PVP inconsistency
Ever since cross play pvp is so inconsistent for me. Players not on radar or in visual range then suddenly appearing right in front of me with no time to react. 140 hand cannons killing in one shot, the first two not registering for me. Fire coming from empty locations on the map and killing me, then when I am in death cam the player shows up. Being downed 10 meters away from a corner the list goes on. I've checked my 1gbps fiber network over and over again. Uninstalled and reinstalled my NIC, updated drives etc. Speeds of 945 mbps down and up with zero packet loss. I realize there is various lag throughout the servers and other players connections to consider but this bad. I am at a loss.

Bungie still haven’t replied to all these posts and crossplay issues in PvP. Bungie must be aware of these issues as there are multiple posts in here; YouTube and Reddit.

Three things. The first is that Bungle is too cheap to have Regional Dedicated Host Servers, so they rely on Halo Era 2008ish Peer to Peer networking. Which leads to the saying "He/She that Lags the Most will be the Crucible King/Queen". The second is that cross play adds a lot more Routing - Connection - Lag issues. The Third is that Bungle has added another layer of processing with Steam Datagram Relay (SDR) which is supposed to reduce DDOS. https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/50129 If we had Regional Dedicated Host Servers, Points 1 and 3 would go away, reducing a tonne issues - but Bungle has no intentions of ever having Regional Dedicated Host Servers. They'd much rather say nothing and micromanage us with minor nerfs, buffs and Sunsetting.

4 RepliesI'm 100% with you on this. I have top of the line internet and every other game I play with crossplay or not runs great. I've been sent clips of my teleporting all over the map by other players and it's always a PS player. Something isn't working properly with crossplay. It's getting exausting too.

Fibre, wired PS5, all good at my end. I have absolutely constant connection issues with nearly every Xbox player i match, and the same against Stadia but it is so rare to even see someone playing on it that it is kinda irrelevant. However, if i queue with a PC player i don’t usually get any significant lag issues, and if i manage to find a game with crossplay disabled it usually works a lot better. Bungo has been completely silent about this after months of feedback, i don’t think that they can do a damn thing about it, at the very least they should change it so that you could match anyone on your own platform regardless of their crossplay settings as long as they are not in a fireteam with a player from another platform so we could opt out of it and still find games.

It’s terrible. And good luck finding a game if you turn it off. I back out of every lobby that has more than half x box players. I suggest x box players do the same. You can’t play against a connection.
