get a fix soon!
-
Having the exact same issue. Telus Fibre in BC. Constant lag spikes, "Contacting Destiny 2 Servers", and Baboon errors when playing in Crucible. The random lag makes hit registration difficult and Iron Banner has been a chore rather than a treat this week. Can we have someone look into this please?
-
1 ReplyYep, me too. BC Interior, Telus Fibre, rampant connectivity hiccups. Though I haven't seen any Baboons. I've gotten a single Currant and a single Weasel. And the connection issues weirdly seem to be mostly in UI, managing inventory and such. No issues in actual gameplay, but the second I need to equip something, it starts to dry heave. Hopefully fixed soon. Might have to go play some Warframe in the meantime if this keeps up.
