Most ambitious you've ever done? I feel like you guys were just trying too hard with this.
Deepstone Crypt was perfect and the things you do in it "make sense" and you can really see all the technology come together in a really cohesive way in both combat and the mechanics. It was very atmospheric and the exploration was beautiful.
But Vow just forgets to be a fun experience. The Final boss is the coolest since Oryx BUT, everything in between is so boring and draining. I can't see myself replaying this one after I clear it once and I hated that Scorn just HAD to be a part of it. They look so out of place.
On a side note, I'm really glad you opened the Pyramid up after the world first for a more lax tour through a darkness museum. In small doses, the Pyramid can be tolerable.
I hope in the future you can find that balance between fun and challenging. I'm done with symbols and simon says and want to see more original concepts like in the Deep Stone Crypt Raid.

Bungie has continued to design this game for the elitist. If it fun to them but not the rest of the community, it doesn’t matter. Fun is in the eyes of the beholder and if mechanics are too heavy in any sense where even breathing is an effort then it is probably only fun to a few and not many. WOTM, Crota, DSC and VOG are fun raids to me. King’s Fall was simply annoying and time consuming. Just make raids that force all players to have a part or role to play but make it decently mechanically based to where roles can be switch and gameplay is fun. Bungie needs to look at all the raids that they made and figure out what made each one unique or acceptable from the player’s perspective.

21 RepliesDSC is way too easy.

1 ReplyYou really had a problem with the mechanics? I found this raid to be pretty straight forward once you memorize the symbols. Most of the encounters only really need a couple people to really be paying attention.
-
1 ReplyVow of the Disciple is the best raid in D2, change my mind
-
1 ReplyFor me, Kings Fall has been the best raid in this games history, and had the perfect mix of mechanics and bossfights, whilst at the same time was alot of fun! Nothing has come close to it since unfortunately...(in my opinion)
-
3 RepliesI feel like they just overcomplicate things nobody wants to call out 9 symbols all the the time
-
Wrath of the Machine will always be my favorite raid. VotD might be a hard second.
-
17 RepliesMost def your opinion my man because the majority of the community loved every second of it. Including me. One of the best raids they’ve done in a long time.

8 RepliesEdited by An Engram Full Of Bees: 3/9/2022 8:26:48 AMThe museum aspect was by far and away the coolest part of this raid, and I think the raid gear design itself is probably some of the best we’ve gotten yet. That being said, I think the Rhulk boss fight is (aesthetically) horrible. Some of the boss animations are clearly not even finished, and you can see some major clipping in so many areas. I was really hoping this would beat out King’s Fall for what is (arguably) the best-designed raid in the franchise, but with this it’s become clear that 90% of Bungie’s effort on this expansion went into the campaign.

1 ReplyThe point that really stuck out to me is the Scorn being out of place. That's is such an understatement... This would've being the perfect opportunity to introduce new enemies. Not hive or vex with different skins, but actual new races. The pyramid aesthetic is so -blam!- cool tho. It does feel 'alien' and advanced. Prometheus like.

After 3 clears and initially crapping in it, here's my take. 1st encounter - Absolutely awful 2nd encounter - Eh, it's fine. Steals mechanics from Golgoroth but the pace is decent. 3rd encounter - Would be pretty fun without the awful symbols mechanic. Boss - Easy, looks cool. All in all, the raid is like a 4 out of 10 for me. Very forgettable. Would never run it for fun once the pinnacles go away and I get the weapons I want.
-
10 RepliesNot a fan of the weapon or armour design..... It just doesn't look fun at all.....
-
14 RepliesI agree 100%. Vow of the Disciple is VERY disappointing. At least now I will have a lot of extra time for Elden Ring. Hopefully they'll add King's Fall and Wrath of the Machine into the Legacy Playlist and put them at Pinnacle light level.

