Destiny 2 on PC fails to start (ERROR: Beagle)

05/15/2022: In another post I made a Mentor and another user helped narrow down the problem to a failed memory stick. If you are on PC and experiencing the BEAGLE error then please check out the other post as it has some guidance from the community to determine if your memory stick(s) failed too. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/261078703 05/12/2022: Re-wrote the post with the hope that it is easier to follow. 05/06/2022: Randomly the game had been working for about 2 weeks. After about 2 hours of game play on May 6th the sluggishness of the game menus became extremely noticeable; pictures not loading, blank pages, very slow. I figured a crash was coming, and it did just before midnight loading into Gambit ... the BEAGLE error. 04/03/2022: The game had worked since I replaced the SSD ... until tonight. Loading into the Throne World caused an error. The following System events were logged: ---[BEGIN: EVENT LOG]--- 4/3/2022 10:14:40 PM File System Filter 'BEDaisy' (Version 10.0, ‎2021‎-‎02‎-‎22T19:52:18.000000000Z) unloaded successfully. 4/3/2022 10:14:46 PMUser Logoff Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program ---[END: EVENT LOG]--- So I'm out of the game again. If Bungie could acknowledge the game has a problem or just ask for additional information I'm sure the issue could be resolved. But until then, I have done enough research leading to dead ends. Hopefully Bungie will help sooner than later. 03/25/2022: Replaced SSD. My motherboard can only take one internal SSD, so I replaced my Crucial P1 500GB SSD with a Samsung 980 PRO 1TB PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe. This included a clean install of Windows 10 Pro. I partitioned the drive (C:Drive 250 GB and D:Drive 750 GB) with the C:Drive holding the OS and the D:Drive all apps & games. Also created two user accounts, one Admin and the other normal user. Gaming is done with the normal user account. So far the game has not crashed but I do not consider this a fix, it's a technical spaghetti throw at the wall guesswork, and would not be surprised if the game crashed again. 03/20/2022: My "fix" on 03/18/2022 only worked for a few hours of gaming. At 1:00 PM EST the game crashed - guess what, the same BEAGLE error. WTF. 03/18/2022: I am able to run the game without an error and successfully played last evening. Following is what I did and installed. I hope it helps those with the same error: - Windows 10 Pro clean reset. - GeForce Studio Driver (older driver) --- WHQL, Driver Version: 511.17 --- Release Date: Tue Jan 11, 2022 --- Set game optimized settings. --- Turned off in-game overlays. - Steam --- Turned off in-game overlays. - Discord - Firefox - Disabled Xbox Gaming Bar 03/11/2022: Around 11:30 PM EST, I now receive the dreaded Beagle error. While in the middle of playing the game crashed, on reopening the game I received the validation status, then the following error: ---[BEGIN]--- Verifying content Server Error Unreadable game content. A full Destiny 2 install is required. Error code: beagle ---[END]--- -------------------------------------- Notes and things tried without success -------------------------------------- - Using Steam, not Xbox Game Pass. - Why is this console error appearing on PC? (https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049196011-Error-Code-BEAGLE) - Uninstalled Destiny 2, restart PC, install game, get error. - Uninstalled Destiny 2, restart PC, uninstall Steam, restart PC, install Steam, restart PC, install game, get error. - Tried older NVIDIA drivers (511.65) as a clean install, but received the same old error. - Game did work temporarily after a clean Windows reset. - Nothing in the Event Log seems related. - Tried many suggestions from various forum posts but so far nothing helps. - Replaced SSD. - Disabled RAM overclock. -------------------------------------- PC specs -------------------------------------- - Windows 10 Pro (21H2, 19044.1586) - GeForce RTX 3060 Ti - GeForce Game Ready Driver - WHQL, Driver Version: 511.79 - Release Date: Tue Feb 14, 2022 - Intel Core i5-10400 - SSD --- OLD: Crucial P1 500GB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD --- NEW: Samsung 980 PRO 1TB PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe

  • I want to share this info, maybe someone will make use of it. I had the same problem and to fix it I did hard reset on the partition with my system (I needed to do it anyway). IT WORKED... for 2 days.... A few minutes ago error occurred again and I'm so done with it that I'll probably quit destiny if reinstalling it again will not help. Good luck guys with this error...

  • Hope this helps you guys out because I was having the same problem all day today. I re-installed 4 times and tried validating the game files in steam a bunch with no success. Go to this folder location C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp and find the Destiny 2 folder and rename it to something else (ie. Destiny 2_backup) as far I can tell it just has log files for when Destiny 2 crashes. After I did this I was able to launch the game normally and play.

    • Add me to the list. Same issues. Unacceptable for the amount of money they ask. The silence from them is the worst part.

    • Did you ever get a fix for this? I just started getting this last night, tried rebooting PC, reinstalling game on a different drive, etc. Nothing works yet.

I will up vote because I got the error after finishing the Witch Queen camping and I can't play since. [Update] I deactivated both "WQ & 30th anniv. bundle" and "30th anniv." on Steam and it works now? I need someone else try this too. [Update] Forget about that, I am back at square one.

      • I posted a similar thread in the error codes sub forum. What pisses me off is that every suggested fix I tried seems to have compounded my problems because resetting my PC and reinstalling Steam and Destiny seems to have made it slower on top of error code Beagle.
