Credit Resets
Good afternoon,
We have performed what we hope to be our last round of Credit Resets for accounts using the Challenge Reset exploit.
From this point on, we expect our automatic system to promptly suspend accounts which use this exploit, minimizing the ill-gotten gain to a degree that we do not feel that we need to apply a reset on top of this.
Note that our automated system will not be performing resets. That is a responsibility that we prefer to keep in the hands of living beings.
[b]Regarding Disputes[/b]
A "Double or Nothing" dispute thread will be created if it proves necessary and investigation time is available. However, we are once again using the same criteria as our last two resets, and investigations following those did not uncover a single false positive (just a lot of "little brothers".)
As such, we have a very high degree of confidence that these resets were correctly targeted, and our investigation effort will be reduced this time through.
[b]FAQ[/b]
No, we did not and are not going to ban anyone for "farming" any of the following:
- Gruntpocalypse (or Score Attack in general)
- Target Locators
- Demon/Flawless Cowboy
- "Full Party" Boosting
No, isolated cases of network disconnects will not have caused you to be reset.
No, you are not going to be reset in the future because your internet connection occasionally drops.
No, we cannot undo a reset because a hacker/little brother/malevolent alternate personality actually did the boosting, much to your dismay.
No, we cannot reset your Commendations as well.
And sorry, but no, we cannot speak to topics unrelated to Credit Resets within this thread.

i find it funny how i have only done gruntpocalypse for most of my 2 days playing this game and yet i get reset! for what? it ses that thy will not reset people for only doing gruntpocalypse when thats pretty much all i do... why de rank me just because i have alot of credits. this has put me of halo now when it was the only game i played.

You caught me. Good job. Glad to see that people actually get punished for boosting unlike in other game, say Modern Warfare 2. I do have one question? If there a criteria for how long you get "credit gain" banned. I got 2 weeks, just wondering if that is the standard?

Hello, I believe there has been a mistake. I was playing Halo Reach on forge when I got a notification, saying that I was banned for 2 weeks and can not earn credits. I have never earned credits illegally. Sometimes I would let my 13 year old cousin play, but I find it hard to believe that he would boost on my account. i never cheated i got banned for to weeks on my last account becuse i was cheating so i stoped i didnt wanna get banned again so i made a new account and i made it to lt grade 1 i was playing firefight for the rest of the challenges the all my -blam!- went down to rec wtf... the only thing i did was commendation boost this is bull and now i get banned i didnt cheat and i lag out of games most of the time i mostly play mlg cusoms idk im going to black op if this is not fixed :{ i miss h2

My credits just got reset and I got a 2 week credit ban. But I never cheated. It says your allowed to use the target locator so how come I was reset.. Im only a captain grade 3, I worked so hard and to see my armor all disappear made me go crazy what do I do I!!!

I just got to Captain yesterday and I got reset.. I don't know why, I've never exploited a challenge reset? (I'm not good with computers.)Yesterday though my router started to mess up because my dad was trying to fix it apparently it started disconnecting and reconnecting the internet throughout the house, but I was in my room just playing Firefight and I saw my challenge wasn't going away and I kept logging off and on..I told my dad and he stopped messing with the routerso I just continued playing. The problem continued,resetting the router didn't seem to work. I went to campaign to see if it would go away and it didn't..this happened two days in a row after i got back from school. Anway.. I'm not sure if this is a believable explanation for you guys at Bungie but I just decided it's worth a try. I did figure out what was going on though because I got onto Bungie.net today and saw this thread about boosting....Will i stay reset?

I find it ridiculous that bungie leaves the banning up to a computer. They think they're Gods because they can make a great game. I can't wait for their next game to fail, considering that it is gonna have nothing to do with halo.

I don't know if this sounds unreasonable or not, seeing as we cheated our way to credits and levels. However we know you can't reset commendations. However would it be possible to be given the credits we gains from the commendations back? I just figured because we proved we did those legitimately. However its also what we get for cheating in the first place I suppose.

I am upset that i got reset for boosting. I am not outraged but i wish i could have gotten a warning or an xp ban before getting reset. it would have been more fair, also i became a lt. colonel before i even started boosting so you could have taken away all my existing credits rather than resetting my account. i wish you could do something to ease my pain or not have a rank so low,i believe an xp ban for 2 weeks and a reset is a little harsh, sincerely, a dedicated but frustrated halo gamer :) [Edited on 10.28.2010 3:41 PM PDT]

I think Ferrex and Bungie can appreciate the delicious irony here. People who have done this and who have been reset, do not get their commendations reset, so effectively, daily challenges become their 'bread and butter' as it were for earning credits - the exact same thing that they exploited in the first place ...

ok i have been banned for so called boosting for 2 weeks and i had read the rules and i found that somewhere along the line i was banned for badd internet connecting and i sould not be and this si becuse my internet cable was bit from my dog and it had keep diconecting me so plz do something about this thank you
