All the puzzles and symbols make it so annoying and tedious for every run. I won’t be touching this raid once I finish it for the first time. Make raids fun again, make it focused on gameplay, gunplay and builds. All these mechanics cause there to be so many bugs and inconsistencies with getting bosses to damage phases.
I understand wanting to make an activity more than just a strike where there’s hordes, but I feel like there has to be a better way than relying on a set of symbols for an entire raid. Finishing an encounter felt rewarding not because of the importance of a boss or storyline but rather because I was so fed up with the mechanics. This excitement was short lived once I walked into the next room with the same set of symbols.
I like a challenge, make it hard. But testing my short term memory and how long my teammates will stick around doesn’t fulfill the excitement we had going into it. All raids usually have some kind of puzzle mechanic and it works—but this raid really over did it in my eyes.
I’m sure it will eventually sort itself out but goodness gracious is it annoying and inconsistent.
Edit: for everyone saying to get good and learn the mechanics, I’ve said that they aren’t HARD mechanics. I’m pointing out how shallow they are, annoying and inconsistent they feel. There should be more than pick up symbols, put them in the totems.

If your a nerd you would like the dumb boring mechanics . I only play the final boss check points less crap to wade through . Bungie could make them so fun and enjoyable for all but for some reason they pay someone to make them clunky weird heavy strang mechanics that are just annoying and boring.. Its the bungo way the more they can junk out a raid with heavy mechanics the better. there trying to get people to quit playing there game. Glad to see destiny coming to a end next year to finish it off for good.

The raid is super easy but horrible , the mechanics suck all the fun out of the raid NOBODY wants random symbols with random names testing your memory while being shot at FOR THE ENTIRE RAID THIS BECOMES AMAZINGLY TEDIOUS . The raid should not be a memory game ! What it should be is fun and rewarding and should leave you with a feeling of accomplishment and not with a feeling that says thank god that's over with just to have to do it again in the next room, the entire raid only has one mechanic and its trash.

I think Deep stone was perfect. This raid is a travesty. Still going to play it but don't like it.

Edited by gta5igrac: 3/7/2022 1:33:02 AMsure, we need 10-20 extra seconds before obeliks fill up, without ads shooting of course. few seconds so 1 player can shoot all 3 symbols on 1 obeliks, that's how it was designed either way. but in truth champions are way too limiting for loadouts along with the grindfest needed for master raid. master is worse than a GM, one shot normal ads in endless waves in a closed room with no cover 30-20 light under. same problem in corrupted, hollowed lair and lightblade strikes. while infinite invis hunter can works here, this is impossible in master raids because you got mechanichs to complete. master raids also provide absolutely no rewards in the current sandbox. timelost/adept weapons are worse, we got weapon crafting for godroll weapons now. Artifice armor is from master dungeon, which had the master difficulty toned waaaaaaaay down from master raids, easier to manage champions in them, mucch more fun. i don't mind champions, but i'm always the div guy soooooo, still limiting in loadouts, because there's no great weapons against overloads than div. the stun is worse on any other weapons. -remove/replace champions in all raids -lower required light level for master raids honestly master version of grasp of avarice was done correctly and prestige version was harder but more fun on leviathan raids. is there a similar game or a destiny killer game that's better? (maybe that game also have cool raids?) starting to see how bungie ruins the game with grindfests.

Most people are not willing to teach this to new players they want you to kwtd before joining. Also why does Bungie keep going with these 2 boss raids. Not feeling it they should just go back to the 4 boss raids like last wish. They could have easily added another 2 unique bosses to this raid but rather have us do more puzzle mechanics instead.

Yep yep yep. This entire raid is as bad as Crown of Sorrow's first room. Tedious and long AF. I will admit, that learning the mechanincs threw me through a loop at first, but now I think I get it. Last Wish, Garden and DSC were manageble. Vault is somewhat easy, but this... this is a new breed. If I get what I want from this new raid, I will never touch it again, and I honestly dont think I will go into it even once at all.

As someone who played vog the raid system is bad but the dungeon system is actually good and not that annoying. D1 raids were good and was not that annoying. But in destiny 2 it's like pick up the operator buff then the scanner locates the spots the operator hits. It's just annoying.

The raid isn't hard but its incredibly boring using the same main mechanic over and over for its entirety not to mention the long drawn out encounters that are intentionally padded to make the raid seem longer than it actually would be if you cut out all the unnecessary BS like the taxi part right at the beginning. Its like Bungie forgot they are developing a first person shooter and somehow winded up thinking they are developing some first person mahjong game.

6 RepliesI was talking with one of my buddies prior to this raid going live and mentioned that I was concerned it was going to be a repeat of Last Wish with convoluted puzzles involving symbols. I hate being right. I returned to D2 after taking 2 years off. Was hoping this raid would be unique.

28 RepliesWhy does this seem to be a popular opinion This has always been what raids are at their core, the thing that differentiates them from dungeons and strikes is hard mechanics. If you want a gunplay focused buildcrafting piece of endgame level content, go do grandmaster nightfalls. The point of raids is mechanics and communication.

It should be about the fights themselves and the challenge of skill and your builds, not who can play the best possible game of memory while mowing down ads and jumping/racing -blam!-.

Also better if the mechanics have a good lore reasoning/explanation behind them which there doesn't seem to be much of in this raid. Like reusing the relic from VOG, wtf is that doesn't make a ton of sense lorewise. I'll probably attempt it a few times and see if it's any fun for myself but this is alot of the reason I don't raid much at all. Other being difficulty of finding a good group...

I’d agree so many symbols is just not fun for me. Even if you use symbols can’t you use something that’s easier like pulse rifle, SMG, hand cannon etc that are easily identifiable by ordinary human. I ain’t going to memorize those symbols just to play this raid

8 RepliesToo many symbols, too many of them look alike, each time you add a new player on the team they have to be using the same naming system so that has to be addressed… 16 symbols to memorize and have callouts for in the last wish. 27 to memorize in VotD. 23 hive symbols with similar shapes (too many look like a “turret” or “star”) I hope future content doesn’t go too far down this rabbit hole. It could turn the game tedious and boring.
