I'm not a great PvP player. I keep trying to play Glory, but I keep getting frustrated at how often I can't keep up with everyone else. I've been trying to obtain the catalyst for years but I can't even get to fabled. Seeing that blemish on my catalyst list has been a depressing sight for a long time. I'm at a point where I'm willing to purchase the catalyst if I was able to from Bungie. Could you please change the obtainment requirement so it's easier for weaker players to get?

Does Bungie even look at these threads?
-
Can we also change what the catalyst actually does…

I'm trash and I clawed my way to fabled 3, you can do it! My tips are don't be afraid to change your loadout if it's not working. If you lose twice in a row and feel tilted, take a break. Make sure you play at least 3 games a week to get the bonus rep. Freelance is your friend... mostly 😅 Good luck and keep trying, you will get there, and by trying you can only improve.

3 RepliesI’m in full agreement with this. I think it would be fine if you could get the Catalyst by playing regular PVP. Heck, I would actually be fine if you could get it while doing Comp as long as it wasn’t locked behind a rank or win. Just keep playing until you get it.

What is the requirement? I forget.
-
Survival is supposed to be skill based matchmaking, so you shouldn't have a hard time keeping up with people even if you're not good
-
I thought it was changed

4 RepliesWould be good if there were two options to obtain some of the catalysts. A PvP option and a PVE. That way, it won’t affect anyone. PvP mains can farm for it their way, PVE mains can farm for it their way. Player’s choice.

It wasn’t unlocking for me until I started completing some of the few remaining catalysts.

Mhe I don't play comp and I think it's fine

3 RepliesMIDA? But why? Guns been trash since D1. Have you not see the other scouts?

I definitely agree that the requirements should be changed. Every catalyst should have a choice on how it is obtained and completed, PVE or PVP. But I just wanted to offer some advice in case Bungie never changes it. I am a bad PVP player, but I obtained some rewards from the Glory playlist, such as the Recluse, Randy's Throwing Knife, and this catalyst. I did it by setting the expectation that I know I am not the best at competitive, I know I might not complete the objective, it's just a bonus if I get it, and I'm ok with that, so there is no point in getting frustrated. I simply tried my best, but still lost maybe 70% of my matches. But my goal wasn't to win. The three matches gave me a powerful drop, but you also get a bonus to Glory score by completing 3 matches a week. I just did 3 a week (in the solo queue after that was added) over the course of the whole season. Eventually, I got up to the rank where I obtained both guns and had a small chance for the catalyst to drop, which it did after 3-4 matches. Then I stopped. It's that simple. If someone like me can get it, then I believe it is obtainable by anyone with a sustained effort. I hope you get it.

2 RepliesOnly advice I can give is to ONLY play freelance, NEVER regular.

4 RepliesI actually feel you on this. I was lucky that I had a friend who happens to be a PVP god get it for me. The catalyst is not even that good, and for many (like myself) it is just a collection item. I hope it gets changed one day to "Win X rounds in Glory" or "5% chance at rank 0 and it increases per rank" instead of 5% starting at the 3k Glory mark. When I tried to get it myself I wished that whoever decided to put it there stubbed their pinky toe every single day of their life, to put it lightly. I despise PVP and I only go there out of obligation.

2 RepliesEdited by ExoBunnyGirl: 3/5/2022 12:01:45 PMNo offense but they really shouldn't change one of the only reasons to play comp because you can't kill someone in pvp as good as someone else. That's like me saying I'm not really good at raids so can 1k voices drop from strikes. Plus you don't have to play good or even win just play matches, let your teammates Carey you and have fun and it will drop. Then go into control or moment control when it's on and get the precision kills, done. If they remove all the stuff that comes from crucible for those who don't want to play it or aren't good at it then the crucible players have nothing to go for. I don't like strikes but I'll play them to get catalysts. Just suck it up for a few matches and wait for momentum control and there you go. Just don't take crucible serious and you'll have a better time. And expect it to be sweaty because it's PvP it's meant to be sweaty and those who aren't good are meant to be farmed by better players, but if you want the catalyst play the mode like we all do when it's something like gambit or strikes. Just saying you don't have to win or do well just play.

I got the same issue, but i decided to jump into the freelance glory and did at least three games a week, i got sort of lucky (and being carried by the other 2 teammates lol) at some point
