So, in the lore for the Warlock Bond, Savathûn speaks to the Witness, saying “my acquisition of the Light is delightful proof of an existence higher even than yours” which can only be interpreted as proof that the Witness is NOT the Darkness itself AND that the Witness is NOT The Winnower. The Witness is just another pawn of the TRUE Darkness. I was right.
10 RepliesNot a pawn of the Winnower. The Winnower does not have pawns. It's unbiased and does not support the outright end of life and death.

1 ReplyPerhaps the Darkness doesn’t actually have a will, but the Witness is a vessel through which the power of the Darkness flows. Not a sliver of power, like what was granted to the Hive, but on an unimaginable scale. Is it the entirety of the Darkness he commands, or he himself is limited in how much power he can wield? Perhaps to wield any more of the Darkness he would need to abandon any semblance of a physical form, but then would become indistinguishable from the Darkness itself, loosing his sense of self. No plan, no visions, he would just be. The Witness is so powerful and so arrogant he presumed to speak for the Darkness. But that’s like you or I speaking for a hurricane simply because we can harness hydro-electric power. I dunno, that’s my working theory at the moment.

1 ReplyEdited by OhtheHugeManity5: 3/7/2022 11:46:40 AMWrong. It would be more accurate to say that the Darkness is the pawn of the Witness. This much is stated several times in the campaign. Darkness is just a force, a power. The Witness mastered it and established the force that is responsible for all of this. As best we know the Winnower is just a metaphor.

4 RepliesDark and Light are just cosmic power. Which would make the Witness the pawn of the Winnower. Close but no cigar!

16 RepliesEdited by Shammy: 3/6/2022 1:59:00 AMWait, who thought The Witness created the Darkness? Leaks revealed he was once mortal and was blessed by the light. And that he knows there are multiple Travellers. Witness seems to have somewhat of a command of the Black Fleet, but I think he’s merely trying to please the Winnower by completing “The Final Shape” which is presumably ending everything.

6 RepliesThe Darkness and The Light are basically "Tools". There is no Right or Wrong. The Witness is able to wield The Darkness to its fullest and is described by Savathun as a, "being who wraps itself in Darkness and produces a WICKED SHAPE"

The Witness is just another pawn of the TRUE Darkness.
Nah the darkness is neutral, the witness is just wielding the darkness
