I've been thinking about this for a while, but I think bungie plays it too safe when creating hunter exotics. Most hunter exotics are all about improving their neutral game, some make you faster, improve your handling, others are weapon specifics or boost abilities/ super, but generally hunter exotics tend to feel a bit generic and unexciting.
I just wish that for the new expansion we get some interesting exotics, that makes us create some fun builds. For years is either stompee, wormhusk, dragon shadow and minimal build crafting eg hunter goal 100 mobility, 100 recovery and either intellect or discipline.
The only exotics that are interesting and out of the normal are Gemini jesters, bombardier & backhris. I don't consider exotics like foetracer or kephris interesting because they don't truly makes you change your build they are pretty neutral, but you might need to ad a tad more strength.
I'm just saying that I wish we had some exotics that add something extra to the class & not just improve its neutral game.
For example bombardiers they are lousy in endgame pve/pvp, but they are fun on 6v6 pvp and they make you play differently. For example I enjoy using a waveframe gl, hit an enemy or two, slide dodge and finish with a bomb just creating a bit of chaos. It might not be effective but is fun when you get that kill.
I just feel like the hunter class, can do a bit of everything, but isn't truly good at anything. When was the last time we used tether on a boss as a debuff, or when was celestial the number one choice for burst damage. I'D rather use divinity as a debuff or any heavy for damage. On LfG's you won't ever find LF hunter (maybe stasis for CC, but warlock does it better).
The main thing with hunters is their ease of use and their mobility, but they have very little utility. Put 3 hunters on a GM and at most they will barely finish, but 3 warlock or 3 titans will be cakewalk.

1 ReplyCongratulations, Hunter. We have heard your concerns. For your request we have made a new helmet. You now have increased damage on reflected projectiles while spinning your arc staff super. 😩😂🤣😭

Hunters: Agility and play making Warlocks: Buffs, speed and great abilities Titans: Slow the game down (barricades, suppressors, ect.), Strong supers, higher skill floor but balanced.

41 RepliesTL;DR for those curious: OP doesn't know how to think outside the box, and doesn't enjoy what is offered outside of said box, therefore Hunters have no versatility. They want Hunters to be given exotics that offer versatility in WQ, because since OP doesn't want to step outside the norm and actually try to make a unique build, they want an exotic that will do it for them, and because they don't want to make a unique build themselves, that means Hunters have no potential for unique builds without an exotic that does it for them.

3 RepliesFun fact: Khepri’s was far better in D1.
-
That's not the only thing bungie keep nerfing the hunter dodge yet most of his exotic focus on dodge or knife throw Hunter Exotics Bungie need to buff or rework OathKeeper - rework Celestial nighthawk - rework & buff Foetracer - rework Khepri's Sting - rework Raiju's Harness - rework Star Eater scales- bring Prenerf back Mechaneer' Tricksleeves- it's not bad but a small rework or buff be gd Sealed Ahamkara grasp - need a extra perk the current buff most like we'll be on other class like it is on stasis fragments I know ppl going to say Celestial nighthawk don't need a rework but the main problem with this exotic it's a super holder and a handicap just to use on one ad so I say it should rework like this "Buff golden gun damage and modifies golden gun to fire a single high damage shot by holding the super button on activation enemies eliminated by the shot explode and Grant you super energy" (Hold) for one shot super on activation (Tap) for regular super on activation

I love my frostees and I have been using a lot of assassins cowl lately

24 RepliesLooking at one of the newer hunter exotics that no one will ever use because it's trash... Radiant dance machines have no purpose, and probably the worst exotics in game. So you can't tell me bungie is making safe option exotics when half of them are useless in game. Radiant dance machine Knucklehead radar Radiant flux Lucky raspberry Ophidia spathe Gwisin vest Orpheus rigs (rarely gets used but still bad) Star eater scales (rarely gets used but still bad) Lucky pants (rarely get used) All these exotics are terrible or hardly have any usable functions inside pve or pvp. None of them are safe options and actually using them your legit wasting an exotic armour slot.

