It's now mandatory or there are simply zero matches.
1/8 perpetually waiting for a SINGLE OTHER Guardian in Gambit - I've never once seen this before.
"Attention. We were unable to find a match in time." so we returned you to orbit.
This is now true for every matchmaking activities in the game not only Gambit, Crucible, Strikes, Nightfalls, Dares of Eternity, Battlegrounds, you name it.
Again it was an illusion of choice, opt in, if you like, but now no one can ever effectively opt out.
Not only are we lumbered with every platform but for me this means having to change system settings there and back again every single time just to play Destiny 2.
That will effectively be a battle between games that are far better without it to the point of it being near mandatory and easily have the population to support it, such as Halo. That's an extra burden to play Destiny.
It's so extreme that Destiny 2 product descriptions really should now state "Crossplay is required for all matchmaking activities."

2 RepliesIf you're on console you will only match w console players. I was under the assumption that included PC players but it doesn't UNLESS you have a PC player in your party.

28 RepliesEdited by TuxyDoh: 1/28/2022 1:05:57 AMHello there, By turning off cross play you are placing yourself into a pool that contains only those on your platform who have also turned off cross play. It would seem that most players have cross play enabled so it is giving you a very small, pool of players to match with.

6 RepliesLiterally - that word...I don't think it means what you think it means

Why is it that if you have cross play on, you are only matched with other with the same toggle? you still play with same consoles but, also possibly with the other console. Why if a person chooses not to cross play, can those of the same console who are ok with cross play not be put in that lobby if there is enough players to draw from for that console.

you dont match pc so you dont like ps players?
-
6 RepliesMaybe if there are so few people opting out of it, it might indicate to you that there really isn’t much of a reason to have it off in the first place? 🧐
-
5 RepliesYou don’t match with PC players unless you’re in a fireteam with a PC player. I don’t understand what you’r actual issue is. What’s the point of turning off cross play if there’s no chance you match with PC? Are you worried about PlayStation users? 🤷🏻♂️
-
2 RepliesSame in pvp. The lag/hit registration/rubber banding issues are extremely bad since cross play’s introduction. But if you turn it off your punished with extra long matchmaking times. You can’t find x amount of players on either console?
-
10 RepliesGood to know I'm not the only one with EXACTLY the same experience. Hope this "feature" ends soon!

It’s sad what’s happen to destiny 2 pvp. Why does this community encourage this trash? Don’t they care about destiny?
-
7 RepliesJust get good dude stop blaming PC players for your bad gameplay. Console players absolutely dominate just as much as any good PC player in the Crucible. Don't believe me? Go into some more Crucible matches and see for yourself. Count the amount of console players you find and compare matches.
-
19 RepliesIf you opt out you're only put with others who also have chosen to opt out, and that number is very slim.
-
7 RepliesBecause there's no reason to opt out. Why would you need to opt out of crossplay?
-
19 RepliesI dont see why people hate it so much. I bet its not even about the lag, or other technical issues, which is rare now, its you being salty having to play with different console people. This is a nothing issue.
-
7 RepliesI don’t see an issue here as unless you have a pc player with ya no chanc of running into cheaters ever
-
2 RepliesI don’t doubt there’s a lot of crossplay issues. But if it was truly as abhorrent as people on the forums make it out then you’d see more people turning it off. I only speak from pc but it’s mostly problem free, the odd laggy console user but that was rare when I was playing a lot of crucible.
