Not all monsters are monsters.
Some just want to be free, foolish ones who fight against the system and the society in place. Like Savathûn.
The ones who forge their own path regardless of consequence to themselves based on what they think is right. Because if fools are wrong, they're wrong. But if they're right then that's when they shine the brightest.
Like Savathûn being blessed by the Traveler, and how her restoring Crow's memories influenced him to do what he did.
Call it a Dream of Beasts.

Edited by Courageous Mike: 3/19/2022 9:18:17 AM"Mercy to an enemy cannot come at the cost of mercy to their victims" While the Hive were tricked into what they are now by the Witness, they have had every chance to change their ways, If not in the past, then most certainly now. Savathun was shown the witness's deception, but she chose to continue being what she was. Sympathy for the devil doesn't make the devil good.

Well, look at it like this, is satan or Lucifer or The devil (neither is his real name) morning star or shining one is more accurate to translation, evil? There are those who believe satan was just some kind of rebellious liberator, even in early Christianity, there was a sect that believed Jesus and the Devil were the same being, being that morning star was used as nicknames in the Bible for both. But Lucifer meaning light bearer , you can see how all because something wields light or darkness it doesn’t really tell you how good or evil something is.

Savathûn was gifted the Light because the Traveler knew she would hide it away from the Darkness. The Traveler seems to be an opportunist. I believe that’s the “Truth” the Witch Queen marketing was telling us to survive. While the Light itself is definitely a less corruptive force, it can certainly be used for evil. We saw that with the Warlords, and we’re seeing it now with the Lucent Brood stealing the Light of Guardians and using it for rituals. Savathûn and the Hive are still objectively evil despite using the Light. The Lucent Brood are still as vicious as the regular Hive. Humanity is at least willing to work with those who wish to be allies. If the Lucent Brood wished for companionship, they wouldn’t have invaded Earth right away to start slaughtering New Lights en masse. We’re no longer fighting for the Light, but instead for the survival of humanity and its allies. Those who wish to seek genuine companionship will be welcomed with open arms, and those who wish to destroy us will get one hell of a fight.

If Savathun is supposed to be a villain, Than what was the point in showing her the memory that the darkness tricked them , if she was just going to keep fighting us anyway Seems like a plot point that was instantly thrown away -
3 RepliesCan a lore expert answer a few questions I have? Are each Lucent hive selected by the traveler like savathun? Or is she imbuing them somehow? What are the moths exactly? Ghost says they are imbued by light or something in one of the missions, but is it ever expanded on in any of the lore?

1 ReplyThe hives original form weren't bad, however they now are.

5 RepliesThe Hive were never truly evil, but that doesn't mean we start trusting the evil -blam!-, like Elsie Bray says.

Besides Bungie can't make a new evil race for us to fight without it being a recolor and the hive are the darkest race. I'm happy fighting them. Also love that this expansions hear has some irl satanic symbols on it especially how the expac revolves around the hive.
