Hey there, this is normal for the featured raid, ie Vault of Glass. On the first completion per class per week, the encounter chests drop pinnacle gear and the secret chests (the chest at the Vault door is considered one of these) will drop non-pinnacle loot, as well as spoils (5). On a subsequent run, the encounter chests will drop spoils (5) but the secret chests will not drop any. Because VoG is the featured raid, the encounter chests can be farmed for spoils repeatedly. So the Templar encounter offers a very fast spoils farm, if a fireteam saves a checkpoint by switching a character in and out. For non featured raids, ie, all the others, you get 3 spoils from encounters and none from secret chests, and the encounter chests are on a once per week per class lockout.
