Pinnacle drop protection needs to be implemented.
Pinnacle drop protection is way overdue. It SUCKS to have a pinnacle drop in the same slot twice in a row. Especially when other slots are 6-8 light levels BELOW that one.
Some of us have limited time which makes this situation even worse.
You play more?
You should level faster for sure.
But you should NEVER be held back from increasing your light level because of bad RNG. Leveling grind is not content.
Please respect our time.

Just stop caring. It's extremely freeing. Do the pinnacles you want. I'm stopping all 3 core activity +1s. Crucible and Gambit are disgusting and strikes are beyond mundane at this point. I'd honestly rather do 50 bounties leisurely to get another level on my power than suffer through that garbage. It was evident 2 days into witch queen that it was just going to be more of the same. I'm just thrilled I was able to cheese the throne world rep before they patched it.

I felt this I play a lot though but each time I complete my pinnacles it would give it to me in the same slot twice for at least 3 weeks and I'm not even kidding. It's very annoying none the less same way how getting deepsight for the exotic glaive quests is worse than getting 1k voices right now.

Getting powerful drops (including prime engrams) in between pinnacles drastically reduce the chance of getting equal light pinnacle drops. NEVER do more than 1 pinnacle activity in a row if that pinnacle increased your overall light. Save doe pinnacle until the very end since it always grants a weapon and goe right before that. If you level up incorrectly then it’s not uncommon to get the same slot multiple times at equal or less than equipped light multiple times.

Especially if you have crap luck. I'm sure there are casual games out there if you have limited time and need all the loot fast. Maybe a game with loot trading? I usually have no issues leveling up in a timely manner playing casually. Have you checked a guide if you need to level up effectively?

I’d love the option to accept the decryption or get 10 upgrade modules. For example, I decrypt the pinnacle but it’s a duplicate pair of boots that are the same level as what I have equipped. In that case, give me 10 upgrade modules (or cores, whatever).

This is the late game grind… unfortunately it will never change because people come back to get that additional light even if they didn’t get the additional light the last time they were on. Once people hit the cap that’s basically the end of the experience for majority of players and only the more hardcore players continue like they never hit the cap

2 RepliesWith how many pinnacle drops there are now I don’t think it’s an issue. You can get 4 pinnacle drops in about an hour. 3 pvp games, 3 strikes, and 3 gambit matches can be done in about an hour and you’ll get the clan xp pinnacle drop from doing all that. Season is only a couple weeks old. Kinda early to start worrying about getting to the pinnacle cap.

2 RepliesIdk if it'll work for you but I've tested and actually got decent results with doing a pinnacle a day. I use to go in and do 3-4 pinnacles a day just to have them doup on me.. So i started doing one a day and surprisingly enough it improved my drops quite a bit..

6 RepliesThis is literally my number one complaint with the game. I'd put up with everything else if this were changed. At one point, I got four pinnacle drops in a row that were all arms. That's FOUR pinnacle drops and my overall power level went up ONE. It's ridiculous and done intentionally to keep players grinding. They will never fix it because they think their players are mindless drones who will run activities like they are in a skinner box. And the sad thing is, they're right.

If you have slots 6 to 8 power below then you're better off blue farming for a while, then your pinnacles will make more of a difference.

A lot of the destiny slot machines need some bad luck protection systems that simply avoid duplicate or wasteful drops for upgrades Destiny devs lean heavily into massive crafting grinds as the offset instead of adding bad luck slot protection This is due to the devs caring about cash shop metrics more than a satisfying gameplay experience

For example, during last season, I was starving for pinnacle/powerful kinetic drops when I was bombarded with energy slot drops across every character on multiple PVE activities for months. Clearly some slots are weighted more favorably than others. I am guessing they are resorting to some kind of RNG weight manipulations to prolong the grind. You won't get any bad luck protection if they are deliberately manipulating the RNG.

I agree that there needs to be some protection for dupes. I think a better solution for pinnacle drops would be to offer 2 chests at the end of an activity. 1 chest for a weapon slot and the second for an armour slot. At least give us that choice.
