So this is nit picky and the reasoning is probably just “video games” but is there a lore reason why ghosts can resurrect the hive within a darkness zone?
-
We can self res in most dark zones ourselves. Makes sense they can too I guess.
-
Logically, it's probably because when we "wipe," our ghost is inevitably destroyed/killed before we can resurrect. Since we crush the Hive ghosts, that could be considered their form of "wiping." That said, the lore around Darkness Zones in general is vague and doesn't explain much, so it's ultimately speculation unless we get a more defined answer.

We don’t know. We don’t know how darkness zones work to begin with. Ghosts have some ideas but it’s all guesswork.

6 RepliesYou want a lore reason? Simple, when WE die in a darkness zone, our Ghost’s light gets snuffed out. When THEY die, their Ghosts are already infused with the Darkness THEY have, so WE are the ones that need to kill their Ghosts

Wish they were still called darkness zones. So stupid that it was actually tied to the lore then they just did away with it.
-
You know I would also like a lore wise justification for this but I doubt we’ll get one

3 RepliesBecause when you die in a darkness zone the enemy crushes your ghost. When the Lucent Hive die in a darkness zone we’re the ones to crush their ghost.
-
4 RepliesThe lore that I make up for why that is is that it's not actually darkness preventing a rez, but the high hostility of the area making a ghost res dangerous
-
I interpret darkness zone to not mean literal instant permadeath, but it's a situation where if your ghost is unprotected it will be destroyed. Showing it happen is impractical. Their darkness zone would mean that their death would inevitably wind up with their ghost being destroyed.

For the sake of preserving gameplay. So yeah, it's one of those "because video game" situations.
-
It's one of those "it's a video game" reasons. Guardians very rarely are in a position where they can not be brought back to life, so even in areas with Darkness Zones, there is no reason we would be at risk of permanent death.
-
Probably the same reason we can restart in darkness zones, or "wipe" during a raid and restart the encounter?

1 ReplyThe more the game evolves the more transparent the retconning of years-worth of story becomes. They’re barely even hiding the fact that all these new concepts were never planned for and were clumsily executed. You can just hear the writers going “wouldn’t it be cool if…” and “don’t worry, we’ll just say ‘X’ and it’ll make sense…” This is what happens when you patch a game narrative together instead of having a solid, long term story structure.

Probs just game mechanics
