Xur Rank Grind
I have an idea For 30th Anniversary:
Why not make a mind numbingly easy and repetitive activity the only way you can rank up.
Even better, why not add in a win streak mechanic that gets reset every single time you do anything else, so it takes longer or just discourages you from playing other activities. Therefore making the dull grind even more repetitive.
Then dial up the number of repeats needed to finish this to about 100 or so to get rewards which are only available from this activity.
Oh…. Wait…
But all sarcasm set aside, the Xur grind is the opposite of fun. I don’t mind running Dares a few dozen times to get some interesting rolls on the weapons, but the same menu has Grasp of Avarice. Why not give rank up points for that too?
Why not give more points for performance? More points for legend? Or even for completing the star horse bounties? I think it is a missed opportunity to do something more interesting. Did anyone play-testing this think it was a good thing to do? How?
Oh, and don’t forget to get your ghost spayed or neutered. 😐

2 RepliesIts pretty amazing that his bounties only give xp. Why... why would I want to buy one of them for just that. It should give you rep as well. Xp climb is not what I want at this stage of the game.

Bounties for said activities should still give rep. What it gave before was not that much and didn’t hurt grind all that much either. You could only get up to an extra 60 I believe.

They took it away to stop people burning through the ranks with repeatables, so daily/weekly bounties should still count. Not to mention the 'bug' that's lowered the max from steaks has completely killed my desire to play anymore of it. It's a prime example of why people burn themselves out on activities, because of stupid crap like this. Dares shouldn't have a streak bonus, there's just not enough variety. I'm not overly a fan of them in general, like after 5 runs of whatever maybe I wanna take a break and do something else, or say one of my buddies wants to run a nightfall? But if I do I lose 120+ points per run till I've built it back.

5 RepliesNot to mention the Xûr ship everyone wants that requires rank 16 is locked behind a $30 paywall that isn't mentioned anywhere. A friendo got burned by that and was so soured by it he isn't touching Dares anymore. I don't blame him, that's so much grind just to be met with Mr. Krabs asking you for $30 for a cosmetic you worked almost a solid day for.
