U all somehow made gambit even worse

Who's dim whitted idea was it to escalate the heavy spam by giving everyone heavy, like are u brain dead, then making the boss phase have immune phases, and then allow the losing team to spam invasions, like what!, gambit is a damn joke and even more of a irrelevant playlist than ever before, can y'all finally remove the invasion mechanic already and make a team vs team ad slaying race, hell add a random 1v1 teleport or something to a separate arena, that would benefit the winners team with instant super regeneration for like idk 30 seconds lets say, bcuz as gambit is right now, u are pushing more and more ppl away from that -blam!- hole, like doing my powerful and pinnacle for gambit is a chore enough as is, im sure once ppl get to the cap gambit won't even do touched a majority of ppl

  • The heavy spam isn't even the largest issue the mode has now. The problem is that any invader who gets 2 or more kills automatically heals the primeval past a hard invulnerability health gate. That is bad design. The first team not to score those 2 kills during the primeval phase literally auto-loses. And in reverse, as long as you keep getting those 2 ghally kills, you can literally derp around 70 motes behind and still win by holding the other team in their primeval phase for 15 minutes. We've gone from a game mode that had two primary issues (first invade being too polarizing and deciding 70-80% of games and exploit damage combos oneshotting the boss, COUGH HAMMER TITANS) to a game mode where literally nothing you do matters, because the whole match rides on the first invader who fails to secure 2 kills. Not to mention the spawn manipulation abuse against invaders is once again in full swing and so easy to pull off i've seen people PREFIRE the spawn of an invader with a Ghally as soon as he enters the portal (because they time it with the banking of motes). Add on top of that that BattlEye seems to start falling apart at this point (2 blatant hackers with infinite super and aimbot snipes in 27 gambit matches) and you have the recipe for an even worse experience than last year. Just to give a comparison, during Beyond Light on the big 40000 people LFG Discord there were constantly 1-3 groups looking for people for gambit. Now? That chat for the brand newly reworked mode has one person trying to find a shader farm group for over 2 hours with no replies. That's how dead the mode is with these changes. Watch your engagement timers with Gambit. I'd be surprised if you didn't see a massive drop this season. Maybe that'll be the justification for finally deleting my once favorite mode, maybe we'll finally revert to the Season 4 formula that actually worked (working a Heavy / Super economy against multiple rounds of Gambit, which, you know, was actually the titular strategic move, A GAMBIT). If i was in charge of redesigning Gambit i'd put these things in the development Queue immediately: - Back to the three round formula with increasing PvE difficulty. Three proper rounds, no sudden death nonsense - Handing out drops every round similar to how Trials works now. Not just rep, proper drops after each of 2/3 rounds, with an extra drop for the winners at match end to encourage fighting for comebacks - Super and Heavy once again becoming WAY more limited, turning them into a strategic resource, carrying over between rounds. I like the idea with a chest after each zone, but limit it to one player pickup - Primevals regenerating from invades should NOT reactivate health gates. Envoys automatically respawning due to a timer should not activate a health gate until you properly hit the next health gate on your primeval - Special Ammo being somewhat limited is also a good idea so i would keep the ammo crate collectible for the whole team, but change it from a purple to a green crate as soon as the first person has claimed it - Gambit Reward Engrams don't have the Gambit innate trait of Invader tracking. What is the point of being able to focus a Gambit Engram at Drifter, if that Gambit Weapon focused with mass resources at the Gambit Vendor does not gain the Gambit Trait because it wasn't a match-dropped drop? - RNG Shader and Memento drops are a nice idea but WAY too inconsistent to feel rewarding. Tie them to major ranks, or simply hand out 1 Shader token for each Gambit Reputation reset. Much fairer than a percentage drop chance after each match, reward dedication to the mode.

      • I've played a ton of gambit, have the Dredgen title. So far I'm fine with the amount of heavy available, if anything I'd like a little more. To me, the biggest disappoint was when they dropped Gambit Prime with its Gambit-specific equipment and perks. That sense of progression is completely lost now. The current mode is so hollow and dumbed down.

        The boss heath gating is the absolute worst idea. I never liked Gambit and they found a way to make it even worse. Just remove the pinnacle from it and watch nobody play it.

        • Heavy spam was something everyone worried about the instant we saw the changes, I was also worried about the flat 27% healing for the boss on [i]EACH[/i] invasion kill. They literally said they didn't want the invader to be so influential to the game then said that they'd be giving more than a quarter health back on each kill. Thats way too much, especially when both teams are in boss phase.

