I think warlocks having crazy powerful skills is justified

Title. As a Titan main, I don’t have any issues with warlock new void kit though I admit it’s mainly due to lore reasons. Warlocks are supposed to be the best at light channeling. However, if bungie is keeping to this as it seems to be the case, then they need to lean harder into the aspects of titans being tanky melee types and hunters being agile marksmen.

    • I have zero issue with the obvious power increase warlocks are getting. (I play all 3 but i'm a hunter main generally speaking.) In fact i'm happy for them because Warlocks from my memory have never really had a place in pve that was fun. D1 locks were just "if we all wipe you're insurance." and in D2 they're basically well or nothing. So them having a finally powerful offensive class in pve is good. I'm also happy Titans have finally taken a step towards being a tanky class. It's the fantasy that I care the most about and they've never really had that. It's always been "I have bubble/shield so I take no damage." Or they take damage like the rest of us. Wether or not they will be tanky enough remains to be seen. My issue is specifically with Hunters. As I understood they've always been seen as "the damage" class. We've gotten descriptors like being mobile/quick but I don't think that's ever really been leaned into. I'm most excited for Arc Hunter's rework because the descriptor there was indeed speed. So perhaps Hunters will finally live up to their name sake there. But yeah "damage" isn't a very good role when everyone can do it. Hunters have never even had the highest damage super either. Maybe in D1 with hawk but not in D2. Void hunter is meant to be the support version of Hunter. I would've thought CC would've been the way for Hunter to support in a thematic sense but Stasis hunter does that. My problem is Hunter's void rework seems to try and lean back into the damage aspect of their "role" through having debuffs up constantly. Which isn't bad but keep in mind debuffs as a mechanic are not hard to come by. If they were more scarce then yes that would guarantee a slot for Hunter. Instead the devs are relying on invisibility to be the extra that makes taking a hunter in a team desirable. Invisibility is primarily good for 2 things. Repositioning and reviving. Repositioning is by far and away one of the least consistent things in the game given most encounter areas are designed for the enemy to have line of sight on you basically everywhere. Even in older D1 strikes like Omnigul in D2 splash damage usually gets you if they cannot see you. You also have to consider that if you try to reposition to take out problematic enemies you're essentially guaranteeing if you go down you're dead without being revived. And reviving is nice yes. But for one revives are very limited in end game meaning if you're playing poorly enough that all the revives are gone that hunter's invis is basically worthless. And two it's never a good thing to add value to something based on someone being dead. The only possible way I can see Void hunter being a staple to a team is if planets align. By that I mean: -WQ content is designed in such a way that flanking and moving through a field is both realistic and encouraged so that repositioning/hunting targets is viable and desired. -All other sources of increased DPS output (buffs and debuffs) are less frequent and/or less potent compared to Void Hunter's up time on their debuffs. -If splash damage is globally less present in moment to moment encounters -If content is designed to force diversity instead of just being different colored DPS That's a tall order and I don't imagine even half of those things happening. Meaning if Void hunter actually gets put on the map it'll likely be something highly gimmicky that ends up being so good that you're never allowed to play anything else on that class. (omni build.)

      • If we all remember back in D1 void was the default subclass for warlock Hunter was solar and titan was arc Also lets just see that void 3.0 is a rework of what the class was already doing....and since warlock was the only non support as a void class right now it look way better than everything else ...man arc 3.0 gonna be bad for us😂

        • I can't wait to do some build testing next week but the only problem I'm having is the hunter relying heavily on invisibility when we literally still have bugs that even when you go invisible you still get shot at and seen by ads so they better have that fixed then

        • Whatever Bungie does to Warlock, it'll never be as good as year 1 before the nerf to Skull of Dire Ahamkara. Change my mind

        • I think there’s three main things the folks hitting the panic button need to remember 1) this is THE FIRST wave of 3.0 classes. There’s a YEAR LONG process of revamping all subclasses. (I think they said alll would be addressed in year 5, feel free to correct me). 2) devs have already stated they are keeping a close eye on the sandbox to keep day 1 raid as clean as possible. Due to what I said in #1 this is going to be the most movement/changes/tweaks in the sandbox yet! Especially once the other subclass 3.0 are released. 3) we haven’t played the content yet. How many people were furious about the flux grenade one hit kill and were calling for it to be nerfed BEFORE THE PATCH LAUNCHED? Cough cough, sound familiar? Now you don’t hear about it because it was an obvious on-paper-overreaction. Relax friends :) I know I know. History. Blah blah. Be a goldfish

People always talk about the lore and Warlocks. Lord Shaxx is a Titan and he’d stomp just about any warlock in lore. Also I don’t like the back that the lead over the ability sandbox is a warlock main. Not only is he biased but I’m curious how a warlock main can know what’s good for a Titan or Hunter main when it’s not their class.

            • What are people worried about? Axion Bolts is the only thing that comes to mind and there is zero change from what it is now. All three classes have things that could be broken. Hunters it’s how easily they’ll be able to get truesight and how dangerous smoke bombs could be. Weakening and disorienting together is very scary. Titans it’s the overshield potential. How strong and long lasting the overshield is, and how much you get per hit with the throwing shield. My prediction is that it’ll act similarly to Revenant shurikens. If that’s 30 health per hit instantly, it could be extremely powerful. Warlocks it’s Void buddy and Overcharged Axion Bolt buildcrafting. Void buddy’s damage radius, and whether or not it restricts movement in pvp is what I’m worried about. Axion bolts are rough and fragments to help drop their cooldown or area denial would be very scary.

So, no prob to let the Goldie becoming again the best damage super of the game according to the fluff ? Being powerfull with the Light has nothing to do with studying deeper and harder than the others. In Destiny, knowledge doesn't mean power. That's in 40K. Wrong license, friend.

                  • Bungies own statement of titans being beef cakes and hunter being agile is completely opposite with how the game works. vs titans "tankness": Rift and well make them more tanky then titans. Vs hunter mobility/agility: Bunny hoping which all 4 sub-classes can do make them the fastest in the game & thats exuding icarus dash which we all know kicks warlock mobility into 6th gear. In pve its even more one sided, as we all seen the posts "GM NF X warlock only". When you get past the trolls and talk to people willing to admit the imbalance their core argument is that warlock is the least played class and has a higher skill ceiling. So the imbalance is acceptable, if their were as many warlock mains as their were hunters then yes it would be a problem. Lastly lets take it a step further with extreme situations, 2 man raids. You can 2 man all the raids as a warlock. A few encounters titans can 2 man, very few a hunters can. Sure 2 manning is an extreme example and not intended but it speaks volumes of the core imbalance between the classes. This will be near impossible for most warlocks to digest though, because while the hunter and titan mains can say TTD was broken beyond belief. It was not till bungie out right said it was better then stasis was at launch before that it was finally accepted it and any pilots of TTD that said other wise were well bad at the game or not honest with the selves.

                    • I honestly think they are really embracing class identity with void 3.0. Hunters are gonna have multiple ways to weaken their enemies and go invisible, titans have multiple ways to grant themselves overshields and give protection to their teammates, and warlocks are essentially becoming space wizards.
