Renewal grasps are supposed to apply a damage debuff to opponents who stand in duskfield grenades. However this debuff (as well as the duskfield's slow itself!) are currently bugged and are only being applied some of the time. It seems to be based on where you're standing in the duskfield. This was supposed to have been fixed in patch 4.0.0.2, which has this patch note: [quote]Fixed an issue where the reduced damage debuff from the Renewal Grasps Exotic was only briefly applied. [/quote] Unfortunately this was not successfully fixed. I'm really excited to try these gloves out, I hope Bungie gets around to fixing them soon.
