Black Screen with Sound
Yesterday Destiny 2 worked just fine. Today after I dl the update, on launch I get a black screen, but I can hear the sound of intro + the cursor moving on the characters.
Restarted the PC, checked the graphic drivers to be up to date ....checking now on steam files. Still, anyone else having the same problem after the lastest update ??

If you paid for the pre-order or anything charge it back and then go play something else for a month or so Bungle might have got their useless -blam!- together by then. Every season something breaks and every season they just shrug and go up yours.....really shitty way to operate hope Sony will kick their arses over this and we might get a competent dev team .

Same here worked fine last night after downloading and now today not even playable! ...After clicking on Destiny 2 to play the game it shows the starting up "Destiny 2 and Symbol" picture then boots me back out to the Xbox home screen without an error!!! I just payed over $100 for this game and can't play it, when does the Boooloneee Stop🤬....Major Issue Bungie Support!!! Reset/Clear/Reinstall/etc...was done and still can't play, say's game takes too long to start now and or just boots me out at 1st loading image back to Xbox home! ...BUNGIE!!!

I also managed to get into orbit via hitting enter a few times and selecting a character... any insights/workarounds? I cant actually play because i only see scraps of random text but the game itself seems ok

I am having this same issue, but behavior is slightly different, if this is helpful. I am running the game on PC, RX580 (all updates applied), game installed through XBOX App (not steam), Windows 11 (all updates applied). When I launch the game, it is black screen that will sit forever. If I click the mouse button, suddenly I can hear music, and it appears as if the game has minimized to a tiny box in the task bar. I can't enlarge it. For some reason yesterday, I was able to launch the game normally once and played everything just fine. Today, back to just a black screen and hearing music every time I launch. If I keep doing this over and over, maybe it will work once?

3 RepliesThe game simply does not display any screen after launching it from Steam. If I try to "stop" the game, it doesn't stop. And the Steam dashboard says the game is "running", and counting the hours... I followed up with some checks: - Verified the integrity of the files (Steam) and made a new test; Same problem; - Removed the update, uninstalled the game and re-downloaded it; Same problem; - I tested other games, in order to verify if the problem is in Steam or Destiny 2; The problem is in Destiny 2; Below, the configuration of my gaming notebook: . DELL Inspiron 7559 (DELL G3); . Windows 10 Home (21H2); . No OS updates pending; . NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (4GB DDR5); . 16 GB RAM; . No alternate FAN or Video Card drivers installed; . Antivirus disabled; I consider this a lack of respect for the player/consumer. I fully understand that "unforeseen situations" can occur in a release/update of a major game like Destiny 2. However, the scope and way in which such issues are being handled... It's disappointing. Seeing the content running in its pre-release videos (whether on XBOX, PS4, PS5 or PC's) makes us believe that the game is perfect, in its full playability and entertainment... When, in fact, the situation is quite different: Treatment and solutions to problems are given in a palliative way, only when they take on large proportions. I would like a practical and direct answer as to the solution for my case. Thanks.

1 ReplyI had the same issue. I uninstalled, restarted my pc, reinstalled, verified my files, and then launched. I got the same black screen with no sound, but when I clicked my mouse the window disappeared and I was back on my desk top. A couple seconds later the window reopened and I was on the launch screen. No idea, man.

7 RepliesI was able to get through the queue on Win7 despite the black splash screen and have additional info to report, as well as screenshots. If you want to try this, hit Enter on the black splash screen and wait through the queue. You will eventually be delivered to a char select screen. Be aware, though; this won't be a functional game. Most of the game overlay is not working, but the background is. The mouse cursor is not drawn but the mouse is active and allows navigation, usually by audio cues. This album shows the four main areas I was able to access (character select, orbit, character inspection, and settings). https://imgur.com/a/EyWgw6Q Unfortuantely, from orbit while I could get to the destinations menu it was so badly broken and with minimal audio cues that I wasn't able to load into any destination to see if anything could be played. If anyone else tries, that might help the testing Hopefully these screenshots and report may help the teams investigating this issue.

Black screen i hear into music. i hear cursor moving over menus. i get to character select menu just my toon standing there... no visible menus. i guessed my way to where i hear menu highlight and then i hear pop-ups..(wonder what they said..) and then the usual broke cut-scene with cliping audio but now no stuttering visuals. im am slightly miffed about this. esp after the failure with season of the lost issues where i lost a couple weeks of playtime. i hope this gets fixed soon.l

1 ReplyHoly epilepsy warning, Batman! I'm having the same issue. Most menus are dark with some random letters floating about, others flash violently black and white, others are just broken panes of color. When season of the lost broke the game it took them THREE WEEKS to fix, so I guess I'll go lay down.

Its not even listed in the Witch Queen Known Issues thread as of now. This will become the same -blam!- as last time, it will be the absolutely last thing they adress. Expect to wait more than a month again. This is so ridiculous, i dont find words for this. I dont 😭😭😭 Plugged the lame PS4 in right now, wait 5 hours for the Update to finish so that i can at least walk around in the Throne World a little bit - because everything else doesnt work there (will not buy Witch Queen on console in addition to PC and cant play online because the Sony -blam!- want me to throw my money away for that).

same here. Steam files verified, restarted, latest Nvidia driver, monitor unplugged re-plugged,alt enter windowed mode checked, graphics optimized with Nvidia Experience, no dice. Win 7 GeForce 980ti Intel i7-4790 16GB RAM I hoped so much this will not happen again, after the 3 weeks missed out at last season's start :(

1 ReplyI am also experiencing this issue on my account. My SO is too. Both running Windows 7, nVidia cards, hardware more than capable. Game ran perfect yesterday. Music is nice. I had hoped it might register keyboard input, but no dice with the usual Enter or Esc as the interaction options on the presumed splash screen. Alt+Enter does not resolve it.

Win 7 I have the issue. Black screen instead of logo, no menus. The character selection screen tells me to [url=https://i.imgur.com/denVCut.jpg]-blam!- Up[/url]. Launched the game anyway but instead of JUST the usual 3fps cutscenes, I have a strange screen (the 3fps is still playing) where letters w y I sys k is flashing. I pressed F1 bright screen with no buttons.

Same exact issue man... Tried everything that's been mentioned and still black screen. Bunch of my friends playing right now, but I've literally never had a single successful DLC launch for Destiny so I kinda expected this lol.

Same here, black screen problem at start. Win7x64, driver 445.75 (but I also tryed the newest 473.04), clearing Steam download cache does not work.
