The blacks are more like grey and sdr isn't any better. It just looks horrible I've tried changing it all and it just looks bad

I have the same problem since witch queen, game looks terrible with HDR. I have the XBX and a LG C9 - has anyone got a fix they can suggest?

5 RepliesEdited by Refrigerator Jax: 2/22/2022 9:30:56 PMIn some/most places all my blacks are pure bright white If I turn to fast all blacks are pure bright white No matter what I adjust in game it does nothing. Its unplayable.

My lights and darks are fine, but something definitely seems different. Not sure if its my HDR or boomeritis coupled with new fights but some things seemed to look a bit.... off?
-
Destiny HDR was horrible before, full of "blackcrush", and you set your monitor/TV for that. Now that they fixed it, you need to change your TV/Monitor settings to go along the changes, cause it was probably very wrongly configured just to acomodate the bad HDR of before.
-
3 RepliesSame. I went to in game settings brightness and the option below it turn upto 1700. I’ve never heard of it before but it worked perfect. Previously the throne world looked bland boring lack of colour. Hope it helps.

Isn't just hdr... the whole game looks weird.
-
Yeah, HDR was just fine before this update. Turned off HDR and turned brightness to 0. Hope they fix it soon.
-
Mine was always terrible

2 RepliesYep. PS5 lg cx 65 oled here. HDR is ABYSMAL. Every other game is great, TV itself is great, professionally calibrated so I know what I'm doing. The black crush level is abysmal. Everything too bright. Setting black level to zero is ALMOST right in the bright areas but the shadow in darkness is ridiculous. This isn't an adjust your TV issue as people keep saying. This is something within the game.

This sucks ! The HDR fix was one of the things I was most excited about.
-
3 RepliesOn ps5 for me changing mods has become very stiff and laggy, almost back to last gen speed
-
This problem again really, geez Bungie really can’t ship anything without breaking other thing again
-
Yep! So pissed about the hdr, it took us 30 minutes before we could even start because we were trying to figure out how to fix it. Finally just turned off hdr in destiny. It seems to be an issue with oleds? I have 2 oled tvs and 2 ps5s and both were messed up, only on witch queen, looked perfect the day before update, and trying any other game the hdr looks fine. Actually, even in the menu to adjust hdr brightness in destiny the black looks good, the second it goes back to the game it looks completely screwed up. Clan mate has oled and ps5 and his is jacked as well. Please fix bungie. As I said just have hdr turned off in destiny and it's ok. Also noticing game takes slightly longer to load everything after update, not happy about that but it's not horrible.
-
Yeah it happened to me (I’m on ps4). To fix it just turn off the hdr in your game settings. Hopefully they fix this in their next round of hotfixes
-
Good, I thought it was just me.
-
1 ReplyNope it is finally working on my ps5
-
7 RepliesThey fixed it so that HDR actually functions correctly. Adjust your TV or monitor brightness and contrast settings. They were probably way off normal to counter the previously poor HDR settings in game. I toned down the brightness on my TV and it's beautiful. Better than it ever was.
-
1 ReplyMy game keeps getting visual bugs in GOA and literally everywhere of WQ, it's dark then BAM! bright
-
Yeah my brightness/darkness contrast got completely messed up and it’s been beyond irritating trying to fix
-
Literally all of my settings got reverted to default on the update and I can't get them back to how I had them. I'll just have to get used to it I guess.
-
Yeah , mine needs washing. And a bit of Grecian 2000.
-
5 RepliesYeah, to fix it you have to go to settings > Video > Press Square to Reset To Defaults. This will turn off HDR but you can readjust it and it’ll be fixed.

Yes. I'm on Xbox One X and the HDR was terrible. I shut it down, cleaned the Caches, powered it off completely (press and Hold the Xbox button after it's unplugged to drain any residual charge), let ti sit for 5 minutes and then powered it back up. It's better, but it's still laggy compared to D2 pre-WQ. After about 3 hours of playing, it was lagging very badly so I just gave up for the night.

For everyone of us it is way tot bright! Eventhough our tv's support a 1000 nits. Only inside it looks ok.

turned off HDR and its fine
