So I’ve been having a bit of a problem playing this new expansion. All of the dialogue that plays while I progress through the campaign is the “new player” dialogue and not the veteran one.
I’ve been playing on the same hunter since the game launched in 2017, so it’s really annoying to miss out on conversations that are talking more in depth about the game I’ve been playing for over 5 years. Plus, it’s explaining characters I have seen for as long as I’ve been playing the series!
I think this happened because I played through the new light campaign through the kiosk in the tower? (I am a sucker for a cool looking emblem and I really liked the one you get for completing the storyline). I’m fearful that it’s pretty much messed up my dialogue forever. Anyone experience this same issue or know how to fix it?

Same issue here, ever since Witch Queen dropped I've been getting new light dialogue. I didn't even pick up the quest, just... did Season of the Lost and they forgot that I was there? I wish they'd just let us toggle the dialogue ourselves, for those that have either played through the old content or have done their homework it would be a great boon and I'm tired of being talked to like I was pulled out of the Cosmodrome yesterday.

I would like to know when Bungie will actually solve this problem. Veteran players (who imported a character from D1, or started playing in Red War), who completed the New Light quest, present in the Tower kiosk, never receive veteran dialogue again, they are always treated as New Light. This problem was detected in Beyond the Light, and today 1 year later, it still occurs!

1 ReplyUnfortunately, playing through the New Light campaign did adjust your play history to no longer reflect your veterancy status. At this time, it's a known issue, but there's no workaround for it. Bungie has not announced a fix for it, and as it's purely a cosmetic issue instead of a game-changing one, it's very possible that it's extremely low on the planed fixes. Until the issue is fixed, sadly, you'll not have any veteran dialog.

I have the exact same problem. I picked up the new light quest right before witch queen launched. I wanted to check it out and test some of my guardians looks in cutscene. Not only was it a lengthy quest that I couldn’t abandon but it also seemed to erase the veteran status of my guardian. I’ve been using the same guardian since vanilla Destiny 1, and have been on Destiny 2 since the OG launch. All my dialogue suggests I just started. It’s annoying and I hope they get it fixed real soon. It’s putting a (small) damper on my campaign play through. I wish I never picked that damn quest up.