        • All they did was use the old gambit boss phase minus the damage well you had to stand in but flood it with heavy and invasions. I preferred how gambit was a nice quick round of bullshit and still progress why does anyone care about winning matches when it makes no difference to progress

          • Honestly just disabled heavy when invading. Invader can't use heavy and neither can the team. Only use are viable weapons are special and primary weapons

            • It's just -blam!- gambit-horn now. Non-stop rocket spam. And in their attempt to reduce the focus on invading, the only thing that matters in the entire game mode now is invading during the primeval phase. It's truly comical how badly and consistently they achieve the exact opposite of stated goals.

                  • No you guys just need to GITGUD this is the Luke Smith debacle all over.. you guys are going to keep crying and complaining until Gambit is no longer what it used to be much like our abilities and our Destiny 1 loadout transition to Destiny 2 release. You minority that won't even spend time playing and learning counters and defense are trying to change the rules of Gambit to give participation stars all around. PvP was butchered. Our abilities our butchered with long -blam!- timers. Our loadouts were butchered at launch. Stop trying to change everything if you're bad, just enjoy it and GitGud! You're not going to win all the time, it's supposed to be a thrilling tug-o-war. Not a.."LemmE InSta-Melt InstA-WiN".

Before prime evil phase have four 1v1 showdowns between players by randomly teleporting a player from each team into a separate arena. Each showdown won will grant a buff to your team during prime evil phase (either a damage buff or faster ability regen) The team with most loses during showdowns gets 1 invasion during prime evil phase and if it’s even at 2-2 then both teams can invade once.

                    • They sure did. We can the amount the primeval heels from invader. Problem solved. Gambit should be a quicker game than the other activities. It should have a flow and that just destroys it and almost always makes it so you run the clock. I Hunter ult when I invade and the enemies primeval is almost dead then it’s got full health by the time I leave. It’s way too easy to drag the game out. At least that’s my opinion. I don’t mind the shielding and moving around to get envoys I think that adds dynamic to it, but it just takes too long. And something needs to be done about rocket launchers. That’s part of the reason it takes so long is it’s way too easy to just heal the primeval with a few rockets. That’s my opinion, I loved gambit because it was quick, I think adding to it is OK but it shouldn’t take so long to complete a match.

                    • I mean heavy is available for everyoneand me team based because you can choose to make sure everyone on your team gets it or just yourself. A nice change that could make it a bit fair is you can't hold more than 1 heavy ammo. So no reserves. This way heavy will be instant gratification against what's needed at the moment and ppl won't have alot when they invade. I think you just want a mode where there is no invasion and 2 teams just compete to see who can finish the tasks quicker. I can understand that. The other mode that you suggested also sounds nice where invasion plays a bigger role and maybe make it random like atheons teleport. Then it's either a 1v1 or both teleport at the same time against the other team.

                    • I actually like the heavy drops, although I’m still trying to figure out how this team we played last night had like 7 invades while we were damaging the boss We summoned first way ahead, and ended up losing because we had one invade during boss damage while they were able to invade nonstop My one clan mate thinks if you don’t invade at all before the boss you can use those invades during boss damage , not sure if that’s how it works I also don’t mind the boss immune phase, but I think the invade patterns need to be corrected

                        • That’s usually what happens when people whine, cry and complain over something that’s just a [i]little[/i] difficult for them to get around. This game will never change and PvP in any capacity will [u]always[/u] be mediocre at best simply because Bungie doesn’t listen to their community and when they do it usually results in them overdoing it. The biggest issue is the low tier rats who spam Gjallarhorn, heavy spawn is literally the only issue but it’ll take Bungie 6-8 months to fix it like it always does. Honestly at this point it’s the community’s fault as well because you have people here who would rather bump their K/D as if it was going on their Tinder bio or on a job application, so they’ll do nothing but spam the meta because using anything that takes some level of skill is just too taxing for their brain to handle. Gambit was fine as it was and the people who complained about it are just mad because they can’t handle actually dividing their attention between two objectives and actually [u]trying[/u] to win the match. The issues we deal with today are just as much the Community’s fault as it is Bungie’s, that’s just the truth.

                        • I am fine with the heavy ammo for all because for the most part everyone should have a tracking rocket like Eyes, Gally, or Truth, but all of the network BS that comes with Bungie on top of raid boss enemies, extreme primeval heal through invader kills, invader wall hacks/overshield, extended primeval health gated dps phases, and all sorts of hit reg issues make it a three and done for me. I don't care about the momento and once I hit pin cap I don't plan on playing it again. Takes too long for no payoff.
