Why are we supposed to hate Savathun again ?
I have never went into an expansion with that question on why we are pursuing the expansion antagonist, but a day before witch queen I have no animosity toward Savathun
She stole the Light? ,why do I care , she hasn't threatened me or humanity with it
She kidnapped Osiris?, morally ambiguous action, but she used Osiris to assemble allies against the darkness,and returned him when she was done with him
She cursed the Dreaming city, this is the closest I can get to a motive to go after her , but will killing her break the curse , we don't know,only she does
I don't see her has an enemy, I see her has an unlikely ally against the darkness ,and I am supposed to kill her ,ok I guess
Please prove me wrong and give me a reason to hate her

She basically orchestrated most of the bad stuff that has happened since the conclusion of the red war. The endless night and tricking Lakshmi into releasing the vex inside the city walls is a good recent example. I believe she was also involved in corrupting Uldren which ultimately lead to the death of Cayde-6. Not to mention lying to all of us using osiris's face and obtaining literally ALL of the tower and vanguard archives and information makes her extremely dangerous as an enemy. She also was responsible for a bunch of guardians being killed in experiments with void light as revealed in the strike from Titan back before the pyramids showed up. I'm also wondering about the attempt on zavala's life a while back- that may have been her as well, though I'm not sure on that part. So...lots of reasons to label her an enemy!

If there’s a story then this game sucks at telling it. P.S. If you have to pull up a YouTuber that does “lore” then you have failed storytelling in an live service game. #VaultDCV

Tried destroying the City with the Endless Night. Not sure how you forgot that. Since it just happened. I’m pretty sure someone who wants to destroy you and your entire civilization is an enemy. Y’all making a lot of effort to play dumb.

4 RepliesOryx was the one who cursed the Dreaming City - Savathun just took over We are in a state of game where the Hero and Villains are a matter of perspective. The Vanguard haven't really been very "hero" like considering they've been conducting genocide across the system when Zavala swears that his goal is just to protect the last city. We've taken out an entire bloodline of Hive who's only crime was the expansion and survival of their race. So, the true question is; do we hate Savathun because she is in actuality, the hero and we are the villain? Or because every villain is the hero in their own mind?

Maybe it won't end with her death. Also wondering whether our characters will be given a choice which has lasting concequences - would be interesting if Bungie gives us the power over whether we kill her and thus has to fight the darkness alone, making things harder for ourselves, or we become allies with her and we fight the darkness together. They can put that choice into the players's hands and decide how things progress from which most players' choose. A choice with true concequences this time compared to the Drifter choice that had none.

Because some Guardians went and no knock warranted her ship on Mars and started blasting when they saw something they didn't like. Now they're invading her mind and attempting a genocide because they are claiming equal rights. The Lucent Hive just want to live in peace, and Guardians are using the new lap dogs they've conquered as pawns to exterminate the "monsters". Guardians are doing exactly what the Hive have been doing. The roles have been reversed. Look in the mirror.

Destiny writers consistently try to create these clumsy “plot twists” and they never pan out in any meaningful way. Remember all the mystery around Drifter when he first appeared and the man with the gun who was supposed to terrorize everyone? There is so much potential for a really great story but they never resolve all the interesting rabbit trails. Reminds me of that tv show “Lost” which did the same thing.

Cayde, but they did a poor job of making that clear and I definitely don't like Uldren enough to resent her for messing with his mind in the first place.

1 ReplyI don't think the story has been wanting us to "hate" Savathun. She's responsible for Cayde's death, yes, but everything she did after that was for her own benefit, and along the way she was able to set up the pieces of her game exactly how she wanted them. And now, her shackles are off. Nothing she did was out of hate, spite, or anything else so...simple. They were purely for the progression of her long term goals. We are supposed to recognize her as a threat, partly because of what she has done, but also because of what she can and will do now that her worm is gone. And think for a second. Do you really think Savathun wants us around if we even have the slightest amount of potential to interfere with her future plans? Nope. I suspect that in Witch Queen we are simply side characters in Savathun's story she needs to remove in order to further her plans, whatever they are.

Well let's start with the obvious, she's responsible for the current taken, who are responsible for a whole host of problems. She stole the light, which is, you know, incredibly powerful and could be world ending for humanity. She cursed the dreaming city. She's literally the hive god of deception, you know, the race who's main pastime is genocide.

That's it. Don't care about the light, but you don't get to go from psychopathic god-like genocidal entity to -nah it's cool what you did was morally ambiguous- best friend in a day. Cut off another head of the Hive. They die by their own logic and zealot religious views. Now, a friendly Krill population, sure. Screw the Hive.

Yes....Oryx I agreed. Why are we killing lost fallen again? Everyone hates the vex! Cabal’s just want territory and glory. Guardians are already dark in nature. Look at the warlords. We kill each other for sport in an arena. Create weapons of sorrow. Traveller is who exactly to me? Last I check I didn’t ask to be reborn or a weapon but seems the vanguard wants nothing more for me to kill whoever they point a finger to. I guess the traveller is my “worm”

Her actions led to Cayde’s death, she let Vex get into the city and kill people, killed a bunch of inept guardians & held Osiris hostage
