I use that same mouse with 0 issues. Do you have the Logitech software loaded at all?

I used to but removed it just to test if that was causing it...not sure what else to troubleshoot.

No. Apparently it's a common issue with G502s of the earlier model line. Stinks but I'll have to replace it. I was able to reproduce the issue on my desktop after some time. Maybe I'll give another mouse a shot for my small hands because I could never reach the precision button anyway.