15 RepliesEdited by WhyUmad?: 3/8/2022 1:36:20 PMI was waiting for a new raid for quite awhile now and one thing i have to say is what a -blam!- show raid this is..... I didnt pay 70 bucks to puzzle my way out a raid?????? I bought is to shoot -blam!- not to look add some pictures on the wall just to progress to do the same thing for hours to compleet some -blam!- raid with the absolute ugliest gear and weapons i’ve ever seen in destiny history...... bungie maybe its time for some new content creators that actually make some nice looking (not even good) looking armor, with the 30th pack i though wow bungie going back to that d1 armor vibe but hell what was i wrong...... now i wish i just didn’t buy witch queen, ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!

1 ReplyThe armor and weapons are ugly as sin, but the raid encounters themselves are an absolute blast. Honestly the only issue is that contest is too hard and then normal is easy af. They really just need to find a middle. I love the mechanics but it's just too easy when it comes to damage phases
-
5 Repliesi hope they make more raid like this , tutorial raids like dsc and vog are boring after 1 week
-
14 RepliesDSC was not an original raid. No encounter required participation from anymore than 3 people. I know that because I've done the whole raid with only 3 total people. Each encounter used ideas from previous raids. It's not more or less unique than VotD because Bungo consistently reuses gameplay elements in all of its activities. You not liking VotD is fine, opinions are unique, but opinions aren't facts and you're reaching hella hard to make a point. That's why your post has more downvotes than upvotes.

Opening encounter is painfully boring 1st encounter (acquisition) is excellent because it requires almost full team participation. 2nd encounter (caretaker) was frustrating on contest but easy af on normal. Would be better without health gating. 3rd encounter (upended) is chaotic but once you get the spawn locations down it becomes easy. 4th encounter (rhulk) is long but pretty fun.

Honestly this is one of the funnest raids I've ever done and it finally felt like you couldn't be lazy sure you didn't need all 6 players outside of third encounter but even ad clearing felt important. In other raids you didn't really need ad clearer except a few rare cases but in here ad clearing is very important and is essentially a full on role
-
1 ReplyI think the raid is good, and my opinion is more important than anyone else’s. So, you’re wrong.
Got to drop a #satire. You know this community.
4 RepliesAnd so is destiny fanbois Viva la revolution
-
1 ReplyHow dare you have an opinion different to mine, now we are honour-bound to exchange jibes about our mothers. Smh my head I cant believe you've done this

Edited by RingersCheckmate: 3/8/2022 8:54:57 PMI think vow is very fun, from rhulks crit spots to the caretaker stuns. The mechanics of the third and first encounter worked fluidly for my time, wipes were due to time and deaths. Not mechanics. For the first time in a destiny raid, the boss himself in rhulk is actually a threat. Not mechanically, but just as something you have to avoid in the sandbox. Deepstone was great. Perfect isn't a word I'd use.

2 RepliesI think it’s more that people don’t understand how to communicate yet. It is a skill and it’s one destiny haven’t truly required. Let’s take the artifact encounter as an example. Both glyph keepers die and one person calls out their symbols while the other calls the similar one and that’s it, just repeat that each set, not much actually needs to be said but people don’t really understand this yet. I think once people get a better grasp on the glyphs and how to call them out efficiently views on the raid will shift more towards its a lot of fun. Plus this will help grow raiders into stronger players that can communicate more efficiently Great mix of mechanics and action with room to improve everywhere, fantastic growth as a raid.

2 RepliesI think mechanically ok it's kind of cool, but the over all accessibility issues the raid poses is kind of a bit much. People with legit issues will be locked out of the raid, or you might have to schedule your heavy comm use around family's sleep time. I can't be calling out symbols at 10pm when wifey is in bed so does that mean I can't raid???????????? Frankly, this whole DLC has been lack luster; I'll beat the raid once and probably will find other ways to get to pin cap without these pinnacles. Having Caretaker be such a bully day one but a complete paper push over the next day is a little insulting too. Balance it out; either make it so it's not a massive DPS check or that people can skip floor two and three and go right to last stand because titan bonk builds or incorrectly coded weapons exist.

Normally I agree with you on stuff but Vow is phenomenal