I don't consider exotics like foetracer or kephris interesting because they don't truly makes you change your build they are pretty neutral,
Foetracer is my Stompees. I just can't use anything else. There is nothing more satisfying that watching someone think they're being sneaky and then timing your bullet so they run into it. It also teaches you a lot about how people play and the fact that some people can't even slow down long enough to get their health back because they want to make a highlight reel moment so bad. Slide right out of cover with their handcannon thinking its going to be a surprise. But its never a surprise. Its definitely completely useless in PvE though. Kind of like Hunters in general.

2 RepliesI would disagree, I think you problem is your not experimenting or using other exotics. I mean you only listed like 5 exotics out of something like 30.

I'm still experimenting but I just started using Bombardiers in PvP with Blade Barrage. It's so easy to get dodge back when all abilities except the Super can cause burn damage which generates ability energy. Even Bombardiers cause enough burn ticks to fully get back the dodge which is awesome. They're also very much fun in PvE on top tree Arcstrider. Haven't tried using them in end game PvE yet tho, but I can imagine them being somewhat handy in certain situations. Not meta, but fun.

The problem with that is you get way too many specific exotics. Take titan for example: -eternal warrior -ursa is pretty much locked to middle tree -saint 14 -peacekeepers (you guys do have tricksleeves) I’m know there are more, I’ve just forgotten rn lol
-
1 ReplyTo be fair, I don’t think hunters are very creative. As you mentioned, about 90% of them always go for the same boring load out. This season I have experimented with mantle of fifth harmony, getaway artist, ophidian aspect, and boots of the assembler. All of them were actually really fun.
-
5 RepliesTitans, you mean titans. Hunters have a very small pool of neutral game exotics, one of which is S tier, the others see so little play you’d think they are sunset. Hunters have the worst pool of exotics to play with period, only Stompees are an S-Tier exotic for hunters, everything else is A tier at best, even wormhusk is A tier (the dodge nerf hurt it the most, previously it was S-Tier with stompees). Hell most Hunter exotics are actually simply unusable or do less than some armor mods
-
Hunter exotics are either “dodge and here’s a bonus” or “you’ll never use this”. Sometimes there are middle grounds like Khepris or Stomps but that’s generally the two categories.
-
agreed. I’ve mained Hunter since D1 and the more I play, I just feel outdone by all the other classes. There’s not much to offer as a hunter, besides the occasional ad clear tether or stasis. I really wish they would give hunters more of a specialization in PvE. I’m hoping Void 3.0 is a step towards that.
-
I believe warlocks have the best exotics, then hunter then titan, honestly titans exotics are pretty boring. Hunters exotics just need some tweaks, warlocks are pretty set with exotics as they have good synergy options with some exotic weapon pairs too.
-
Hunter exotics are addictives so of course they aren't going to really seem cool or powerful. I agree stomps and wormhust have been the only really options but without stomps you can't possibly catch or outrun a warlock or titan and without wormhusk there aren't many self sustains for a hunter the class isn't designed for sustained engagements. I can't say we have no options in fact we kinda have alot of underutilized things that people sleep on.
-
1 ReplyThey now have to build exotics not based on the dodge since they nerfed the dodge. I tried and was nearing an awesome bombardier build… but it no longer allows for constant exciting plays. Will be interesting to see what new exotics they add for hunters this year.. You are 100% right though. I am currently running jesters but they really do not do anything but pad your kda for dodging.
-
i agree there is nothing really to use except stompees on top of that alot of hunter exotics are tied to dodge that is constantly getting nerfed
-
What exotic could bungie make for hunters that doesn’t break the design that bungie had in mind for them? Give hunters anything with ability regen and suddenly warlocks lose their purpose, make a tank hunter exotic and titans lose their purpose too. The only thing bungie is limited to is making mobility exotics for hunters or more exotics that boost neutral game or weapons.
-
I absolutely agree.
