This game and its leveling system is trash.
I have played this game since vanilla Destiny 1. I used to be a hardcore player doing hard mode raids and stuff but ive gotten older and have a life so i cant do it like i used to. I eventually gave up the grind. I pick it up every now and then and try to get back into it but its just not even close to being worth my time.
The RNG based leveling system is one of the biggest flawed systems ive ever seen in a video game. I have played all morning and was trying to get myself hype enough to shell out the money for Beyond Light,30th Anniversary, and With Queen. I WAS READY TO SPEND NINETY DOLLARS ON THIS GAME! After only one morning it convinced me not to.
Legit rolled 2 or 3 prime engrams and did 2 powerful tier 1 activities only to be rewarded with NOTHING BUT SECONDARY WEAPON SLOT GEAR AT THE SAME LEVEL IM ALREADY AT!. The only exception was a chest piece. So i played for like 3 or 4 hours and only got 2 pieces of gear that would even slightly level me up from a 1290 to a 1291. I have never raged over a game giving me a reward. FFS Bungie give us fixed rewards and stop making leveling a -blam!- luck based endeavor!

Tell me you don’t understand how to properly complete powerful/pinnacle activities, level off you let base power or properly or level in general without actually saying it. The system is perfectly fine if you understand it. I went from soft cap 1270 to pinnacle cap 1330 over the course of about 4 to 5 weeks. The system isn’t flawed. Your understanding of how it works is.

This game probably isn't for you anymore. The game hasn't really changed, it's you that's changed... The prime demographic for this game is probably 14-25 year olds, people still in school or don't have a career or family yet. If your life is busy, maybe find a more casual game?

Edited by hate n payne: 2/9/2022 2:36:24 PMI feel your frustration. It is understandable. I have a hatred for the power leveling and RNG system too. The power leveling is used to gate keep you from content. The RNG is an extremely luck based system where the only way you can truly obtain the gear you are chasing is if you spend countless hours in the same content only to receive something you don’t need, less than your current power level or a roll you hate on a weapon or armor. It needs to be changed. RNG should be dictated by both the player and the game combined. Player picks a bounty for either armor or weapons from a specific vendor. That bounty is then completed in the activity you desire the loot from with the exception of raids and dungeons. I feel the Battlegrounds and DOE are both good designs for the game that other vendors and end game content for PVE should emulate. I am not talking about the activities themselves but the loot and RNG system surrounding them.

My main complaint is that it isn't skill based, just a case of investing time. You should get extra light level loot for winning or top scoring a Crucible game, Platinuming a GM or winning a Gambit.
